Best solar panel

This solar panel works great on my 2C PRO cameras. Solar panel feels good quality and not cheap junk. The cable from panel is nice and thick not some thin junk. Keeps cameras topped off to 100% and Im not even sure if the entire panel gets sunlight. PERFECT SIZE FOR RAIN GUTTERS. I used the correct silicon seal on the plug (labeled inside a small baggie) and it was a perfect fit and feels like it will be weather resistant. MAKE SURE TO GO INTO APP AND SET POWER SOURCE TO SOLAR PANEL. Also the mount that I did not use appears to be an upgraded version because the stud that screws into the panel appears to be steel and not aluminum. The mount feels decently sturdy.

I'm editing my review because I contacted Eufy, and after I sent pictures of the panel placement, and logs from the camera, they sent me a new one that works well. It's been up for two days of mixed sun and cloud, and has charged the camera from 73% to 96%. I bought this for a nearly-new SoloCam E20; it holds a charge for a long time, but cold weather is coming, and I'll be less enthusiastic about going out to take the camera down in January than I was in September, so I wanted a solar charger. I sprang for the Eufy branded one instead of the $25 knock-off, but I wish I'd saved my money. I positioned the panel on the southwest corner of the roof. There is *zero* shade on that side of the house, and it's been sunny virtually every day since I put it up, as evidenced ... MoreI'm editing my review because I contacted Eufy, and after I sent pictures of the panel placement, and logs from the camera, they sent me a new one that works well. Initially, I thought the panel was keeping the camera charged, but it turned out it was just the new battery, holding its charge well. There are between 0 and 5 motion events in a 24h period on that side of the house, and I don't sit there, watching the camera on my phone, so a solar panel should be able to keep up with battery drain...but it's just not. The power source is correctly selected in the app, but the battery level goes down at the same rate it did without the panel, so I can only conclude it does...nothing.

I bought one of these for each of my outdoor Eufy cameras, and they work wonderfully. If you can get these on sale, they're worth it. Pros: - These work really well once installed. Even when direct sunlight is only available for a couple hours a day, my cameras get enough juice for "Optimal Surveillance" mode while also topping off their charge. - Compatible out of the box. Just set the camera's power source to solar. Cons: - Relatively expensive considering the alternatives. $60 is a ripoff when non-Eufy alternatives are half that price. I got them on sale for $37, which made them a better value proposition - I wish there were better mounting options available out of the box. At the very least, a right-angle mounting bracket would have made my life much easier ... MoreI bought one of these for each of my outdoor Eufy cameras, and they work wonderfully. No more taking the EufyCam down to charge!
22 May 2021

This thing is incredibly awesome. Purchased 3. Mounted them on my gutters with gutter mounts and in a few days, they took all three of my eufy cam 2 pros to 100% charge and have kept them there. I have one camera that is pointed at my driveway and into the street. That particular camera is getting constant action even with the motion zones set to ignore other stuff. The camera went from 100% battery down to 18% in three months. No way the camera would last the one year battery charge eufy was advertising. Thought I would have to take it down and charge every three months. With this solar panel the camera went from 18% battery left to 100% fully charged in just a few days! With these, I will never have to take my cameras down to charge. Of course YMMV, I have mine ... MoreThis thing is incredibly awesome. Purchased 3. As for the panels themselves, they appear well built, have a long connection cable so that you can mount them further away from the cameras if needed, and come with all the adapters/mounts needed to use with all eufy cams. Overall, excellent product!

Note that the connector has a correct orientation. I thought it was usb c
3 September 2022

I got two of these along with two 4G Starlight cameras. One was charging really well, the other wasn't. I finally noticed that while the connector to the camera is usb-c (and is therefore rotationally symmetrical), the connector from the solar panel is not usb - (and is not rotationally symmetrical). I was ready to return one when I realized my stupid mistake. I had attached the cable upside down to one one of the cameras. I hope this helps out someone else. Besides this issue, a fine product. One photo shows the usb-c. The other the old style connector from the solar panel. They provide a cable that bridges the gap.

Pricier than the competition, but more options and seemingly better build quality

I've had this model and the Wasserstein version long enough now to say that they both work, and with careful placement (and enough sun), they should keep your camera topped off or at least dramatically extend the amount of time between needs for a full recharge. The key is to follow the advice of any of the reputable online solar companies about placement of panels. The ideal setting (in the Northern Hemisphere) is having the cells face due South and then adjusting the angle of the panels depending on your location. (Search for "solar panel angle by zip code" for various sites that will provide optimal angles.) Any shade falling on the cells during the day will also reduce their output dramatically. (Search for "solar panel angle by zip code" for various sites that will provide optimal angles.) Any shade falling on the cells during the day will also reduce their output dramatically. If you don't have a perfect mounting location, you may find yourself better off putting the panel in a place where it gets two or three hours of unrestricted sun rather than many more hours of partial shade. That said, even with relatively poor southern exposure and occasional tree branch-induced shade during the day, this panel keeps a 2C camera that saw a couple dozen recording events a day adding charge, not losing it, on bright days. Shortening the length of each recording session and not using the spotlight definitely helps. And make sure to go into the Power Manager setting to select Solar Panel as the power source. The panel itself only gets four stars largely because of its price compared to the primary competitor. That said, it has several advantages over the Wasserstein model. To start, the Eufy mounting hardware is metal, not plastic. The Wasserstein is designed only for the 2C and 2C Pro cameras, while the Eufy comes with a variety of USB connector gaskets to work with other Eufy camera models. Finally, the Eufy also has a built-in slot for winding up extra cable, something the Wasserstein lacks. All in all, I'm finding it well worth the price to avoid climbing a ladder every few months to charge a camera.

This panel is great! Works very well!
8 April 2022

I bought it initially for Solocam E20 since it has smaller battery but it never worked. When i connect, the blue light turns on with charging indicator on the app and the moment i switch to solar panel mode, charging indicator in app stops too. Even after 2 sunny days it never increased but only decreased. So i ordered a replacement thinking its a bad panel but it behaved the same way. Then I tried it on my Eufy 2 pro and it works as expected. When you switch to solar panel mode, the blue light goes out but the app continues to say it's charging until dusk and it did increase more than 10% or so in 2 cloudy days. So for some reason, Solocam kills the charging when switched to solar panel mode. Could be a software bug, Eufy should probably verify that.

Thoughtful features
6 May 2022

I was finding that my cameras were running out of battery power faster than I'd hoped, probably from enabling HomeKit features. So instead of continuing to charge them now and then with a big battery and cable outdoors (I don't like to take them down and re-aim them), I decided to try Eufy's solar panels. I did consider some third-party solar panels because of the lower cost but what really pushed me to the official Eufy solution was that they took care to include a rubber seal to keep water from getting into the connection. In fact, they included multiple seals to provide for all of their camera models. This was a fact that I had a hard time figuring out online before buying so I'm uploading a picture to help clarify that. This was a fact that I had a hard time figuring out online before buying so I'm uploading a picture to help clarify that. The other picture I'm uploading is a picture of the cord management. I could see that the solar panel came with a long cable but I could find no information about how to deal with extra that I didn't need. I thought I might have to use wire ties or something. But I was pleased to see that the back of the panel includes a place to wind up the extra cable. I really appreciate the value brought be those simple, but thoughtful, features. After running with solar power for a while I can see that the camera batteries are gaining in charge. They do charge somewhat slowly, which is fine because it's plenty to outpace the power the cameras are using. The only thing I wish they had included is a longer, possibly curved mounting arm to get around the gutter and above the roof line to point toward the sun when mounted on the north side of my house.

This is an excellent product for the money. My front door camera gets a lot of action and I had to recharge it every 3 months or so, it's also the most difficult of all my cameras to bring down and recharge since it's all the way out there on top of the entrance, I had to get a ladder climb and bring it down, which was not only annoying but dangerous. Even though it was hard for me to mount (I have a tile roof with no gutter) I have managed to get it to mount using some double-sided Velcro and some tools from Lowe's to get it attached to one of the roof tiles. It's now been two weeks since I got it mounted in my roof, I have changed the camera settings to the highest sensitivity and to catch all movements (not only humans), I also extended the length of the clips to ... MoreThis is an excellent product for the money. Remember, it is important to go into the app and go to: Camera Settings/Power Manager/ then change the "Power Source" to "Solar Panel" instead of "Battery", otherwise you might have issues or low performance, Once you do this, you will see a new Solar icon next to the Camera icon on the app. I just got my second one and will mount it this weekend. I'm planning to get one for all my 4 cameras. It is really worthy. Get it now, you won't regret it.

The solar panel is working as advertised if not better. I had read mixed reviews but thought if it could cut down removing the camera time by 50% to charge it would be worth the purchase price. I was pleasantly surprised. I removed the camera charged and battery as suggested to bring the unit to full charge. I replaced the camera to it's previous location, mounted the solar panel & attached it to the camera. I receive direct sun light for about 4 hours a day. It has been about 2 weeks since I installed the solar charger to my camera ( E40) and the battery's charge has remained at100% since the day I installed it. Excellent product.
