Not the product, but the service at PMT has been appalling. A month after buying this, I’m told there’s a 2-3 wait for it from the supplier.

I put these heads on my Tama Starclassic B/B drums before I really knew what sound I was going for and they immediately replaced the factory G1 clears that were on the bottom. Now, as a great standard reso head, the G1 is already the go to head for many, including me. But I've found with this head on my toms, sized 8", 10", 12" and 16" diameters, they all speak clearly and with an open tone and get out of the way. This innovation reminds me of comparing a fast crash to a standard crash. You still get the initial attack, power and a pure tone when you hit it, but the fast aspect creates a sooner decay like a smoothly tapered studio gate. And it's not a dead shortened ring like the hydraulics create on some toms. For me these heads are great and I've got nothing but ... For me these heads are great and I've got nothing but compliments on my drum's tuning and the sound of these in recordings is amazing, just controlled enough to require little editing. Lastly, batter heads are an important factor so I will mention that mine are UV1s, a great combo with these resos and while I did first miss some of the open depth of my stock G2s over G1s, I feel the warmth and controlled sustain brings the best out of my drums in a way that those original clear heads, muffled or not, can't. Bottom line, this is another excellent Evan's product worth a try, with the proper tuning you won't be disappointed.

Using coated heads as a resonant head is nothing new. It's been done very effectively by many great players. I own a maple kit with 6 ply toms cut with a 45 degree bearing edge. My sizes range from 6 to 14. My batter heads consist of Evans G2 clears. Typically, I have used Evans Genera Resonant clears on the bottom of my toms. However, I have found that combination of heads to produce a sound a bit bright with too much sustain for my taste as of late. The coated Reso 7's work perfectly as described. With the 360 technology, the heads seat easily to the drum and tune up quickly. The sound is warm and with the thinner head, you get the response needed from a bottom head. The sustain is natural but effectively muffled allowing more of the attack sound to come through ... MoreUsing coated heads as a resonant head is nothing new. The 6 inch tom is only 5 inches in depth while the 14 inch suspended tom is 9 inches in depth. The 8, 10, and 12 inch toms are only an inch in difference being 6 inches, 7 inches, and 8 inches respectively. The shallow depths along with my higher tuning preference is where these Reso heads work for me. I prefer for my toms to sing and not sound too muddled. Too much sustain from the resonant heads can cause quick stickings I like to do on my larger toms to not be as clear as I like them to be heard.

Gave my rack and floor toms a warm, full tonal response with a shortened sustain
This is the first time using a coated reso head but they are great easy to tune and really sound good. I'm using them with G2 coated batter heads on my toms and it's a great combo.
After drumming for over 30 years I felt that I was pretty set in my ways as far as what heads I use and have always used. I put these on my Q Drum Co. copper drum kit (tom sizes: 13, 16,18) and was blown away at the warmth and low end that they brought out. I paired them with my usual G2 coated batters and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I have zero tape/moongels on any of them and they resonate enough for the drums to speak but not too much to be overbearing. The thinner ply head also allows you to lug match the top but puts the head at a higher pitch which is how I've always tuned my drums. If you like to tune you drums for a big, open, thunderous sound you won't be disappointed!
After having just gotten a new (2nd) kit, I tampered with various heads and found the sound I was looking for, something for prog rock & prog metal that is more semi-dry & punchy, with not too many overtones. As for the resonant head, this Reso 7 is the exact head I've been looking for on both my kits. It pairs well with Evans Black Chromes (which I use @ band practice), "AND" with Evans Onyx Coated, which I use here to practice @ home alone. For those looking for a more 70's punchy sound, and/or a beefy 80's thrash sound, both of these combos work well (depending on the kit). It creates the dry & punchy sound I've been looking for, yes, but also with just enough resonance to add some flavor (the best of both worlds).P.S. I just wish Evans made these Reso 7 heads ... I just wish Evans made these Reso 7 heads in black, to match my setup/theme, as they're the only thing "white" in my setup.
I put these on my toms. They are very easy to tune. I all never switch from Evans Drumheads, and these Reso 7s will be hard to improve upon. I would not pair these with EC2s because it sounds too dead for me. Probably switching back to G2s the next time I get new heads. I also think the white color accents your shell's finish so the crowd gets a little more classic visual flare.
I think this product is supposed to dampen the resonance, but (to me) it almost enhances it. But it's controlled.
I have used these for years. Great on my maple DW's. I didn't care for them on my birch drums since the issues they address is already are present in a birch shell. They shorten the overtones and naturally pitch higher with out choking the tone. Best kept secret in drum tone IMO.
