I’m writing about this printer, not the ink. I’ve had only Epson printers for many years. Have liked the C-88 (several of them), WP-4530, SC-700 Photo printer, and a couple of others that wore out in due course. Some of those were used for heavy printing. The Epson XP-7100 is the first I would not recommend. Ink cartridges are tiny. We don’t print high volume at all on this one, but we’re needing to replace ink ALL THE TIME. Of course, every time you change one, ALL others need to recharge and use up ink. The paper supply is also very small, but that’s been ok. The quality is fine, but nothing special, and the mechanics of adding paper, ink are all a little clunky. There are much better printers out there for the price.

I was going to order Epson ink online, but the printer quit printing when the photo black cartridge ran out. I didn’t think it did that, and PB is not essential to printing and the printer I have will continue to print in b/w if the C, M, or Y run out.I called Staples and talked with a very nice guy named JT, who checked and found they had the single cartridge of Photo Black as well and the combo with all five inks - AND they would match the price at Epson online!Thank you, JT. I’m very satisfied with this purchase and especially appreciative that I didn’t have to wait however long to get the ink in the mail while my printer was sidelined.

Was looking for high capacity for all cartridges in 5 pack. Not in stock. Found out it is not carried in any Staples store. Only online. Why? I had a big print job and sure enough had to go back and get a couple more cartridges. Also don't understand why store price is higher than online price. Have to ask checkout to charge online price every time.

The reliability of color inkjet printers is always a little shaky. They are prone to clog the printhead nozzles if you do not use them enough. But the printers with refillable tanks are worse, because it is practically impossible to clean the printheads.Epson has the best reputation for consistence of color, an advantage that gets lost if you use 3rd party ink cartridges.
I purchased this printer to get great color on my Christmas photos because my HP printer no longer prints good color due to using non-HP ink. The photo setting, however, works only when you are printing a photo on photo paper. It took THREE multi-cartridge boxes of expensive ink to print the photo page of my Christmas letter. I was in a state of shock. Thank goodness I printed the letter itself on my HP printer which is much faster. I will continue to use this old printer for routine tasks and reserve this new printer for color printing.
When purchasing this printer I was assured of it's quality. The printer itself is very good quality wise, however, I gave it a medium rating because the ink cartridges are very expensive. I always get the 5-Pack High-Yield...Not so "High Yield" though and often need replacement!Being 81, this is a disappointment, since printers used in the past were more cost effective regarding ink usage.
I purchased and installed all new 410XL ink cartridges about a month ago. Immediately my printer showed the ink levels to be down, not full. This is an Epson xp-7100 and I use it at home, printing several pages a day, maybe. Now the printer already shows "low ink level" for most cartridges, even though I print mostly in black & white. This is not what Epson or the rep at Office Depot promised me a couple of years ago when I purchased this printer. The quality of the printer is mostly good but the amount of ink in the cartridges is not as advertised. A person should not have to shell out nearly $100 per month on ink for a home printer with minimal to moderate personal usage.
I really love this versatile printer, however the ink costs make it a fortune if you rely on printing on a regular basis. I print mostly in black and white and yet one must always have enough ink in the color ink or you won't get any prints. It says you can print only in black and white but truly it will not. It requires the color ink as well. It sucks through the ink faster than you can keep up. I spent hundreds and hundreds of $ in ink and it has no low quality print for ink saving. It is just an ink hog - which I'm sure Epson love's.
This is the greatest box with delightful content that I am sure will provide the best ever printouts I have ever witnessed when I open and install them into my printer. I was so proud to show it off to everyone. Only problem was I broke 3 fingernails trying to open the beautiful box I hope it will not take my breath away when I see how magnificent the product produces since I am also now on oxygen and do not need any additional problems. Thanks for asking.
... but not being recognized, so having to order complete new set. Why do all run out when practically everything I print is text black and white stuff? I hate this printer. Claims every cartridge empty when there is obviously ink left. Can't print out a two page black and white form I need! $73 for new cartridges when I only print occasionally. Older printers were more reliable. Thanks for ripping me off, Epson. I'm stuck with you I guess.
