Epiphone Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom Origins - Bone White

$1,989.00

(34 reviews)

Epiphone is proud to present the third signature model designed in partnership with Trivium’s extraordinarily talented Matt Heafy - the Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom Origins. It features a pair of custom-voiced Fishman Fluence pickups. Each delivers three distinct tones. The Alnico neck pickup provides a modern, active, high-output Alnico humbucker sound, a crisp, clean, and fluid neck humbucker sound, and a glassy, scooped, hi-fi single coil sound. The Ceramic bridge pickup offers a choice of modern, active, high-output ceramic humbucker tone, high-output passive ceramic humbucker tone, and a cutting, overwound single coil tone. These tonal options are selected with push/pull volume and tone pots. The maple-capped mahogany body has modern weight relief for hours of comfortable play, and the mahogany neck has a fast-playing SpeedTaper D profile and a contoured heel for exceptional upper-fret access. Gold hardware, including locking Grover Rotomatic tuners with Tulip buttons, and classic Les Paul Custom cosmetics make this a standout guitar on-stage. Available in Ebony and Bone White gloss finishes. A custom hardshell case is included.

Fantastic guitar although the quality control of Epiphone needs a little work as I have to make a few adjustments to get it playing correctly as action on low strings is a little too low and strings vibrate against the frets and opposite on other side as high strings could be lower.I also have to remove and fishman pickups to remove the plastic around them as it is impossible to do properly without taking them out.

This guitar came well packaged and with a little love it looks brand new. It came in great shape. I put new Gold Grover Tuners on it for perfection and some new Epiphone Gold Top Hat Knobs. Super rad guitar with great sounds. The coil tapping Knobs are a super plus for shutting off half of each pickup when you want. Thanks for the rad guitar! Super Plus is the date of the guitar, it was built on the same day my daughter was born!! Rock on

Great guitar, almost great case

This guitar looks plays and sounds awesome. Very versatile with all the tone options. It fits tight in the case but the vinyl on the case is loose in the curves.

Great quality from Epiphone

Quite pricey by Epiphone standards but well worth the money. Attention to detail and finishing well above average. Wonderful to play with a vast array of "voices" when you get used to the controls.

HOLY S*** BATMAN

Overall:Ok so I was a big fan of the first custom shop Matt dropped like forever ago but I had my I guess opinions about it. Like how thick the neck was and just the holy crap of weight the thing was. So I was scared about getting this one at first when it was the prototype. Well that changed when I watched a video on YouTube with Matt explaining it had a thinner neck. Well I just got the guitar in today and all I have to say…..BUY IT. You will not regret it. It plays absolutely insane. Feels so well built too. Very very impressed with this guitar. Job well done Matt & Epiphone. Job well done.

Highly recommended.

Overall:Just picked one up. I've been sold on Epiphone since they've essentially redesigned their headstock, and this one did not disappoint. I've been missing a guitar I can play my favorite metal songs and metal styles with and this one was nearly a no-brainer for me, within a certain budget of course. This is my 4th Epiphone and by far the best one, quality and feature wise. The pickup voicings are exactly what I was looking for, and I love the extra features of the electronics. I highly recommend performing a setup though, as it could use some fret polishing(and maybe some leveling, YMMV). No fret sprouts, nicely slim neck, but not too slim like an Ibanez or Jackson can be. Perfect for metal riffing and great for shredding, although a satin neck would make for ... MoreOverall:Just picked one up. I threw on some 11-54 gauge strings, tuned to drop C, and relieved the neck a bit. It plays nearly perfect.

Searing tone and great fret access
31 December 2015

Been playing Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls and SGs for years. I also own a Japanese made Elitist Les Paul Standard Plus. This guitar is simply incredible. Good amount of weight, but not a back breaker. The EMGs scream distorted and are crytal clear when playing clean. There is a bump killswitch on the neck tone pot which is fun to play with. The neck is amazing. It's not really a 60s slim taper as advertised (which is what my other LP and SG both have). It's slightly thicker than that at the headstock but the closer to the body you get the thicker it gets. It's not as thick as a '59 round back neck either though. The axcess neck heel is simply amazing. Something every Les Paul should have. High fret access is a breeze. This is a solid guitar all around.

Solid

This guitar is a beast. The all-black look is great, and it has some weight to it, giving it a very solid feel. The only complaints I have are the 24.75 scale length, which can pose some problems when going for lower tunings (although it was designed for Matt Heafy, who I assume sticks to standard tuning so that's excusable); the EMG active pickups, which sound too sterile in my opinion, and really require a high end amp to achieve a good tone; and the ebony fretboard, which I find to be less fast if a wood than maple or rosewood. However, don't let these deter you from picking one up. EMG pickups have been the metal standard for years (although I will probably swap them out for SD Black Winters), and with the right player and the right setup, this guitar will blow ... MoreThis guitar is a beast. The Les Paul we've been waiting for

I havent bought a guitar sight unseen in years due to getting burned however, make no mistake you will not regret the decision buying this one. Electronics are incredible and playability is excellent. Have a PRS and Schecter and this compliments my collection like no other. I was initially surprised by the neck shape as the typical "baseball bat" is non-existent but rather a flatter D-shape profile. Not quite Ibanez Wizard like but still somewhat thinner than i was expecting. Sound wise I've been able to go from Santana to RATM to Metallica to Ghost without changing the settings on my amp. The differences in the bridge pup when switching from the active to passive settings are somewhat subtle when you first start messing around but if you are paying attention, you ... MoreI havent bought a guitar sight unseen in years due to getting burned however, make no mistake you will not regret the decision buying this one. Having said that, I am favoring the more classic/passive setting even playing heavier riffs. I know the price is a little high however, Epiphone is giving Gibson USA a HUGE run for their money with the fit and finish of this axe. if you are on the fence about it, just do it and apologize to your wife/girlfriend later.
