Estee Lauder Double Wear Sheer Long-Wear Makeup SPF 20 4N2 Spiced Sand

I’ve always wanted to try the Estée Lauder double wear foundation, but it looked too full coverage for my every day look. When I noticed they had a sheer version, I had to try it. I am in love! This product goes on so easily and blends like a dream. It gives your skin a “my skin but better” look. It hides the imperfections you don’t want but still leaves things such as freckles and beauty marks. It dries down to a matte finish and does not feel sticky or tacky. I was supposed because usually with liquid foundation I need to set it with a powder, but that’s not the case for this! This foundation lasts all day! Great for already great skin

Love this!! In store (both Ulta and Sephora) the shade range I had access to was very limited. I ended up ordering another shade online, but it did feel like a bit of a gamble since the range isn't as great for the more cool/rosy skin tones. I mix Fresco and Pebble because there isn't a happy medium, which is inconvenient but I am hoping they improve upon this. I have only used this twice now, but I liked it enough to already write a review. This is the lightweight foundation I have been looking for!! If you are also looking for a great truly natural look, I highly recommend this. I prefer this over the Chanel Les Beiges (pills, expensive, no spa, doesn't layer well with other products), BareMinerals tinted moisturizer (can get a touch patchy, heavier consistency, ... MoreLove this!! I prefer this over the Chanel Les Beiges (pills, expensive, no spa, doesn't layer well with other products), BareMinerals tinted moisturizer (can get a touch patchy, heavier consistency, don't always want a dewy look), and the Laura Mercier in the tan tube with the name I can't remember. This is relatively similar to the Armani neo nude and both are on the top of my list. I wouldn't say this is for all skin types, but more to make great skin look perfect! The finish is a natural matte with potentially buildable coverage and works very well with my cream blush and bronzer.

I like it, but it won't be for everyone

I've never been a full-coverage foundation kind of girl. My skin is generally pretty good, so I don't really need full coverage 99% of the time, and I hate how obvious (imo most) foundations look. I used to use the double wear light and liked it, though I found it to be ever so slightly too high coverage for me. If you're looking for good coverage, move along, you won't like this! Don't expect this to cover up blemishes, dark circles, etc. - you'll need a concealer for that. But, the overall tone correction is great. It is definitely noticeably less coverage than the double wear light, which I like! You can either apply a modest layer for very light coverage, or build it up to something resembling the double wear light. It's also the first foundation I've tried that genuinely hasn't felt like I had anything on! I love that it has more skincare-oriented ingredients, and adds another layer of sun protection! If you have dry patches, it will cling to them a bit, but it's not super noticeable. I found this wore just as well as the double wear light - my forehead does look quite shiny at the end of the day, but that's just how my forehead is. It applies and blends really nicely with my sephora #56 brush. I roughly apply and spread it with my fingers first (to minimize product soaking into the brush) and then buff it in with the brush. Without a setting powder it will crease, but I found creasing to be extremely minimal with the kosas cloud set powder! It's definitely not mattifying enough imo for my forehead, but for the fine lines around your eyes and mouth, it's a perfect combination. Overall I really like this. I'm glad there are options out there for people who like sheer coverage! Don't hate on this product if you like good coverage - not everyone does! We light-coverage ladies need an option too :)

Light/Medium foundation that LASTS!!! Yasssss

I was a devoted user of the Double Wear LIGHT that they reformulated to a completely different product and ultimately discontinued. I don't use the term Holy Grail often but it was my HG! Since that time I've been searching for something similar. This is close. It is much runnier and slightly less coverage but the coverage is buildable. But make no mistake this is a light to medium foundation - you won't get this to full coverage. If you have acne scars and age spots, this is either going to take skilled concealing to use or this isn't the foundation for you. I am mid-40's with dry skin. This product works great for me. It says matte finish - I'm definitely getting a satin finish with this which I WANT! The lasting power of this foundation is excellent. Is it as good as the Double Wear - no, nothing is :-) but it FAR surpasses any other tinted moisturizer or BB cream or other light/medium coverage foundations I've tried. I have used Dermablend's Setting Spray to help lock it in place.

Naturally beautiful skin.

I received today's beauty product compliments of Estée Lauder. As someone with combination skin with residual dryness from a long history of acne treatments, foundation has seldom been my friend. I would dread applying foundation only to find it caking, drying, and cracking along with my dry skin. Jumping into this product sample, I figured I had nothing to lose. I opted to try shade 1N2 as that appeared to match the closest to my skin tone, albeit a little on the cool side for my peachy undertone skin. I was very much enthused by the clean, powdery, and delicate scent of this foundation. As expected, the shade was not a perfect match - I probably could benefit from a slightly peachier shade. That being said, the product blended smoothly onto my skin with ease - even over my problem areas! The coverage is sheer, and yet I found it to adequately diffuse my blemishes, while still allowing the real me to shine through. Like a gorgeous, beautifying veil to your naturally beautiful skin. Oh, and it applies completely matte, creating the illusion of bare skin with a diffused, delicately softening glow. I would love to further investigate and really find my true shade. If I'm able to find an exact match to my unique undertone, I'll have to upgrade this review to a 5 star rating. With its ease of use and undetectable qualities, I might actually start using foundation again for the first time in years. I think I love this foundation because it doesn't look like foundation. No coverage, no lasting power, runny and shiny

I absolutely loved DW Light and have been exclusively using it as a foundation for years. I'm sop disappointed it has been discontinued - as many others! I've tried this Sheer version but it does not give any coverage, it disappears off my face after 2-3 hours, leaves a shiny finish (it's definitely not matte as advertised) and it's so runny it could be just tinted water. The only positive thing is that the colour match is perfect for me (Fresco). I've tried the original Double Wear and it's so thick and heavy and not natural looking at all. The recommendation is to buy both and mix & match to create a custom coverage. Poor coverage waste of money

Oh dear oh dear what have Estee Lauder done. When they discontinued double wear light 2021 I was told they will be bringing out a new one in the in Feb/March 22. Couldn't wait to try this new one. The lady on the counter first said it's nothing like the double wear light, it's very runny and more like a coloured moisturiser. I said like the BB foundation you used to do "yes" . So I asked for a sample my colour used to be 2N3 Dune in DWL. Told 2C3 Fresco as this would be the replacement, not tried on my skin or tested to see if this was still my colour match in store. First it is a thinner consistency which didn't bother me I tried this for 5 days. My daughter asked when I was going to try it. My daughter gave it ago whoes skin is very pale milk like and it did however look like a smooth basic coverage. So not sure how this was surposed to work on my skin as I'm a lot darker. I don't think this is worth £36 I was told. DW is too heavy for day use when you're in your 50's. Foundation is the most important item in your make-up bag, the one item that has to be right. I always wear foundation even if I dont do full make up. Sorry EL you've lost another customer.

It is true that it's weightless, fresh-feeling, but not matte makeup with lasting, all-day long wear. Weirdly enough, despite virtually no coverage, the formula is detectable in a very odd way - like little shiny but powdery particles. It does not resist sweat and humidity & it streaks under eyes. It is color-true & comfy, but what's the point when it doesn't deliver as a foundation? I have tried to apply it in many ways - sponge, no sponge, fingertips, brush, primer, no primer, moisturized & hydrated face, and without moisturizing first, but it just did not deliver. In all honesty, I don't think this formula even deserves to be called foundation. The only way to make use of it is to use it as a base for another foundation.

She gave me two little pots to take home and try this. Turns out, I do not care for it. The formula is very odd. Although it's light, it goes on very oily and shiny, while being very watery. Not "matte" at all, not even semi-matte. I applied it with a foundation brush, and it looked very uneven on my face. When I rinsed out the brush in my sink, what a mess! The foundation left huge greasy rings on the porcelain sink. I have never had a foundation do that, and I always use a brush or Beauty Blender. I tried again with my fingertips after seeing on this site that finger tip application is better. Stop comparing it to Light

Like many, I was annoyed when I found out double wear light was discontinued as it had been my go to foundation for everyday makeup. However, I used a tester of the sheer and found myself using the ENTIRE bottle. I actually prefer this to the Light formula. Yes, the light was build able and had more coverage. However, I used to find that doing my makeup quickly with Light meant that it could become patchy if I didn't blend it enough. The sheer has eliminated that problem for me. I used the sheer daily and it feels more like skincare rather than makeup. It gives me a soft blur with enough coverage to look pulled together but never overdone.
