The sound is great. I like all the details on the material but my favorite part of this guitar is the neck. Low profile strings and smooth like an electric guitar

Guitars come and go but I've held on to my early-70's Epiphone for nearly 50 years because it's soooo big and loud! This one is almost as loud but with a much warmer tone and an amazing sustain. It really sings! The fret ends needed some work but, aside from that, it was perfect right out of the box.

and play but the sound is very bland. I gavevitvthree stars for appearance and build quality. No sweet tone or sustain at all. I'm hoping that'll change with a new set of strings but I'm not sure it will. I have to say the action is fantastic. The guitar is very heavy and the pick guard is very thick which can definitely restrict the soundboard from vibrating freely. Most people know that. What was Epiphone thinking by putting such a thick pick guard on this guitar? It is beautiful to look at and the craftsmanship is top notch but that's about all I can say about this guitar at the moment. If a new set of strings doesn't make this guitar sound better I'm probably going to be returning it.

This guitar sounds dead even after I put new strings on it. The pickguard is ridiculously heavy which is probably why this guitar has no sustain or projection. It plays great and looks beautiful but who ever says this guitar sounds like a Gibson J45 needs to go get their hearing checked. No. I like my friends so I would never recommend this guitar to any of them.
I wasn't sure about this guitar before buying, but I liked the specs and thought well, if anything it would be easy to flip. Folks, this is a great guitar. I've been playing guitar for nearly 40 years and this is the best buy on an all wood guitar. My only wish is that it came with a case.
Very well made, beautiful fit, finish and sound. This is one solid guitar. I like it just as much as my Gibson Songwriter. Deluxe. And as always, the service from David Weintraub was excellent !
Great value in this all wood guitar. Plays well, stays in tune, good sounding instrument. The build quality is better than I was expecting - fit and finish is outstanding for this price range. The neck is comfortable and the set up out of the box was very good - no buzzing, no high frets. Very impressed.
Great all round guitar. I can’t really fault it.
Overall this is a nice guitar but for me there are two minuses. The tuners are horrible. The action is too high. Both of these minuses are fairly easy fixes (obviously involves spending more money) but if i had known about them first i probably wouldn't have brought the guitar.
Overall:I've been playing Epiphone guitars for over 35 years and they just keep getting better and better. I had an AJ-45ME Masterbilt (that I loved but had to sell a few years ago) and I can honestly say that this 'Inspired By Gibson' J45 is a better guitar. The Fishman Presys II electronics are a major upgrade. You can do some delicate dialing in of bass and treble and the phase button really works to improve bass response at lower volume and it suppresses feedback at higher volumes. The overall sound of this guitar is incredible, my nephew who has a $1500 Taylor (that isn't all solid wood at that price) was a little miffed that my guitar sounds every bit as good as his and honestly I think better. Does this guitar sound better than a Gibson or Martin at triple ... MoreOverall:I've been playing Epiphone guitars for over 35 years and they just keep getting better and better. Does this guitar sound better than a Gibson or Martin at triple the price? No, but it does sound every bit as good as the ones that are double it's price. The fretboard is silky smooth and so easy to play up the neck, I sometimes play at the 15th fret with no problems and the sound is still great. If you need an A/E that you need to plug in and play live with, then don't be afraid to pick one up, you will turn some heads. Plus it has the new Gibson like headstock, which helps makes this guitar look so sweet!
