Double Wear Light is a lovely lighter version of the original Double Wear foundation. This product has more sheer coverage, a looser formula, and easy blending. In my experience the shades between the two lines are cohesive. The formula still dries down to the same natural matte known and loved in OG Double Wear. This is a fantastic option especially for the summer or if you prefer a more “no makeup” look. I purchased this for my Mom, who is in her mid 50’s, and this wore beautifully on her skin. It didn’t settle into lines with wear, didn’t transfer, and subtly but effectively covered areas of redness without covering her natural freckles.

This is the only foundation I use for everyday wear. I just use more coats and cake on more if I am attending a formal occasion. It looks fanrastic on me and it doesnt cake when I wear it thickly. I use a brush to spread it in each day as it makes a more lighter natural look to my skin and my fingers dont spread foundation on everything all day. Even lightly applied it civers up the reddness of my skin completely and it is noticable to others if Im not wearing it as the comments -not questions but rather observational commentary questions have been: 'you don't look to good, are you ok?' or 'Did you have a big night last night, did ya?' or 'Wow, you look so different without makeup on' have been asked many times to me. At times throughout make up free day or I'm ok with myself and ok to go out without make up on today days, i always realise that I HAVE to wear at least a layer of Ecru shade Double Wear foundation with a bit of eyebrows and eye lids penciled on. As a minimum I do this as a daily routine. Would recommend 11/10 to stay in place, if moisturiser underneath it can be sitting on the skin all day and you may need to spread your foundation over your skin to cover any part rubbed of through contact. This makes mr feel confident. I don't have to worry about it showing my red skin through it as it wont. Which is great! Scars are still visable but without any marks so they just look like scars that are acceptable and not stand outish. Recommend this product if you like waking up with make up on still as I do. Not that you cant wash it ofc but if you like feeling your still protected from your blemished skin then I recommend this product to wake up in as alot kerps on your face overnight. Doesnt clog pores or I wouldnt use it as I am quick to blemish hence sleeping in it because obviously I need to feel like I'm not that red foreheaded Scarface with rudolfs nose in the morning. Great xolours. Mine is darker shade then necessary. I'm aware my neck matches colour with my arms and my face is a different shade. I dont care because I know I feel (look) great!!! Also, watch out for liquid if it gets onto clothing or fabrics. Recommend not wearing a outfit without protection on top from drops or face touching outfit. Also if you use your hands, fingers to apply it should be a always use one towel specifically for washing it off as the stains are a real little bugger to near impossible to remove

I don't understand how this product can make someone's skin look "stupid" because this foundation is truly brilliant. I was a huge fan of the original Double Wear and Double Wear Light, but DW felt heavy through out the day and broke me out, while DWL wore super well but the shade and coverage were just ok. So when I heard they discontinued DWL to release a new version, I was super excited! I was able to get a sample of it early on (like 2 months ago kind of early) in my typical shade 2N1 Desert Beige (which is way lighter than DW, so you need to get a shade darker than you think. I ended up with 1w2 Sand) and the formula was totally different. Shockingly different. The original DWL felt almost like a BB cream and was a more natural matte once dried down. This new version is NOT matte and has more of a silicone-like slip, so those who do not want luminosity are going to be disappointed. It takes a bit longer to dry down and I find it's best without a primer, just applied to nicely moisturized skin. It has a bit of radiance to it, which I personally love. I have combination skin, and once set (I use the Too Faced Born This Way Setting Powder) it lasts all day long, even in extreme heat. It looks even better as the day goes on with very minimal wear. I think it's probably better for combination skin types, not too dry or too oily. I was seeing some pretty poor reviews on it in the last few weeks and I really feel like it should have been named something other than Double Wear Light because it really isn't comparable other than the coverage being light/medium. So if people are able to separate it and not see it as a "reformulation" but as a new product entirely, I think people would really enjoy it.

I have worn this foundation for over 10 years and through the different formula changes. I can put this foundation on and wear it for two days straight which is perfect for my busy life. The fact that I can eat, sleep, shower, etc for 48hours without it budging has been a miracle that I cannot find in any other foundation. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING THIS BACK! I have tried every form of the double wear line and the double wear light in 1n2 has been my go to! The new sheer version is basically a tinted sunscreen and the futurist that you guys recommend as a replacement for the light sinks into cracks and creates others that I don't normally have in my skin.It seems that you have a large quantity of people who love the double wear light and have used it religiously ... MoreI have worn this foundation for over 10 years and through the different formula changes. I am so disappointed to find that my ultimate, all time favorite foundation has been discontinued. I have used the doublewear light and the doublewear light soft matte hydra (in Fresco 2C3) for years and nothing compares. I am a caretaker, volunteer and gardener and it stays on through high heat, humid sweaty days, masks, long days and nights. I'm in my late 50's and it is absolutely the best foundation I have ever used. My Mom, sister, nieces, and friends all use and love it! We are so disappointed it was discontinued and we do not like the new sheer. It's too watery, does not last as long or look nearly as fresh and youthful as doublewear light. Nothing compares to this one so please, please, please bring this back!

Honestly, I'm just left confused as to why EL removed their only light/medium foundation option. Now you can only choose between a full heavy coverage (double wear) or a sheer option (the new product). I am not clear as to the reasoning here.I have used this foundation for years, like many other reviewers. It did the job well, being the only foundation that Estee Lauder offers that is of medium and buildable coverage. It is fluid enough that you can have sheer coverage when applied to slightly damp skin, and buildable enough to provide more med-full coverage.Time to shop around elsewhere.

So glad I didn't listen to all the bad reviews!!!

I've been using Double Wear for years and always wanted to try this product quite frankly because the tube seemed a lot more convenient (slim, lightweight, sanitary) than the glass jar even with the $10 pump, especially for travel, touchups, post-gym application, etc. Finally the new formulation comes in my color (Fawn, which I first discovered in Europe). So glad I ignored all the bad reviews that even claimed that the good reviews were "fake"--I watched one positive YouTube review and decided to give it a try. I've never even written a review before, but I wanted to make sure that Estee Lauder keeps making this product. Also found it very buildable.Setting time: No issues with slow setting that other reviews claimed.Color: Fawn is a seamless match with my Asian skin with strong golden undertones.Finish: Slightly less matte than Double Wear, but this is a positive for me since Double Wear has begun to look a bit dry on my combination skin cheeks now that I'm in my 40s. The finish looked very much like my natural skin ... very slightly dewy but not shiny or greasy.Feel: Not at all heavy or uncomfortable on my face as other reviews claimed, but I did try touching my face occasionally and agreed that it was a bit tacky to the touch for the first hour or so.Staying power: I was surprised to find this had more staying power than the regular Double Wear, which usually wipes off my combination skin nose by the afternoon. Also, this had less shine on my nose than the Double Wear in spite of its slightly more dewy finish.Skin: As with the regular Double Wear, I had no issues with skin sensitivity as I do with many other makeup products.Convenience: As expected the slim, lightweight tube was very easy to carry around in my small makeup bag. I suspect that the slightly lower viscosity (as compared to Double Wear) will make it possible to apply with fingers as well, but I'll probably still carry a beautyblender around. This is definitely my new HG!!! Please ignore the bad reviews and give this a try!!!

Why are you discontinuing this product????
21 January 2022

I wore your Double Wear Light stay-in-place makeup for many years and was very happy with it. Then you changed it to Soft Matte Hydra Makeup with different names for the shades which made it difficult to match the color. After many tries I discovered the color that worked best for me. Now you have changed it again to "hydra makeup" and, after trying samples from my local department store, I can assure you that I will NOT be buying the new formula. I might as well put water on my face because that's what it looks like after I apply it. I have also tried the regular Double Wear makeup and it is too heavy for me. I am extremely disappointed in this change in formula.

It is sad to see all of the low ratings for this Foundation! This is not for people who want more coverage... this is a light formula like it should be and the name implies. I have been on the hunt for a long wearing, skin like Foundation for months now. I have tried many high-end foundations from other stores and Ulta as well as drugstore, with no luck until I tried Estee Lauder. Above all also looking at the ingredients I can rest easy knowing that the ingredients in this Foundation are safe and free of parabens and sunscreen and have a great analysis from skincarisma. I can rest easy wearing this on my skin! I just started using this new double wear light, hydra formula. I loved the longevity and oil control of the Estee Lauder double wear original foudation (glass bottle) but Hated how heavy it looked no matter how little I used, just how it was so evident I was wearing makeup, now this light double wear version, also in the awesome squeeze tube! Is so amazing. In my experience it meets all their claims spot on. And I specifically love the light to medium coverage, it looks like skin! If you hate cakey heavy makeup, and wanted something like the Estee Lauder original foudation but not to look heavy, this is for you! Do try. But tip, work in sections because it dries fast, and use dabbing motions not dragging because it has more gel like consistency. Also, I don't think a brush would be good for this, I use a beauty blender, if u want a more heavy coverage look, try a DRY sponge. Personally I use a wet one. This looks like skin and does not transfer 100%

I too was initially disappointed in the formula change, I feel I used to get more compliments on my skin (one every couple of months). I also can't really say for sure but it may have had more lasting power before. I have oily skin but I was able to get away without a powder while pregnant but my oily skin has returned, so I went into Sephora recently to look for a new finishing powder, and they steered me away from the powders and commented that my skin looked chalky wearing EL DWL Fresco, and suggested another foundation with a primer, no powder for a more natural radiant look.I was a #1 in winter, #2 in winter in DWL,and fresco 2C3 was recommended for me (also fyi old DWL had sparkles). Well that started a search that ended in me trying 80% of the foundations at Sephora and Shoppers looking for a natural/matte finish that would suit oily skin and match my skin tone (or you could say I looked at ALL foundations that fit my criteria, natural finish, medium coverage, long lasting, doesn't look like an oil slick after a few hours - Urban Decay, Smashbox, Dior, Chanel, Benefit, Tarte, Cover Fx, Shisheido, Lancome, Loreal, Maybelline, Anastasia, Nars, Clinique, MAC. I looked at them all, including taking many samples home to actually wear all over my face all day.ALL other foundations in my shade range are SO much more yellow or orange, I can't believe it. I gave up on finding the perfect shade match and started to focus more on formulation then color match. Well the results are in and the winner is..... Double Wear Light, in a slightly different shade, 2N1. EL is the best for neutral -cool tones. Although I lean more yellow than pink, I think I'm a true neutral, which is impossible to find, so the fresco was a bit pink for me which made me look chalky. Nothing compares to the combination of the finish, ease of application, shade range, and lasting ability for oily/combo skin of double wear light. I also suggest trying regular double wear and nars sheer glow.
