I suffer from tinnitus due to years of working with power tools. My old grinder was just killing my ears and giving me headaches. I found this one and it is half as loud, tops.The quality of grind and consistency is top tier, and I love the infinite adjustment to really dial it in.Additionally, it has almost no static, and does not retain a bunch of grounds inside the machine.About the only mark that was missed is the portafilter holder. Due to the angle the grounds come out of the machine, you get some "over spray" onto the counter, and I have to stop and level out the grounds several times. I just stopped using it and grind into a small measuring cup and scoop it into the portafilter now. With the timer, I can dial in exactly how much I need for a single shot.

Overall I'm pleased with this grinder. Some observations having used it daily for a few weeks as a single dose grinder for espresso:* The grinder is impressively quiet while running. The real bummer is that I'll never get back the time I spent documenting my misery with customer service with video and photo evidence. Why is it up to the customer to prove their innocence? Sure I have a replacement coming, and I'm hoping my replacement unit will finally produce the espresso grind implied in the products title and frankly, what is promised. If you turn the stepless knob to fine (while running), the unit will eventually stop grinding (but getting close), but making a stuck motor sound, If you try push the button to grind again, it will make the stuck motor sound and not start without significant turns to the coarser on the stepless knob. So by the time the grinder starts, it's a super coarse grind. bummer. So if you want to make some French press, I have a lot of coffee I can send you. (sarcasm)FWIW, the cheap decals denoting model name are crooked on the case, and not firmly attached. The unit feels solid, and after taking the burrs apart, the unit is constructed well on the inside from what I can see. It should operate properly, which is why I'm opting for a replacement unit. We'll see.

I am thrilled on all of those fronts. I typically make two to six espresso drinks daily and this grinder works exceptionally well for that. There are other Eureka grinders with a lot more controls but I wanted to keep things more on the simple end of the spectrum. The most difficult part of setting this grinder up was dialing in the correct grind for espresso, which was expected. Once the grind is set properly for espresso, you will be happier leaving it alone except for minor adjustments based on your beans. I set the grinding timer for 18g of beans into a dosing cup, about 11 seconds (I'm only putting 18g of beans into the hopper for each double shot). This machine is quiet and efficient and even grinding directly into a portafilter, there is no mess. However they control static, it works, and the coffee consistently comes out fluffy and without clumps. I love the compact size and smaller hopper and how this looks on the counter. The Eureka Mignon Silenzio has made the entire espresso making process faster and more pleasant for me. Highly recommend.
The portafilter fork is cheap and flimsy and doesn’t really confidently hold onto the portafilter while grinding. The rest of the machine seems to be well built, but adjustments are extremely difficult compared to my Virtuoso+ which has a digital timer at half the price. I’d hoped that even with an analog timer it would be easy enough to make small adjustments, but the timer control is loose and moves rapidly to small adjustments so fine tuning is difficult.The grinder also doesn’t really aim for the portafilter well, so you’ll be cleaning up the grinds that miss the filter every time.Grind size adjustments are much better, but still nothing special.Finally, a pet peeve, the logo on the front is just a cheap sticker. As a barista, I was trained 14 years ago and have been using an espresso machine ever since so not new to this. Very happy with the machine even though I have to get used to a bit more mess. I use a dry pain brush that is a few inches wide and a very short handle. It's natural wood with natural bristles so it doesn't stick out nor look odd but fits right in with my all natural theme and it works great to clean up the coffee grounds that make it to the counter.

You practically have to pull the machine apart to clean it. You have to remove four screws - and it's very easy to lose these screws down in to the body of the machine - and then pull off the face plate. My machine's wiring is too short to allow me to pull the face plate down more than 20 degrees so it's even less tenable than in the video they provide where the plate comes down ~90deg. I would not consider this a reliable machine for the price I paid. I'm very unhappy with my purchase. Being out of the 30 day warranty Wholelattelove wouldn't accept an exchange. We replaced an ancient Lelit budget unit with the Silenzio. We're incredibly happy with the upgrade! The most minor of quibbles? The startup torque makes the unit shift counter-clockwise by a degree or two every time it's operated. After filling up seven or eight portafilters over the course of several days, we have to reposition the unit by rotating it the appropriate amount clockwise so it sits perpendicular to the adjacent wall! The horror!Seriously, just buy it. The quietness is well worth the extra dollars.
This is a beautiful grinder that is quieter than other grinders I’ve used (as advertised). It makes really even espresso that doesn’t require any additional work in the portafilter for me. There is a black plastic piece that can be used to keep beans from the hopper separate from the grinder, and it didn’t fit in its slot initially. A little work with a pocket knife and some muscle fixed it. The metal piece that the portafilter rests on when grinding is rough-edged and can scrape up the chrome on the bottom of a nice portafilter. I chose it because I wanted an attractive, well-reviewed grinder that didn’t have a lot of electronics or screens to deal with. It makes beautiful espresso, and I’d buy it again.
