I waited until pencil needed sharpening before I left a review as they are a few reviews regarding that problem. First of all the colour is beautiful, smooth and gives my lips a perfect pout. It went on without feeling dry and didn't leave any ugly lines when lipstick fades. Now I was a bit apprehensive about sharpening pencil as everything about it is perfect. I used a chanel sharpener and very very gently sharpened it. No breakage and sharpened well, so very pleased about that so maybe with a light hand it will work for you.

I love Estée Lauder products, but was quite disappointed in their lipliner. It constantly broke apart on my lips, and while sharpening it. I wasted half of it trying to sharpen it. I believe the lipliner is too soft and mushy which makes it easily fall apart. I want a precision pencil when lining my lips. Hopefully, they can brainstorm and come out with a better product soon! Don't waste your money!

Disappointed with EL's continued need to discontinue decent products. The quality of this pencil is awful. It shreds and breaks even using the EL sharpener as recommended. The one lip liner color I liked was Brick. No longer available. I purchased another in Wine as when purchased previously it was a nice color as well and it suited me, not this one. It's nothing like original color. Lancôme makes a better product. I'll just stick with ANR from EL going forward.

First off, I read some of the comments on how the original formula was better. I have never tried the original, so I wouldn't know the difference. I think it's a great lip pencil! I use all of my lip liners as lipsticks. I will say that the first time I took my first EL lip pencil out of the box, the tip fell off and I had to wait till I got a sharpener. It would be great if they somehow created a denser formula. It does seem a little moisturizing with a matte finish. I don't mind a little matte texture. It just glides on. The staying power is also great! I'd pair with a lip balm, not a gloss. Gloss will take it off faster. A balm will keep your lips moisturized without taking away the staying power. I'm really impressed with these lip liners. I was a little hesitant to buy at first, due to the price. However I took the plunge and purchased the first one in the color Persuasive. I have an Estee Lauder lip color that I hoped it would match with, and it looks great together. The pencil is much longer than other liners I own. I also love the brush on one end. I like using that if I fill in my whole lip. The main reason I love them so much is the lasting power. They are better than any other liners I currently or previously own. I ended up buying 2 more in Red and Blush. On a side note, I wish Estee Lauder would list suggestions for pairings, as to what lip liner, and what lipsticks would match, or would look good together. That would be a great help to consumers.
This product replaces a GREAT product. The never-sharpen liner pencil was smooth to your lips when applying. This product is often rough. It should only be used at home unless you want to carry a sharpener with you. I have often sharpened it at home, being careful not to sharpen it too much. I put it in my handbag and the first time I use it the point breaks off and I have no lip liner for the remainder of the day. This also makes it a very expensive item to use.
While I love the shade and have purchased many times, I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of the pencil. Pencil is difficult to sharpen and breaks easily, wasting a very expensive item. I have tried multiple, very costly sharpeners with no success. Seems each time I order it gets worse. Won't be ordering more. Hopefully, they will bring the shade to a non-sharpen version. Maybe I will reconsider at that point. And telling me to speak to a beauty advisor is not helpful. Make your products to last and worth the money please!
The shade taupe is perfect, it's a nice neutral shade that looks like a natural shadow around the lips and compliments almost all lipsticks or lipglosses you choose to pair it with. When you first draw on the product, the formula is super creamy and takes barely any pressure to deposit colour. I use the brush to blur out the lip line to create the faded effect I want. Be warned through, it dries FAST so work quickly. Once this dries down, IT DOES NOT BUDGE! This stuff is serious business. It survives through almost all eating and drinking with minimal change. And when you do re-apply, it doesn't pill on top of previous product. This is my new holy grail!
I have been using Spice lip liner by ST for so many years I have lost count! The old formula was creamy this is dry and seemingly brittle. As other reviewers have said it is a bear to sharpen and breaks. Personally I prefer the refills for the nice little pen that I kept in my purse. This is a pencil a long pencil and not as convenient. The formula is absolutely changed and therefore after 15 years plus really probably more I’m going to go elsewhere. It might take me some time but I’ll be darned if just because Estee decided to change a formula that I loved and worked so well after so many years and I don’t like it I don’t have to use it! I remember when I first discovered your automatic lip liner after you introduced it several years ago. The sales associate showed me how to first outline my lips and then apply to entire lip to provide a stain that would last even after your lipstick wore off. When I try to fill in my lips with the Double Wear pencil the tip breaks off and I need to resharpen. Over the years I've been disappointed to see a lot of my favorite Estee products replaced but I think this would be at the top of the list. Please bring it back! It was the best liner I've used.
