I didn’t notice any change in how my other skincare products were working, nor did my makeup seem to go on any differently. This product is definitely not for me. It would be better suited to someone with dry/lackluster skin with uneven skin tone and fine lines….and even then I’m not sure it is worth the high price.

There is no color or fragrance to this product, though there is the vague lingering scent of fresh canvas. Something interesting that I experienced was a slight tingling, almost vibrating sensation. I was beginning to fear that I may have been having an allergic reaction, but I didn’t see any adverse effects on my face so I carried on. There are ingredients in this formula that are said to combat redness and irritation. I am not sure what ingredient made my skin buzz in the way that it did, but this was only a fleeting sensation that subsided within a few minutes. Overall, this is a great toning essence for normal to dry skin. Other than hyaluronic acid, this formula also consists of Bifida Ferment Lysate and Lactobacillus Ferment to aid in the repair and strengthening of the skin barrier. If your skin is like mine, falling on the far end of the dry spectrum, you will probably benefit from a heavier toner with a thicker consistency. I ended up using my regular toner afterwards for this reason. I am a true believer in the power of probiotic skincare, so I will be keeping this gem close by for some extra skin biome support when needed.

It got here about a week ago and I really did like how my skin has been looking and feeling the last few days . My skin has felt more moisturized and the dry patches I had on my cheeks are no longer there. It’s a thin liquid but also thicker then water but not oily. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky like some of the exercises I’ve tried and it definitely absorbs fast. Feels smooth

I'm a big fan of fermented products and have been experimenting with different brands, primarily in Korea and Japan. I like that this product is made in Japan as well. I only had a sample size so can't speak to the long the effects But I did use this for about a month, AM and PM, so a little goes a long way.I love the slip of the essence when applying. It feels smooth like oil/silicone without having those ingredients and absorbs quickly with no detectable fragrance. I don't know if the full size versions have the same applicator but it would be better if it had one that dispenses the product better than just pouring it out of the bottle and using too much product. However, there are much more economical priced products in Korea and Japan with similar benefits. I say that, but prior to receiving this to try, I had just splurge on (and delayed using) another Japanese brand in a similar price point as many reviewers had attested to it being a holy grail. I'm glad I got to try this so that I have a benchmark for products in the same price point. This is my first time using Estée Lauder for skin care and I would try other products based on this experience. I have gifted their skin care products to others though.

Gentle yet Effective

I have tried other "fermented" products in the past and generally enjoyed them, but this was my first use of such a product from a brand as big and well known as Estee Lauder. I can certainly see people with drier skin getting more pleasure out of this product.

I had some trepidation at first when I was notified that Influenster and Estée Lauder were sending me a trial size of Micro Essence Treatment Lotion with Bio-Ferment. I have had acne issues with some other K-beauty ferments. Not only did this Micro Essence not cause any acne, but it helped lightly hydrate my (acne-prone but dehydrated) skin, helped to soften some of my very fine lines, and seemed to even out and calm my skin. I always looked forward to applying it, sometimes twice a day, because of the effect it had on my skin and because it just felt like such a luxury. Because it doesn't pack a huge hydration punch, Micro Essence can be used to amplify the effects of a lighter moisturizer (if one is even needed) in the summer and under a heavier moisturizer in colder months.I would recommend Micro Essence Treatment Lotion with Bio-Ferment to anyone not bothered by the price and who is looking for light hydration that works under makeup, moisturizers, serums, and other skincare treatments. Essence is not a step that I had been using in my skin care routine so I was really interested in seeing if it was worth the added time and expense. I really didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised when I tried some on my had and noticed the immediate results of softer and more hydrated looking skin. The trial size bottle didn't have any kind of pump or dropper and so I just poured a small amount into the palm of my hand and patted it into my face, I'm sure you could also use a cotton square or cloth. I have combination skin and regardless of the foundation I used (usually Estee Lauder's Double Wear) it left me with a dewier finish, which I liked, even though it did mean I had to powder a little more than usual throughout the day. I am 35 years old with some fine lines and also thought that it slightly blurred their appearance. Overall, I think this Micro Essence is a very nice product and, in my opinion, worth the splurge.
