Just like the original silenzio, it is built like a tank, is very quiet, and has a consistent grind. The addition of the copper finish is fantastic, and the upgraded 55mm burrs help as well. The timed grind dial also can be pressed into the side of the case now so it doesn't get bumped, which happened to me a lot on the previous model when wiping down the counter.Only buy this if you plan to use it for a single use, though. It is not easy to adjust between espresso and pour-over grind, as it will take multiple revolutions of the dial, with no frame of reference to return to the original settings.Overall every change made from the original silenzio is an improvement, and I only paid more for this one to get the color option--the black one is identical in price to ... MoreJust like the original silenzio, it is built like a tank, is very quiet, and has a consistent grind. Purchased after a very helpful experience using the online chat to work out what was best for us, our grinder arrived super fast and is gloriously quiet. It’s still a grinder, and I didn’t expect silence, but it’s as quiet as you could get while still doing the job well. Also doesn’t hit that pitch that some do where it seems to make your brain hurt. We’d been using the built in grinder on a breville machine that stopped all conversation it was that loud, this is far better and still had the flexibility of settings to grind for espresso nicely with the light roast we use (there was a lot less needing to mess around with settings to get it right compared to the grinder on our machine). Do yourself a favour and get a dosing funnel too, which helps make the process ... MorePurchased after a very helpful experience using the online chat to work out what was best for us, our grinder arrived super fast and is gloriously quiet. Not a big problem anyway. Overall, very happy despite the price tag being a bit above what we wanted to spend, the quality is there for sure.

No complaints here about this gorgeous Eureka Mignon Silenzio Grinder! Shipping was SO fast from iDrinkCoffee. I did not expect to receive it in just a few days. It shipped the same day I put in my order which was incredible! The grinder was packaged beautifully and the contents were in perfect condition.Grinder was easy to set up and learn. I've had no issues so far.I will most likely get a mod to add the tilt to the portafilter holder as well as a dosing cup to make it hands free. It is definitely not hands free and the grinds tend to overflow from the portafilter. Not a big deal at all! I think it would just help workflow.Overall, zero regrets choosing the Eureka Mignon Silenzio Grinder and IDrinkCoffee as a supplier! This was a long-wished-for upgrade from the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, which is not a great grinder for espresso (high retention, messy, and the inner parts are plastic). When the SGP bit the dust due to a broken main gear, I finally had a reason to upgrade.I read a thousand reviews and went back and forth between this model, the Eureka Manuale, and the DF54. Finally, I decided for the Silenzio due to its convenience. While the DF54 is cheaper and allows for single dosing out of the box, I love the option of having a hopper on my grinder, as I don't switch my beans too frequently. And my partner really disliked the idea of single dosing. If you want to, there are enough single-dose hoppers available for the Silenzio, so you can have both, and the retention is low ... MoreThis was a long-wished-for upgrade from the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, which is not a great grinder for espresso (high retention, messy, and the inner parts are plastic). Finally, I decided for the Silenzio due to its convenience. While the DF54 is cheaper and allows for single dosing out of the box, I love the option of having a hopper on my grinder, as I don't switch my beans too frequently. And my partner really disliked the idea of single dosing. If you want to, there are enough single-dose hoppers available for the Silenzio, so you can have both, and the retention is low enough, too. Compared to the Manuale, the Silenzio is much quieter (which was not important to me, but now that I have it, I would not want to miss it) and has a timing wheel.I agree with the other reviews: The timing wheel is very finicky. There are no markers showing you where you are, so the first adjustments are shots into the dark. However, you will find the right setting quickly, and then it will be very nice to have. You can adjust it slightly under the amount you would like to get and manually add a bit of coffee afterwards. What I found a bit worrying is that I had to set the wheel nearly to the max setting in order to get 18g out with my current grind setting. I hope I won't ever have beans that need longer to grind. The other thing I don't like is that you cannot stop the grinding once it starts. If you chose timed grinding, you have to wait till it's finished. The only way to stop the grinding beforehand is to switch off the machine. So, you will need a dosing funnel as you cannot tap the portafilter halfway through the grinding. In this regard, the SGP was actually very convenient. Are these factors worth the upgrade to the Specialita? Maybe. If you have the money, the adjustment of the timing is definitely simpler with the screen, and you won't need to worry about hitting the maximum grind timer. I am not sure if you can pause grinding on the machine's bigger sibling, but this would be another reason for it. However, all of this is convenience only and won't make a difference in your cup. Also, I think the machine looks more beautiful without the screen. And time-based grinding is inaccurate anyway. Even if you have the Specialita, you will still need a scale as the output will vary, no matter how exact your timer is.Other than that, the machine looks absolutely stunning and way more qualitative than the SGP. It is much heavier and very compact. As promised, it's very quiet and produces consistent ground. Very little mess on low retention. In terms of quality coming out there is nothing to discuss.Another point to note: The Silenzio does NOT include the same adjustable portafilter holder as the Specialita, but a fixed one, which is unsuitable for any bottomless portafilter, and to be honest, I am not sure it would work with a sprouted one. So you will have to hold the portafilter while grinding, even if you use the timer.Pros:- Amazing build quality- Much smaller than you might think. Smaller than the Breville SGP!- Timer is handy- Very quiet- Looks beautiful without the screen of the Specialita- Very low retentionCons:- Timing Wheel:- 18g requires setting it close to the maximum setting- Hard to adjust properly- No pausing during timed grinding- You have to hold the portafilter even during timed grinding. The portafilter fork is joke and does not work at all.
After many years with a doser-style burr grinder, bought the Eureka Mignon Silenzio in the hopes of getting something more modern, compact and user-friendly, less messy, and quieter. I am thrilled on all of those fronts. I typically make two to six espresso drinks daily and this grinder works exceptionally well for that. There are other Eureka grinders with a lot more controls but I wanted to keep things more on the simple end of the spectrum. The most difficult part of setting this grinder up was dialing in the correct grind for espresso, which was expected. The key was getting the grind close to correct and making very small adjustments with the adjustment wheel. Small movements of the wheel, once you are at the finer end of the grind range, make a big difference. ... MoreAfter many years with a doser-style burr grinder, bought the Eureka Mignon Silenzio in the hopes of getting something more modern, compact and user-friendly, less messy, and quieter. The key was getting the grind close to correct and making very small adjustments with the adjustment wheel. Small movements of the wheel, once you are at the finer end of the grind range, make a big difference. Once the grind is set properly for espresso, you will be happier leaving it alone except for minor adjustments based on your beans. I set the grinding timer for 18g of beans into a dosing cup, about 11 seconds (I'm only putting 18g of beans into the hopper for each double shot). This machine is quiet and efficient and even grinding directly into a portafilter, there is no mess. However they control static, it works, and the coffee consistently comes out fluffy and without clumps. I love the compact size and smaller hopper and how this looks on the counter. The Eureka Mignon Silenzio has made the entire espresso making process faster and more pleasant for me. Highly recommend.
The portafilter fork is cheap and flimsy and doesn’t really confidently hold onto the portafilter while grinding. The rest of the machine seems to be well built, but adjustments are extremely difficult compared to my Virtuoso+ which has a digital timer at half the price. I’d hoped that even with an analog timer it would be easy enough to make small adjustments, but the timer control is loose and moves rapidly to small adjustments so fine tuning is difficult. The grinder also doesn’t really aim for the portafilter well, so you’ll be cleaning up the grinds that miss the filter every time.Grind size adjustments are much better, but still nothing special. Finally, a pet peeve, the logo on the front is just a cheap sticker. I thought I was removing a protective film, but instead the whole logo came off and left a film behind that I’ll need acetone to remove.Going to give it a few more days before I decide on a return, but very disappointed so far. I’d hoped this would make my life easier in the morning, but so far it’s mostly making a mess and the grind fine tuning hasn’t improved the quality of the shots I can pull vs the Virtuoso+ enough to feel worth it.
I've now had this grinder for over a year, and the "shortfalls" such as they are, remain the same. Basically, it would have been easier to have spent more on the model with the computer screen. Having said that, it's really not all that hard to make fine adjustments once you get used to the machine. I've also spent the time to take it apart and clean it thoroughly...this takes a while but if you follow the YouTube videos, it's not all that hard to do. I think this grinder now works so well that I don't bother using the dispersion tool...I've seen very little difference. I've a few add on suggestions however: A dosing funnel is almost mandatory, you will get grounds spewing everywhere. You can also find a color matching "base" for right under the spout on Etsy to keep your counter even neater. If you have different users with different beans or needs (you can easily get a second hopper) then go for the computer screen model. If it's just you, save the money and enjoy the quiet.
"Dialing in" your grind on this Eureka grinder can be a little tricky till you understand that the dial/knob that turns round and round in both direction doesn't have a beginning/end. Best way to understand how to start the process of dialing in is to watch a video on you tube. I'm personally used to being able to choose extra fine, fine, medium, or course grinds with little adjustments between. That said the grinder IS VERY QUIET which I absolutely love. It is also messy like most grinders. I ended up having to clean the grinder while learning to dial it in because I ground some beans too fine and the grounds plugged up the area where the coffee comes out. It's a learning curve. Bought this to upgrade from. 20+ year old Rancilio Rocky. Rocky is a great grinder and will last at least a lifetime but the doser was a little messy and it was hard to dose precisely. The Silenzio is very quiet and the chute delivers the grounds cleanly into the pf. The timer is a very nice feature but a little touchy to adjust. The grounds come out very even and fluffy. My espresso is definitely better now, probably due to the greater doser consistency. There is also a noticeable reduction in channeling. I hope this will last as long as my Rocky! Nice compact aesthetic too. Some people have complained about the plastic hopper quality but it seems fine to me.
Purchased Red Mignon Zero 9/5. The ordering was very easy, the grinder arrived in less than a week. This was a pleasure to buy from Comiso.I just love the grinder. It is well built and operates smoothly without any significant noise. It is very easy to use. After I dialed the grind it stays very consistent. There is very small amount of coffee retained in the machine thanks to the blower. The adjustment for the grind is continuous and very fine. A couple of things I would improve: the markings on adjustment knob are hard to read, and the holder for the supplied dosing cup is just too flimsy. But these are nitpicks really, I could live with what I got.
