Essentials Traditional Pasta Sauce 700g

Nice aroma. Found easily in with the other pasta sauces, middle shelf on the end of isle so I didn’t need to hunt for it which made a nice change. Priced at $2. 15 for 700g with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives making it very economical for families. I like that the lid pops when you open so you know it’s been sealed well and the lovely aroma of onion, garlic, herbs and spices is very evident but not over powering. The label doesn’t state what the herbs and spices are which is disappointing especially if you want to add your own. Perfect to add to any pasta dish with the right consistency to add other ingredients. The sauce itself had a good thickness synonymous of a good quality product - wasn't too runny and/or watery. It created a rich tomato base for my meat sauce, and when cooked with the lasagna sheets, bechamel sauce and cheese, was full of flavour and very tasty. It complimented the whole dish without being too overpowering. I would be happy to buy this again and recommend it to others based on the price, quality and flavour, but would prefer it to be made in Australia.

It is a lovely, fresh tasting, basic pasta sauce at a great price, currently $2. 15 for the 700ml bottle. I love the fact that it is fairly plain as this means you can add whatever other ingredients/flavours you want to it. You can also cook it for as long as you need to get the appropriate intensity of flavour required. I used the sample to make a chicken pasta bake and was really happy to have the extra 200ml, compared to regular jars of pasta sauce, for great coverage of the other ingredients. It makes a lovely tasting Bolognese sauce. I was very happy to receive this traditional pasta sauce sample. I added it into my mince meat along with tomato paste, onion and garlic. This pasta sauce lifted the flavour and gave it a nice saucy flavour. Nice and thick consistency, not runny or watery at all and with the added flavours of onion, garlic herbs and spices it gave my bolognese sauce a beautiful flavour. In the past, I have made bolognese with just tomato paste and added in my own here/spice blend but found it lacking in flavour. Perfect Amount of Pasta Sauce and Affordable Too! I have used this pasta sauce several times before receiving it as a sample and the reason I buy it is because it comes as a generous 700g portion rather than the usual 500g. I like to add hidden vegetables to my pasta sauce and I find that the 500g varieties always fall short because once I had my grated vegetables and then a 500g packet of beef mince, the sauce becomes lost and loses that delicious tomato flavour. However, with this pasta sauce, I find that there is plenty of sauce compared to mince and vegetables so it's a winner in our house. But I was still happy to see how a store bought option would compare. Found it the pasta sauce aisle, on the bottom shelf, this no frills pasta sauce was easy to locate and a very economical purchase. Full of Flavour and Well Balanced. When I received this I said to myself here we go again with a flavourless pasta sauce like the others that are on the market. I was actually surprised that this was full of flavour, well balanced and went well my homemade gnocchi. At least I didn't have to do anything to it to improve the flavour, just heated and mixed through the gnocchi or you can use any type of pasta. Made in Australia from at least 12% Australian ingredients. This could definitely improve by using more locally sourced ingredients and transparency as to where the ingredients are coming from.
