Really happy with the Epson 9400 It's doing everything I wanted it to. I did try a few LED options first and whilst I appreciated LED startup times and onboard gizmos they couldn't hold a candle (no pun) to the black depth and contrast of a traditional lamp. Rolled this in with a Goo projector paint system on the wall, Marrantz 1510 amp over ARC through Q Acoustics ceiling speakers with the while lot switching and controlling via Nvidia Shield Pro, it's a really solid set up. My commitment to this projector is such that I have cut a projector path through a 400mm wall so this can be housed in the ceiling space of the adjoining room. Home cinema complete.I was initially quite surprised with the scale of the device, also check your throw distances. My moving back through the wall bought me an extra metre of throw which has it just right for me at around 4.5m. Lense shift is excellent and allows parallel set to wall without any skew when ceiling mounting. Preferred the Natural colour mode and 4k mode 3. Shalnt be moving this for a long while.

it is a strong bright projector that give a very crisp image over some distance to our very large fixed screenit was very easy to set up with Apple TV and Sony Receiver I was given very good advise by richer sound sales person over the phone. I probably would have purchased a projector that would have had to been returned had it not been for this advise

I purchased this product after an in-store viewing and after watching product reviews on YouTube. It is projected onto a 150 inch screen with a 0.95 gain. Straight out of the box the picture is awesome and I am extremely happy with it. The projector is used in a dedicated home theatre with a blacked out room. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anybody. Overall fairly easy to use and set up.

Projector is mounted above my head in the Living room ceiling.Walls and ceiling are all painted in brilliant white. Windows are covered. Projecting 92" image onto a Sapphire fixed frame screen. Using Denon 5.1.2 amp.Black levels from this projector did not impress me. Colour accuracy is excellent. Projector can receive 4K signals and will "enhance" it by using pixel shifting technology. I never saw a "true 4K" image from a "true 4K" projector so cannot comment on whether its enhancement is better or worse than "true 4K" but it seems sharper than 1080p.It also takes HDR signals, and I tested this with several HDR sources I downloaded from the web. HDR looks better than non-HDR but it's not a OLED screen so forget getting the same vibrancy and contract - it is physically impossible with a projector. But better than not having it. Also, where can you get a 92" 4K HDR OLED display for £2,500? Can't do. This is as good as you get with HDR on a big screen. It's using 3 1080p LCD panels with shifting technology to achieve a 4K resolution. It's a lamp projector so does take time to startup but much less than my old Optoma HD142X and once it does, getting to full brightness is much quicker.I like:- Motorised everything - lens cover, zoom, horizontal shifting, vertical shifting (all with memory).- Colour accuracy- Robustness - it is solidly built.- Remote control - all functions on a nice and chunky remote, and unlike the Optoma remote that was laggy, unresponsive and flimsy the only on the Epson works perfectly. If you're using Harmony remotes like the Elite bear in mind the integration isn't great and lots of keys missing but that's not Epson's fault.I really don't like:- Aligning the 3 LCD panels is a nightmare, if you don't then it gives you the same impression of having a "rainbow" effect that plagues DLP projectors, one of the reasons I moved to this model from my Optoma DLP was to avoid the rainbow effect but due to panel alignment being extremely tricky to get right I still see funny edges on white text over black background.- Noise. This was supposed to be more silent than the Optoma it is replacing, in reality there is fan noise AND when the 4K enhancement is on, also a very annoying fast pulsating hum from the optical shifter. The auto iris also makes noise.- Auto iris makes transitions from dark to light scenes very unnatural.- Has to be in a cave to reach its full potential. It's a home projector but at a midrange price point so how can Epson expect people buying it to have a fully dark room? People who have £50,000 to spend on a proper cinema experience with a properly built dark room won't be buying this, they will be buying a Sony native 4K model. It is disappointing if you just want to add it to your living room. Curtains alone won't do.- Cost. This is at the time of writing £2,500+/- so unacceptable to me to have the noise and not very good black levels unless in a properly dark room.Having said all that, I am still keeping it, because there does not seem to be anything better at this price range. This is the best projector you can get for the price. Further, the motorised functions with memory are super versatile. If you can afford more, get something else. Native 4K JVCs seem to be a great choice.
I wanted a new 4k projector to replace my Epson EHTW6600 which was a great projector. I did quite a bit of research and decided on the 9400. I ordered one from Richer Sounds at what was a good price. The projector arrived and I unpacked it. I got quite a shock as to how big it was. Even though I had checked the specs I didnāt think to check the size. It did mean I had to strengthen my shelf for it to sit on, but I am very impressed with the image. I would recommend it 100%
This is my third Epson projector and sixth overall, previosly owning the TW9200. Very bright, much quieter and the motorised lens functions are fantastic. It's a big beast but a Peerless ceiling mount makes setting up a doddle. I'm using an IR cable as hdmi cables aren't good at distances of more than about 7m and it works brilliantly. 3D is even better than the older models, although glasses are not included. Have yet to properly calibrate it but the picture is fantastic out of the box! Although not a "true" 4k projector the pixel shifting works really well and the picture is stunning.HDR10 and HLG work smoothly. Good value for money and the service from the Kingston store and Myles was fantastic.
Selected this for its ability to throw its picture from the rear of my room with ease, its brightness and colour balance. I wasn't disappointed at all. Out of the box, the Bright Cinema setting is fantastic, everything you could wish for. Sharp and realistic even with HD Freeview, Blu-ray is of course a step up. The powered zoom allows different lens settings to be memorised for 16:9 (TV) and 2.35:1 (CinemaScope) for films, so you can fill your screen perfectly for either where possible. The cherry on top is that it was so much better than the Full HD projector it replaced that the wife is happy with the result too.
I upgraded my old optoma 25e to Epson 9400The lens memory and automatic shift between aspect ratio is the main differentiator between the consumer grade optoma models to Epson. The contrast of the projector is very good even though my room is not a batcave and has limited black cloth treatment above the screen (2ft long). In many dark scenes the contrast plays a critical role ,whereas in bright scene blacks look very black(even the old Optoma handles black well in bright scenes. The 4k upscaling is a big step up on a very large image (120'' or more). It's a light canon very bright to allow it to perform well with HDR. colours are accurate and skin tones are wonderful.Integrated well with a Yamaha 3050 receiver without major connectivity issues using standard ...Ā MoreI upgraded my old optoma 25e to Epson 9400The lens memory and automatic shift between aspect ratio is the main differentiator between the consumer grade optoma models to Epson. The contrast of the projector is very good even though my room is not a batcave and has limited black cloth treatment above the screen (2ft long). But l definitelybprefer to watch movies with the Epson as it is hard to beat a 150'' image
Bought this to replace my 6 year old tw-9000 1080p 3D projector when it developed a fault. As this one isnāt ānative 4kā (for that you need to pay a lot more) I expected it to be just a small improvement over my previous Epson. In fact its far better than I expected. The picture is incredibly crisp and clear, and even from just a foot away the pixels on my 106ā screen are barely discernible. Itās also a lot brighter than its predecessor, which makes the contrast, and āperceivedā black levels a lot better. It does still support 3D , using Bluetooth glasses rather than the old IR models and its performance here is great too. I watched Avatar again for the first time in quite a while and was blown away. I bought this projector as an upgrade from my 7 year old Epson EH-TW6100, and the difference is amazing. The picture quality is stunning for UHD 4K, and that is just on the out of the box settings. Once the lamp is run in I'll get it calibrated. It is much quieter than the 6100 when on full lamp mode. I had to keep the 6100 on Eco to reduce the fan noise, but no such problem with this.I love the motorised operations of the lens, and lens cover. The 9400 is considerably bigger than the 6100, but fortunately it fitted my ceiling mount position perfectly.Thank you to Joe at the Chester branch of Richer Sounds who helped me with my purchase.I'm extremely happy and looking forward to watching lots of films over Christmas in stunning crisp, colourful 4K.
