This is an excellent arm. Very well constructed and solid. It's easy to assemble and adjust.My one and only frustration is with Ergotron support. I only purchased this monitor arm because Ergotron cannot sell individual parts. I already had the wall mounted version of the arm, which is only different by one of the 4 pieces that are shipped (i.e. a wall attachment versus a desk attachment). You really do get what you pay for. I needed a monitor arm for my CHG90 samsung monitor and initially tried the loctek D7L which some users had had luck with for this monitor. Unfortunately, it couldn't hold the weight and broke when trying to add resistance to the vertical tilt mechanism.All roads led me to this ergotron monitor arm which is rated for up to 42lbs. Although this was double the price of the loctek, it was worth it. The build quality is exceptional - it feels very durable and well made, while also looking very nice rather than too industrial. Adding and removing tension is extremely easy and assembling this arm was a piece of cake. I have tried several moniotr display arms. the Ergotron HX is very good for heavy monitors. I have an LG 45 curved monitor on the HX and wouldn't use anything else. It is solid and steady and yet easly to move around. The HX was easy to assemble, I read the insturctions first and made sure I had received all of the parts. I highly recommend the HX if you have a larger monitor.

I was searching a lot before making the decision, especially considering the price tag, double that of any of the alternatives for similar monitors. Not sure what was the logic behind of put cheap Velcro ties, on the higher part of the arm, considering they put a plastic cable channel in the lower arm. Again considering the price of this, I will expect much better cable management, or at least some plastic channel in both places.
The build quality is great. They use high quality metals throughout, instead of just being cheap cast iron of other stands. There are set screws to lock in the arm, from you pulling it out of the sockets. They payed attention to detail, such as the bottom one rotates 180 degrees ( so it doesn't hit the wall when you push it back ). The top still rotates 360. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars but not 5 is because it will not hold up samsung's Odyssey G9 monitor. Monitors that have 1000R curve, have their CG too far forward for the tilt spring, and it will sag or drop down on the highest tension setting. However, the G9 monitor is really the only 49 inch ultra wide that causes this issue that I know of.If you have any other super ultrawide that you want to use a ... MoreThe build quality is great. I am going to guess they will be coming out with the replacement part in like 2 months from now. It's 9/19/2020 as of writing this, so if your in the future reading this, go check if they made the new part for it.
I purchased a Samsung CRG49 monitor which weighs 33 lbs. and has an 1800R curve.Set up for this arm took only a few minutes, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. For mounting my monitor I attached the tilt mechanism to the monitor's VESA mount, then the upper arm to the tilt mechanism. This allowed me to easily pickup the monitor and drop the upper arm into the lower arm without having to deal with any screws or supporting the panel during mounting.Side to side movement is not as smooth as I hoped it would be but once I got it in a position I like, ease of movement is no longer a concern.It freely adjusts the panel to any height, tilt, and angle I want without slowly sagging down. The wire management loops are helpful too.All in all don't cheap ... Very fair price on a great item. Arrived quickly. Unfortunately the plastic cosmetic cover for the wall mount block (not shown in photos) somehow came out of the packaging broken, and this Ergotron branded arm system kit, having been manufactured in china, resulted where I have had zero success in locating a replacement part, and I am not surprised, but overall this was still a good deal. Functionally (and considering what I paid for it) the arm works as expected. THANK YOU!

I like the ability to put the mount in place, followed by the lower arm. The upper arm can be mounted to the monitor, followed by placing the upper arm and monitor onto the lower arm. The tension adjustments allow for easy movement with a great range of monitor weights and sizes. Why use the factory stand with your ultrawide monitor when you can use the Ergotron HX monitor arm instead? IMHO, it’s that good! To be fair, I hide a lot of computers and peripherals behind my monitors and need to get behind the monitor frequently to change/swap cable or peripherals and to undock a laptop for travel. With this arm, I just effortlessly swing the monitor out of the way but had to pick up the monitor to move it and work behind it with the factory stand - ultrawides aren’t light. If you have a similar use case, I recommend this mount. All of the alternatives I found were either mast mounted or did not have the articulation of this one
