Absolute Junk

I am now on my second X8. After fighting with eufy for 1.5 months they finally honored their warranty and sent me a replacement unit. The first unit would not connect properly and was constantly offline. The wheel motor crapped out twice. The "new" unit seems to work ok, however once it gets more than 5 feet from the router it goes offline and none of the map functions work. It will clean about a 10ft by 10ft square then just stops. My wifi envelope is quite good. No issues with signal strength with any other devices so it's obviously an eufy problem... Which is their products are junk. Now that they have sent me a replacement, that also is junk, they won't warranty the product any further. But I was surprised by how much it needs to be babysat. We have it set to run after we go to bed and almost EVERY night for the last two weeks it gets hung up on something or lost. We’re vigilant about picking up the floors before bed and I have my rugs stuck to the floor. Also, on its highest suction mode it’s a bit loud, even with bedroom doors closed - some might not be able to sleep through it.Pros: It has a lot of features - I love features! It starts by creating a map of your house (this bit takes a while and we had to do it twice to get it right). Then once the map is complete you can send it out to clean a single/multiple rooms, a zone (like under the chairs where my kids eat), or a dirty spot (when you open an Amazon package and styrofoam bits go everywhere), or the whole floor (we have an upstairs, but haven’t tried it there yet… too many legos to pick up). I also love that you can create no-go zones - because it was frequently getting hung up on one of our sofa side tables and our fireplace landing area, I just told it not to go there and now it’s not an issue. Love that it has four suction modes, love that the battery life is ridiculously good - it can run for like 2 hours. Love that I can set it to automatically run 5x a day if I want, or to send it out wherever on command. And maybe my absolute favorite thing: it runs in a back and forth motion so I know it’s hitting every inch of floor every night. You can make it do multiple passes of the same area, also - so under the dining table can get cleaned 3x automatically.Overall, I’d recommend this investment to parents of small kids. It really has eliminated the need to sweep, what a gift! But be prepared that the first few weeks will be about making small adjustments until your robot gets acclimated - you’ll be doing a fair amount of search and rescue at the start, and retooling the map. I can confidently say I’m a robotvac convert. Like my wireless Bluetooth headphones or smart watch, I can’t imagine going back to life without a robovac.

Good for maintaining a clean floor.

I set it to clean when I'm not home, but it's quiet enough to use when I'm home as well. Eufy is smart enough to navigate the house and not fall down the stairs. You really need to do a good job at preventing anything from jamming Eufy. That means all electrical cords need to be off the floor or blocked by a wastebasket or something else so Eufy can't get at them. Also, all small pet toys have to come off the floor, as well as window blind pull cords. If you have a throw rug with tassels, they need to be folded under the rug. Once you do all that, you can let Eufy do it's thing. It's only been a few weeks, but we love Eufy!!

Great Improvement Compared to Past Model
6 August 2022

I love the addition of LIDAR and twin engines to achieve compression of dust and 4000pa, but I hate the main brush design. It doesn't deep clean as much as you would think as the bristles and plastic flaps are flimsy. A complete redesign of the main brush that truly agitates carpet is a must and key to getting the most of of suction power. Otherwise it's just good for low pile rug. As someone with a lot of low and med pile carpet throughout my house I hope to see Eufy's next robovac to improve this, along with increase of suction power and some true object recognition AI. This doesn't recognize any objects, it solely avoids them. I also really need another robovac option besides Roborock that can lift the mop up when carpet is detected. With that said I love the design and it's a huge improvement from past models. It's a fantastic robovac especially at the current price (below $400), but can we please get an auto empty dust bin for the next model, either included or sold separately to keep costs of the robovac reasonable. I expect innovation from Eufy, and they used to be a leader in the robovac market but they relied on improved versions of their popular older slam-only based models for too long and fell behind.I expect big things for eufy next time around. Something that will replace my Roborock S7 Ultra (or whatever the newest model is called) as well as Ecovacs Omni, and my i7 and S9 Roombas.

Great attention to detail in the design

But I am sure that will be fixed with a future firmware upgrade.Multi-floor handling isn't working great. Sometimes it doesn't quite identify its surroundings right, and starts mapping on top of an existing map of another floor. That could be handled better and more intuitive. All in all though this vacuum has made a huge difference in our life, enough so that we bought one for each floor.

Great little RoboVac X8 - new version
2 August 2023

I now own three X8 RoboVacs, two I purchased at the same time and is currently on firmware 1.6.5. The new X8 came with firmware 2.2.2 of which does work better with object avoidance and mapping. I confirmed with Eufy the older units will not get the newer firmware. I am still happy with all three, have no experience with other robotic vacuums and did not really want to try so that all the filters and brushes are interchangeable, and I only need to have a few on hand instead of three different kinds. I started with two in the past for my three-level house but did not find the multi-floor function that easy to use or manage. Rarely if ever did it automatically select the right floor. Managing maps and deleting maps could be better. If trying to recreate a new map, do a google search or look to Reddit for recreating a new Eufy X8 map (especially if using single map). Tip: If a single map you want to recreate, reset the map and do not create a new map when prompted, instead turn on multi-floor then you will see the icon to delete the map. Delete the map and then create your new map.Not perfect and they do get confused, especially around floor to ceiling mirrors (even the new one). But in the end, we have had them running daily for over a year and they pick up dirt every single day. With a dog these have been a lifesaver.I recommend the unit and email support has been responsive.

Life-Changing

We have two large, hairy dogs (Malamutes) who shed constantly and copiously. Even though I groom them often, I'd find a clump of hair before I'd even put the vacuum away. Since I lack the wherewithal to do this never-ending task every day, I'd adjusted to living with dust bears and hair in and on everything. I'd tried other robovacs and they were more trouble than dragging out the vacuum. But my dear Eufy has changed all that. The auto-adjust suction takes care of their sticky undercoat on the pile rugs as well as my Miele, and I don't even have it on the highest setting. It doesn't get tangled in rug fringe. It really packs in a lot of hair and dust into the collector, which is super-easy to remove and clean. It really packs in a lot of hair and dust into the collector, which is super-easy to remove and clean. There's even a little tool with a brush on one end and a hair-cutter on the other that attaches inside (so it doesn't get lost). The wheels and roller are designed to prevent hairs from wrapping around them, though when it happens (DH and I both have long hair), removal isn't an issue. The software works great on our iPhones. I appreciate the "stay out" Zone capability, as well as Room and Spot Cleaning. The mapping process is thorough and excellent. The battery is more than sufficient for our large main floor (mudroom, kitchen, formal dining room, informal dining nook, living room, parlor, entryway and halls). AND you can get replacements for all of the brushes and roller, tool, etc. I love, love, love Huey (yes, I named it). I run it every day. Living in a truly clean house has boosted our happiness quotient more than I'd thought possible.

Reliability is an issue

I bought the X8 1 year and 3 months ago. The navigation was never very efficient, but it mostly got the job done. Then last week, I experienced multiple failures. First the mapping system went haywire. It went to the wrong rooms repeatedly. I erased and created new maps repeatedly, but nothing helped. Then, on one of my tries to create a new map, it would just stop dead after about only 30 minutes - with 75% charge left. I put on the charger again and tried it again with the same results. On my 3rd try, it didn't make it to 30 minutes. In about 20 minutes I got a new error message: "Laser sensor not turning".I contacted support and asked them if they would consider a replacement since it was just 3 months out of warranty. They said no. The reason they gave was that "it wouldn't be fair to other customers". To me, what's not fair is to sell and expensive product that fails in several ways shortly after the warranty expires with absolutely no way to recover. This was not my first Eufy vacuum, but it will certainly be the last. I don't know if it is their engineering or quality control that is deficient, but Eufy is part of a global corporation from which I would expect better.

The best robovac around

We've had a few other brands, but nothing touches this product. The X8 is so well designed and give you a host of practical options. We live in a fairly large home. The main floor is hardwood and the upper is mostly carpet. This vac handles both perfectly and has mapped both floors so that it's incredibly efficient when it does both. We've also taken advantage of other features - Spot cleaning, the ability to only do a particular room, or rooms, on a floor, and to block off parts where we have plants and chords is amazing. If our grand kids come over and mess up their playroom, we can send this vac to just that room to catch all the mess. We also love the scheduling feature. We have the week all scheduled out. We just leave it alone and let it do its thing! I would ... MoreWe've had a few other brands, but nothing touches this product. The X8 is so well designed and give you a host of practical options. We were skeptical, but are believers now.

Very Impressive

I bought the Eufy X8 robovac because I’ve enjoyed my other Anker and Eufy products.I got it out of the box and let it go after charging. I had other robovacs in the past, but this one truly stands out.It is so smart. After mapping the house, it ran with little to no issues. Much unlike other robovacs I’ve had, the X8 requires little to no attention (rescuing it from obstacles, etc.). It did get stuck a time or two (that’s it), but when rescued, it learned how to avoid those areas and it didn’t fall for the same obstacle again!I really love the virtual boundary and no-go zones I put around hazard areas (pet bowls, cords, etc.); it’s amazing just watching how it gets to those invisible boundaries and then works around them; it’s very accurate. And how about that ... MoreI bought the Eufy X8 robovac because I’ve enjoyed my other Anker and Eufy products.I got it out of the box and let it go after charging. And how about that laser mapping? Awesome! And it really cleans well, too.I’m really happy with this product and my other Eufy and Anker products and they’re all high quality along with their associated apps. All my Eufy/Anker products work extremely well and the quality is outstanding.I would recommend this robovac over any others.
