Eufy Security eufyCam Solo S40 Spotlight 2K Solar (Wireless)

I needed a solar-powered security camera for a rural property after issues with people coming up our very long driveway at night. This product works very well as it is positioned within the range of our wifi expander and the solar power means no wiring it in which would have been a nightmare because it is away from the buildings. Easy to instal and great instructions through the app. Even my older Mum is able to work that app as a guest so she can see who is coming up the shared driveway to her place. The notifications from the camera are quick - quick enough that I was able to catch one of my kids sneaking out of the house to visit his mate across the paddock and call him back using the two-way speaker built into the system. The camera also has a built-in siren/alarm which you can set off to stress out any burglars who might be lurking about and draw the attention of your neighbours. Cool that it doesn't require a subscription too. Wholly self-contained unit. No base station required. Just instal and go. If you want cloud storage of your videos, it's extra but only about $30 per annum so totally affordable.

Also it works with your own wifi instead of setting up its own network in the way that some cams with a local storage server do. Both cams have been up and running for a couple of months now, power level has barely shifted from 100% maybe a couple of times? Image is good, night vision is excellent, mic picks up everything, also has a speaker, spotlight, and siren if needed (and these can turned off if required). Easy to adjust settings on the Eufy app with plenty of options (better than I expected). A good spotlight, disappointed about the cam

Good concept of having spotlight, cam and solar as a package. Both spotlight and solar self-charging work well on most occasions. However the camera is a hit and miss, it does not record even walk directly underneath it. After two weeks use, it is now displaying as offline. Compared to the 2Pro, the picture quality at night when spotlight turned off is much worse than the 2Pro system. The connectivity to the WIFI rather than the Eufy base makes the system slow to respond and unstable. Based on my setup (On top of a narrow corridor) and pass 2 weeks experience, I am disappointed.

Eufy 2k solar

Large unit compared to other eufy cameras, however this is due to having solar panel, internal battery supply and memory. On plus side an overt camera can work in your favour. Great quality (2k) footage and to not have to get up and change the battery is great. Would buy this again. I have several of the eufy camera options available and they all work well together using the app.

Great simple to use quality camera

Great camera. Quality seems really high, relatively easy to set up (although found I needed to have it closer to the modem for the initial setup). Solar powers wifi connected, so simple. App is easy to use and has good features (and no fees unless you want cloud storage)

Lighting, mounting and notification nightmare.

Camera is way to heavy for the mount. Needs realigning every few days as it droops down no matter how tight the mount is done up. Sends excessive "Your camera is xx% charged. Dont forget to close the USB cover". I will get 20~60 of these every 10~30 mins all through out the day. I cant stop these notifications without stopping ALL notifications. Spot light is dimmer than the two very cheap $5 LED solar lights next to it.

Perfect but

I was so excited about this product. It literally has every single feature you could want, but. It required 5G, a flaw in my research. If you have this Im sure the product will operate exactly as expected. If you dont it will sit in the cupboard waiting till the technology reaches you.

Pros: - one camera now provides spotlight, 2K resolution, solar panel, and internal storage (no base station required) all in one device - set up is simple and fast (make sure you use a 2.4GHz WiFI network or ensure ‘band-steering’ is turned off on your modem/router) - the Eufy app is well-polished and professional, and works on Android, iOS (including iPad and the newer Apple Silicon Macs) - it is completely free to use this camera - there are no subscriptions or ongoing costs. If you want cloud storage, you can pay a subscription for that, but it’s not required to get the full use of this product - it feels solid and well made. My cameras have probably seen more rain than shine in the last 2-3 months, and they’ve had no issues at all with water leaks - the spotlight is very bright for it’s size (it is also adjustable in brightness and warmth) - the 2K resolution is very clear for most purposes (like seeing number plates and faces) - the notifications are prompt (within a few seconds of the activity) and if configured, you can get an image of a person's face within the notification - downloading notifications from the app to your phone is fast and easy - the solar panel charges the camera battery a couple of percent per day as long as it gets a few hours of sun. I’ve been using my cameras for a few months now and they do maintain 100% battery, which essentially means you can 'set and forget' this camera because you never really need to take it down to charge - the internal storage can save several weeks of motion captures - you can talk through this camera (using the app) and it’s actually reasonably loud and clear (much better than older Eufy cameras or other brands) - so you can talk to visitors through the camera - there is an alarm built in which is reasonably loud, but it’s not going to really alert the neighbourhood Cons: - One thing to note is that this camera doesn’t record 24/7 - it only records when it detects motion. - I also don’t believe the camera records to an external hard drive or network storage (might be a deal breaker for some) - The motion detection is very good, however, sometimes you miss the first part of an activity because it takes a second or two to detect and start recording the motion - If someone takes the camera you would lose all your footage (the same for most WiFi cameras without a base station) Ultimately, I think this is the best all in one security camera package you can buy and I highly recommend it to family and friends.

This product is very easy to install, operate and manage. No need for a receiver box to be installed into the router of your network. It is as simple as install the app, add the camera and manage it from your mobile / desktop computer. With the built in AI, you will find the reduction in false alerts (very handy when you have dogs!!) and with the integrated spotlight feature, you will get a crisp, recognisable feature every time. This camera offers value for money and has so many additional controls, including the siren control, custom menu set up. I am slowly adding these cameras to a pre-existing home security system, so it enables me to have both of the running at the same time, without compromising my home security. Wifi troubles

This camera is amazing. It’s has great video quality and has clear sound. But if you have trouble connecting it to your wifi like i did. You have to change the time zone on your phone to Sydney, Australia. Then once your camera has connected to your wifi you can change it back to NZ.
