I am impressed. I picked up this 200g sample of Essentials Instant Coffee Granulated. It was priced at $3. 70. I would never have been inclined to buy this product. I have to say when I opened the fairly unappealing jar that I was not keen on the aroma, but made us 2 cups for morning tea. I was fully expecting to tip it down the drain, ready to make our regular brand. On sipping this we both were extremely surprised as the taste was very pleasant and drinkable. We both enjoyed it and wondered why we had been paying so much for Moccona when we occasionally drink instant coffee. I can honestly say we may even have preferred the flavour of this extremely low priced coffee. (Not on the online image, must be new) This makes me feel more comfortable as I am concerned about human rights and sustainability. I note that it is packed in Poland, but I really feel they should disclose the country or countries of origin of the actual coffee beans and where they are manufactured and processed. I’m guessing the beans are not from Brazil or Vietnam or I think this would be stated on the product. My concern is they are sourced from China and that is why it is not stated on the label. Although I do not know the bean’s origins, but going on the taste experience and the ‘frog’, I would still give this a high rating.

Not the best. I’m a first time user of this brand if was easy to find which was great. I’ve always been a 43 bean user and have always loved opening the tin to get that aroma hitting me in the face and what I got from this was a bitter smell like a burnt bean so not a great start. On the back of the jar I’m glad there was instructions how to make coffee as I would never had known ( sarcastic). I drink weak coffee so I made this weak as per normal, and the taste for me was like a burnt bean and bitter. It was boarder line of being gross. I made a cup then of milk coffee that was tolerable. I think I wouldn’t buy this brand. Coffee is a product that has a specific taste for each individual’s palette and unfortunately it’s not for mine but Thankyou for the product I ... MoreNot the best. So/so. One would think that coffee is coffee. In reality it isn’t. I enjoy trying new products. Yes, this is something that I would never look at on the supermarket shelf. I tend to go to my usuall brand of coffee that I like. I did find this coffee to be a bit weak. However the coffee aroma was definitely present when the jar was opened. This product will definitely suit those coffee drinkers who like their coffee to be week as well as those individuals who really don’t drink coffee. A suggestion would be for those who like it strong, to add more than one teaspoon. It states that it is packed in Europe ( Poland) but doesn’t really give the consumer the information of where the coffee actually comes from and is grown. Not something that I will be purchasing again. ... MoreSo/so. One would think that coffee is coffee. In reality it isn’t. I enjoy trying new products. Not for me. This coffee was easy to locate among the other coffees$3. 70 for 200g or $18. 50/kg. Makes it an affordable cup of coffeePackaging is rather plain. The red lid makes it stand out though On opening the coffee there is not that lovely aromaOne teaspoon is too weak for me. I made a second cup with 1 and half teaspoons and it was stronger but became bitter Not for real lovers of coffeeRainforest allianceNo HSR or nutritional information Country:No mention of where the beans are fromRecycling information:Thanks to bunch and WW for the chance to try this coffee but I will stick to the branded product as it's much nicer and not as much is needed for a delicious cup

A good coffee and a very good price point. We usually drink Moccona brand instant coffee but sometimes we also switch between Vittoria and Nescafe if it's on a better special. In comparison to these other brands I would say the Essentials coffee isn't too bad, it has a milder flavour but still woke me up nicely this morning. At a price point of just $3. 70 for 200grams it's got an incredible edge from a price point perspective. For me I would continue to switch between my 3 preferred brands depending on specials because they taste a little bit nicer (smoother, stronger and a little more of a bitter bite that I'm use to), but the Essentials coffee surpised me with its pretty decent quality and flavour. I would be happy to buy this one as a backup and revert to it in ... MoreA good coffee and a very good price point. Enjoyable cup of coffee. I was lucky enough to try the woolies granulated instant coffee this morning. Now I normally drink Nescafe 43, but I must say I was impressed with the woolies one, I will admit I had to add an extra teaspoon to my cup because I do like my coffee strong. My other half loved it because it didn't have a strong flavor just as he likes it. Because at $3. 50 for 200g it was a great price for a nice tasting coffee. Overall yes I would purchase this again and cheat and add it to my nescafe 43 to make it bulk out so to speak and last that little bit longer. Is that cheating yes, but hey with the prices increasing so much lately I say why not. I gave it a 4 star rating only because for me it needed to be a bit stronger tasting. my other half gave it a ... MoreEnjoyable cup of coffee. Great value and taste. Excellent price and good sized jar. Rainforest Alliance Certified good if concerned about that and jar and cap are recyclable - also good. Packed in Poland which is disappointing and no mention of ingredient country source even if most coffee is produced overseas. Nice and strong flavour. Tastes good. For someone who's not a huge connoisseur or overly fussy very little difference to other brands tried. Long over paying expensive prices for the heavily branded coffees when these are just as good. At that price would be happy to buy again. 5 stars.

Awfully cheap. At a fraction of the cost of named brand instant coffees, I really wanted to like this coffee but commonsense told me it wasn't going to be good. I wasn't wrong. I had one cup and then passed it on to a student relative who is on a tight budget and eats and drinks most things. I found that it tasted really bitter and had a very strong and nasty aftertaste. Just like cheap coffee always tastes. He didn't think it was much better but did say he would finish it. The coffee is packed in Poland from unknown origins. It does have one of those fancy rainforest alliance labels on it so we have to trust that it is sustainably sourced. Not Very Good. I drink coffee from our machine at home, but I drink Nescafe Gold or Moccona coffee at work and have been disappointed with other, cheaper brands in the past. I wanted to give this coffee a fair go though. The coffee was easy to find in the coffee and tea aisle, with the other instant coffee jars/tins. At $3. 70 for the 200 gram jar, it was reasonably priced. I put one heaped teaspoon in the cup, covered with a dash or milk and topped up with hot water. The flavour was quite weak, but with a slight bitter edge. I think if I had put in more coffee, it would have been too bitter. The taste was smooth enough with the amount I used, but not strong. DEVINE REFRESHING ICED COFFEE. As a rule, the only other person in the family, bar the grown-up children when they visit, is my husband who is a dedicated coffee drinker! and in his opinion, he was more than satisfied with this product. And I suppose if anything, he would know. However, having said that... even though as a rule I do not drink coffee, I will never by-pass an opportunity (usually during the summer months) to indulge in a 'Refreshing Iced Coffee' fusion, which is prepared in an electric 'Milkshake Blender' with milk, and a large scoop of yummy vanilla ice cream and cherries to finish. So, what are my thoughts on this coffee? after putting it to the test. How good is that?Labeled attractively with the ‘Woollies (W) essentials’ badge and reasonably priced, at $3. 70 for 200 g, you couldn't go past that.
