I started looked around for my first electric guitar and after about 2 weeks this Slash tribute Gold Top popped up and I fell in love! This was an online purchase - so I relied on online demos and reviews. Honestly some were critical of the Epiphone custom pickups - but after the sum of my research - and the online sales price, with a signature Slash hard case included, I think this was the best guitar I could of brought! Coupled with a Marshall Code50, I am having a blast!

I have now owned this guitar for several months and it has become my go to guitar for daily play. I own several other guitars from other brands, some 3 times the price of this but I just love this guitar. The fit and finish is exceptional. Very comfortable neck to play on (I was used to Ibanez wizard necks before) and it has sustain for days. Great sounding pickups beating in mind I currently practice through a Spark modelling amp so I can’t comment on its analogue tone. Hold tune perfectly despite me constantly changing from E to E minor to drop D. The case is great quality and fits like a glove. Nice and positive gradual roll on / off on the tone and volume controls. The gold top is a little more understated on the Victoria than the gold top standard which I like. ... MoreI have now owned this guitar for several months and it has become my go to guitar for daily play. This guitar is an absolute bargain at this price. Excellent service from the guys in store at Romford PMT. Thanks boys, I’m a very happy chap!

I've had this guitar for two weeks now. I was able to pick it out of a lineup on Sweetwater's website so I was able to get my preference for the flame top as well as a heavier guitar. Not all flame tops are equal either, even on veneers. My Sales Engineer, Andrew Reina, called me shortly after placing my order and kept me in the loop throughout every step of the process. I did not choose the optional setup, but the guitar came fairly close to my preference and there was an inspection card inside the case signed by two different inspectors to make sure this wasn't some factory reject. Most places, even some in-person, brick-and-mortar retail shops just send the guitar straight from the factory and sell it to you as-is without even looking at it. Most places, even some in-person, brick-and-mortar retail shops just send the guitar straight from the factory and sell it to you as-is without even looking at it. This was a really nice change from that. I think it needed to be mentioned here. Anyways, to the guitar...It was a little on the heavy side as advertised, over 9 pounds. Very well built guitar. Feels good and sturdy. The neck profile was almost identical to the Gibson counterpart I had recently played at a local guitar shop which I found very comfortable in my hand, but $3k+ is just not in my budget. The fretwork was very well done, no sharp bits along the binding. I had to lower the action a little bit to suit my hands, which is perfectly ok, and still no fret buzz at all. The Indian Laurel is much lighter than Rosewood, but it feels just fine. The nut on the guitar is fine and it stays in tune pretty well also. Even the G-string!The finish was as I expected since I was given some additional photographs via email from Andrew. For a glossy veneer, it looks quite nice in person. There was a slight cosmetic issue with the binding where the front single cut meets the neck. A little bit of the finish is still in there. (I tried to attach a photo) I am not going to worry about it, but still going to mention it. Some people do care about that more than others. The Gibson one I had played was far more red/red where this one is black/red. I know it's not an apples to apples comparison with a veneer vs. an actual painted flame top, but I thought I'd still mention the difference. The pickups: The neck pickup. I hated it at first because it sounds quite muddy. Its purpose is to play leads from Sweet Child of Mine or November Rain. It will definitely give you that sound, but that's it. Don't try to do anything else with it. Even on clean, it's better to go to the bridge pickup. Or in the middle position with the neck pickup turned down a bit. Speaking of, the pots were ok. I've seen better, and worse. The bridge pickup. It's actually pretty good and unique in a way. Almost gives an overdriven sound to it. It's hard to describe. If you play open chords it almost makes it sound like you are playing through an overdriven tube amp. It sounds different than my other Les Paul's played through the same setup. Sometimes I really like it, sometimes I wish it sounded more like my other Les Paul's. I bought it knowing I have a spare set of EMG 81/85 that I will likely swap in if I keep it, which I am leaning towards at this time. The pickups, pots and the little cosmetic issue are why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 stars. 4 stars is still pretty good though! I know it's a Slash signature model so it should sound like Slash. It does that for sure and I will rate it as such instead of rating it from comparing it to my other Les Paul's. The Epiphone R9's pickups/pots/etc. beat this one's by a good margin, but it's not geared toward Slash's sound either. I gave that one a 4.5 for different reasons. If you're thinking of buying this Les Paul to have a more "normal" Les Paul sounding guitar, definitely play one and or shop around a bit first. especially considering the $ price point. You can pretty much afford any other Epiphone Les Paul for that, actually less. Again, this guitar was really well made and the case is pretty nice too. The deep red lining really made the vermillion finish pop!

Overall:I've been playing for 30 years now, and have been eyeballing these Slash models for a while, when they lowered the price to $799 I jumped on the Victoria, and it's a killer Gold Top Les Paul. The pickups are exact replicas of the Gibson Custombuckers found in the their model. And they're great. Somewhat hot, but still warm in the neck, with zero mud. And clear but biting in the bridge. The neck is similar to the neck on my Les Paul Standard 50's, and feels great too. If you take the time to set this guitar up and dial in the pickups correctly, it's fantastic. This is my 4th purchase from the Inspired by Gibson line, and I haven't been disappointed yet. This guitar is second only to my new Epiphone Les Paul Adam Jones Custom, Veil of Bees. So, for the same price as a LP Custom, you get better pickups, a better feeling neck and a beautiful hard shell case. It's a no-brainer.Besides, it's a Gold Top, one of the coolest LP finishes yet.
I watched a lot of the speculation videos and reviews when these new Epiphone Slash Les Pauls were teased and then released. I was tempted to hunt down a 59 Epiphone but I am very glad that I ordered this one as I am very satisfied with my purchase. This is one of my favorite Epiphones that I have purchased. I think my favorite thing about the guitar is the neck. It just feels very comfortable to me. I also own two other "new headstock" Epiphones - the Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Custom with 3 pickups and a Silverburst Les Paul Custom. The Joe Bonamassa has a chunkier neck and the Silverburst has a slimmer one. This Slash one feels right in the middle to me and feels great. The pickups also sound great to my ear. I have a Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus with the Seymour Duncan Slash Alnico 2 signature pickups and these Epiphone pickups still sound good by comaparison. The only thing I would want different would be if they ever offered a VOS-type finish where it was duller like the 1959 Epiphone.
I now own 4 of the new "Inspired by Gibson" guitars, including the new Adam Jones Les Paul Custom. The Adam Jones is hands-down my favorite, but this Slash Victoria is right behind it.Fit and finish are fantastic, and the tone is right up there with my 2029 Gibson Les Paul Traditional, but with a bit more bite. This just feels like a more substantial instrument than the Epiphone Les Paul Standard 50's. It's really hard to put down. And now with the price decrease on the Slash model and the increase on the other Epiphones, this is a no-brainer.I wish I'd gotten one sooner!
Epiphone has been on a serious tear lately! Since the 2020 line launched I have purchased the following Epi's: Les Paul Prophecy, 60's Les Paul Standard, Les Paul Modern, Les Paul Classic, 1959 Les Paul Standard Outfit, Custom Koa Les Paul and an SG Standard. When I saw this was coming out, I was a little hesitant as I was hoping it had Seymour Duncans or Gibsons, since the 1959 has Burstbuckers. I ended up caving in as the Appetite Burst is a finish I've always wanted on a LP. I'm glad I did as I actually like it better than all the LP's mentioned above. My favorite part of this guitar is the feel of the neck. It's not as thick as the 1959, but not as skinny as the 60's...probably a little closer to the '59. The pickups actually sound great. To me they have a more aggressive growl than the Burstbuckers in the '59, but still nice and clear. I opened up the cavity and noticed that the pickups had more of the braided line, similar to Gibsons...so they are indeed different than standard Probuckers. Aside from all these Epiphone's I have quite a few Gibsons and would say the feel of this Epi Slash feels the closest to the Gibson's. I'm really happy with this guitar and so happy that I just ordered the Anaconda Burst. (my wife is gonna freak out). I'd highly recommend it and say that if you're hesitating on the pickups, they're actually really good. I won't be switching them out.
Overall:You can’t go into this expecting Gibson level quality. Nonetheless, this is a great guitar. The only thing I have done is install Dunlop strap locks as they are my preference. I would have liked a more worked rosewood board, but again, it would have driven the price up. It looks and plays very well. I might put SD pickups in, but these sound fine. Besides, your main sound is your amp in my opinion. The guitar is just the tool to make those sounds happen. This guitar will suit most people fine. I’ve played plenty of Gibson that felt worse than this Epiphone.
I'll start by saying I was super super hesitant to get a Slash Epiphone Les Paul. I like GNR but I am by no means a fan-boy. I am not Slash or will I ever be able to play like Slash. I have an Inspired By Gibson Epiphone ES-335 and was impressed with the quality so I was open minded to a Epiphone LP. I am a hobbyist so it's hard to justify the huge upcharge for the Gibson name, especially with the great quality Epiphone is pumping out.I was wavering between the Epi LP 50 standard, '59, and Slash because I wanted a chunkier neck that these three only seemed to provide. Though the '59 is probably the best bang for your buck, I wasn't a fan of the fact they all have the aged look. I love a glossy/ polished looking guitar- so the '59 wasn't doing it for me. Though the '59 is probably the best bang for your buck, I wasn't a fan of the fact they all have the aged look. I love a glossy/ polished looking guitar- so the '59 wasn't doing it for me. I know some people dig the aged look and I get it, but it ain't for me. I didn't go with the 50 standard because the colors didn't speak to my soul even though it had the polish I was looking for.Which brings me to the Slash collection. Man... I was really digging the Anaconda and Vermilion Burst. I loved that it wasn't the traditional colors. In my opinion (that means absolutely nothing), I think these non-traditional colors gives the timeless Les Paul more personality. I searched far and wide until I found a Slash LP with the top I liked the most. I settled on the Anaconda Burst because I think a green-flamed Les Paul is just the coolest thing since sliced bread. Here's the thing... This isn't the best valued Epi Les Paul. It's a signature guitar, which you pay more for the artist royalties. The pick-ups are nothing to be impressed about. I'll probably end up upgrading them. It doesn't have a rosewood finger-board (it's Indian Laurel). The Epi Les Paul customs have an ebony finger-board and are cheaper. The Jerry Cantrell's Signature Epiphone LP Custom has an ebony finger-board, a case, and that beautiful diamond headstock; It still manages to be cheaper than this. The Epi LP '59 comes with a case, has Gibson USA pick-ups, AND is cheaper. If you want a good "Bang for your buck" guitar, this is not it. This is not a guitar you get for "the value". Not to mention, since the Slash collection is now going to be apart of the regular line-up, it won't hold it's value like other signature models that come out temporarily (though my understanding is that the Anaconda and Vermilion burst are limited runs so maybe those will be the ones that hold value).Bottom line, if you're the person who values specs and value, look else where. This is a guitar you get because you WANT it. Period. And that should be the only reason you need to get this.Despite all the flaws, all the alternative options, all the better Epi values out there, I love this. I feel like I own a proper Les Paul. I love the chunky neck, I love the proper weight, I love the AAA maple top, the piece of Indian Laurel on mine looks beautiful and dark, and it feels well crafted despite being made in the Far East. The pick-ups can always be changed. But the weight, feel, and looks are much, much harder to tweak.Play the guitar you want, not what a reviewer on YouTube or the internet says is the best. I wanted this despite everything I ranted on about and still couldn't be happier.
Overall:Having journeyed through iconic guitars like the Gibson Les Paul Standard and various others, my recent encounter with the Epiphone Slash Les Paul left me genuinely astonished. Unveiling its potential straight out of the box, this guitar's performance exceeded my expectations.Tuning proved to be a breeze before I embarked on an extended playing session. The standout feature, undoubtedly, is the inclusion of Orange Drop capacitors with their reputation for clarity and warmth, significantly enhance the playing experience. Great finish, color, feel, tone, sound, weight, smell, even the red fur of the case is beautiful.
