Epiphone - Coronet - Cherry
Epiphone Coronet - Cherry Stripped Down to the Essentials First introduced in 1958, the Epiphone Coronet is one of Epiphone's first and most successful original solid body electric guitar designs. The latest version brings back many of the features of the early Coronet models including the symmetrical double-cutaway mahogany body with a single Epiphone PRO P-90 Dogear pickup, three on a side reduced sized Kalamazoo headstock with Epiphone Bikini badge and ivory button tuning machines, and a white butterfly pickguard with foil E logo. The Epiphone Coronet comes equipped with a glued-in mahogany neck with a medium C profile, Indian laurel fretboard with 12" radius and 22 medium jumbo frets, 1 volume and 1 tone control with CTS potentiometers, and an Epiphone Lightning Bar compensated wraparound bridge. P-90 Single Coil Pickup Legendary Tone First introduced in the early 1950s, Gibson's legendary P90 single coil pickup produced a raw powerful tone that helped define the blues and rock and roll in their formative years. Today, the P90's traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone is still considered a favorite among many top musicians. Known by such familiar nicknames as the "Soapbar" and the "Cobalt," the P90 still cuts through any type of music, all while displaying amazing tonal sensitivity for everything from blues and rock to mellow jazz riffs. It's perfect as a vintage replacement, and features vintage, braided two-conductor wiring. It's also fully wax potted to eliminate any chance of unwanted microphonic feedback. *Specifications are subject to change without notice.

Received this guitar in great condition. It did need minor setup as would be expected. The guitar was finished very nicely and even had a rolled fret job on fretboard. I did pull the pickups and wiring covers while setting it up and it does have CTS pots with hand soldered point to point wiring as advertised. Plays great and the P-90 sounds awesome. Epiphone did a great job at reproducing this pre 62 Coronet. That being said, they used the post 62 compensated wrap around tailstop bridge which was a nice touch.

Overall:I have purchased a lot of guitars in my life, many from you all. Let me say, that this Epiphone Coronet(red cherry), blows a lot of them away. I'm talking Fender, and Gibson alike. I mean, $399.99! Give me a break! I think it could probably go for $599.99 easily. i wouldn't be surprised to see the price go up eventually ,Anyway, I digress. First of all, right out of the box, the action was almost perfect. Intonation seemed to be pretty decent as well. The fret ends were not sharp at all( unlike some of the fenders I have purchased), and they are polished nicely. The P-90 screams, even through my little pig nose amp. Unbelievable. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone, pro, am, beginner, anybody.(P.S. - get the cherry finish, the wood looks good ... MoreOverall:I have purchased a lot of guitars in my life, many from you all. This simply has to be one of the best guitars in it's price range, well made, beautiful yo look at following the original vintage specs & a dream to play, I need to set up the intonation a wee bit but it really is a gem. PMT delivered the next day & not only that, they were charging £272 where I'd researched other shops who were charging way more so what can I say, a real beauty of a guitar at a price that is unbelievable.

Really nice quality. With a couple of upgrades (pickup/machine heads) would definitely rise from semi-pro to pro standard. Neck slightly chunkier than I expected but nothing I can't get used to.
Overall:Blows every Custom Shop and USA model Gibson junior I have played in the last several years out of the water. For the price, you can’t beat it. Mine had zero issues out of the box. Finish and fret work were all near perfect. Holds in tune well and sounds absolutely amazing!
Didn't know what to expect being my first Chinese guitar. Quality is amazing and was better than expected. Played pretty well straight out of the box and needed minimum set up. Truss rod, intonation and action I tweeked to my preferences. Does exactly what it says on the tin, close to minimalist perfection, up against the real thing (Gibson LP & SG juniors) it's in good company. Growls like a good un should, cleans up beautifully when rolled off. Very very close to my SG juniors through vintage Marshall amps and without too much effort can nail that Marriot/Pie sound. Shocked and gobsmacked by the quality tbh, I've had some real poor American made guitars over the years, this reminds me of the Japanese stuff in the 70's.
Overall:I tried to get one of these guitars for my husband for Christmas. So I ordered from another vendor. Each month, since December, I was told the guitar would be delivered in "four weeks". Three days ago, I discovered zZounds has the guitar for $50 cheaper. I called, spoke with John M. who assured delivery of the guitar in two days. I cancelled with the other company and ordered through John. Two days later, the guitar arrived. It was packed and shipped with the utmost care. My husband was very pleased to finally receive his Christmas gift.. even if it was five months late. I plan to make further gift purchases with this vendor.
Overall:I love this guitar. It is very light, super comfortable and easy to play, the neck feels great. The finish looks great. Out of the box it just needed a good setup, and some fret polishing. Mine arrived with a couple of minor cosmetic issues but no major problems.I did raise the dogear with a shim, it's pretty low due to the design. That added a lot of sparkling and body, and some more "bridge" feeling to the tone (without the raise I deduct one star for sound, and because the volume only knows on/off).
