For some reason the universal primer just stopped being sold which was THE BEST product to use before foundation for smooth flawless looking skin. I decided to try this new product as it was the only thing that seemed like the t was close to the universal primer. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I might as well have put lotion mixed with water on my face. Awful for making skin feel and look smooth before and after my foundation DID NOT look matte and flawless. In the past two years products are disappearing or being replaced and not always with a better product. I’m a 20 plus year user and that’s because your products work. Why get rid of cleansers, powders and now the primer that make us look our absolute best! I want my universal primer back!

I am so disappointed in the quality of this primer. It's like PVA glue. I use double wear foundation and have done for years, and this primer just doesn't work with the foundation despite being advertised as compatible. It clumps and looks dry, sticky to apply as a result of the primer.I swore by the Smoother primer. It was perfect and light and the foundation applied and stayed on beautifully. Devastated that it was discontinued and replaced with this product, as it is nothing alike.Such a shame, as I love Estée Lauder products, but I won't be buying this again.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Smooth & Blur Primer's appearance at first glance is distinctively different from most primers because it is a white thick gel-like cream instead of a liquid. Spreading it is effortless and makes my skin smooth. Due to my oily-combination skin, I applied it to the center of my face and my T-zone. If you have dry skin, the mattifying formula can make your skin a bit tight if you don't prepare it properly. Hours later, I discovered traces of oil on my face, particularly in the area close to my nose, which is typical for me. The problem was easily resolved by blotting it with a powder. Overall, I am fond of it. And it will be part of my makeup routine. I received the product complimentary from Estee Lauder.

I was using the Mattifier before, which I loved, so I was hoping this replacement would be just as good. Wrong. It doesn’t go on smoothly. I feel like I’m pushing/pulling on my skin to get it to glide on, and then it feels the same once I put my foundation over it. Every time Estée Lauder changes a main staple, it never seems to be for the better. I’ve been using only Estée Lauder products for 20+ years and I’m getting ready to start using products from other companies, because I don’t think their standards are as high anymore. New foundation…eh. No more under eye highlighter coverup. I easily spend almost $300+ every time I have to stock up for things that are not that amazing anymore.
I've never used a primer before—my go-to under foundation has always been an intense moisturizing lotion. So, how did I end up buying one? It all started when I received a small tube of Estée Lauder primer as part of a mini travel kit, a free gift when I spent $95. Oh God, after the first application, I immediately saw the difference it made to my look! My foundation went on smoother, my skin appeared more flawless, and the makeup stayed in place much longer.Needless to say, primer has now become an essential part of my beauty routine. I can't believe I went without it for so long! Highly recommend trying it if you haven't already.
I have been using Estee Lauder's The Smoother primer for years (excellent product), and purchased this after realizing the former was discontinued. Smooth & Blur primer is the most appalling primer I have ever encountered, at any price point. When used under makeup, the primer caused all my makeup to ball up, flake, and congeal in blotches. If just worn over moisturizer, this primer turned into a white, chalky layer of dust - imagine mixing chalk powder into water and smearing it all over your face. It is literally unusable.Estee Lauder should be ashamed of ever releasing this product, and Nordstrom for carrying such an awful product.
After being a huge fan of the brilliant 'Smooth Universal Primer' I was very disappointed that it had been replaced with this 'product'. If it didn't have Estee Lauder on the tube, I would have thought it was something from a discount store! It is absolutely useless under any make-up to the point where my manager actual told me I needed to check my make-up in the mirror! My face had flakes and streaked when I tried to smooth it. Who on earth passed this product as worthy to replace the original, really does need a new job! It has really made me aware trusting Estée Lauder after 40 yrs of using nothing else! Quality control please sort this issue out and bring back the marvellous universal primer please!
I was excited to try this out as I normally don't wear a primer under my Double Wear- just Revitalizing Supreme Moisturizer Youth Power Creme underneath.I still started with the Revitalizing Supreme and then the Primer. It went on nicely and application was smooth. However, when I applied my Double Wear, it felt like I was dragging it across my face. My face looked so cakey and dry the whole day- it was terrible. Amplified my lines too. I have combo skin and nothing has ever made my face look this way before. I tried it one more time the next day and same results. Sent it back. I'll just stick with my moisturizer/double wear routine which has been working just fine. BTW- I am a Double Wear user for life!
Estee Lauder is one of my all-time favorite skincare and makeup brands. The double wear foundation is a staple in my make up collection and has always left me flawless. As I age I go for more sheer coverage so I have been using the double wear serum by Estée Lauder. It leaves me with a flawless finish, but doesn't last as long as the original. Introducing this to Lauder double smooth, and blur primer. It's a lightweight product that preps your skin For foundation or can be worn on its own. If you're looking for a primer that controls oil and shine all day long, this is 100% it. My nose and chin are very oily, breaking through after only a couple of hours with any other primer. I've never come across a primer that keeps it at bay as well as this one. I want to love it just for this. But, this primer has a thicker feel to it and unfortunately it seems like it blocks oil and shine so well that it also blocks my skin and keeps causing breakouts on my chin. If this wouldn't cause breakouts, it would be absolutely perfect. I used it for a while in hopes that maybe it would resolve, but it hasn't.
