This air cooler is a great idea, but there is a lot of room for improvement. The cooler is quiet only on lowest setting, and at that setting there is still a noticeable hum from the fan. To turn it off you must go through all of the higher operating settings - there is no separate on/off switch. It is a small machine that only cools very small spaces - roughly five square metres, at most. Hopefully EvaPolar can improve on these deficiencies and this great idea can turn into an amazing machine that would be a better alternative to using freon based air conditioners.

I really like this little air cooler. It makes a big difference for me in terms of sleeping well at night. You want to put it at the head of the bed, it will blow cool air all night on the second speed and you will feel cooler. I'm 5'4'' tall and it blows past my feet. I don't have to refill it until the morning. My cat likes it too!

Easy to use

great ice cream,We bought the product because we have family and friends who cannot eat dairy. Our first attempt was a simple dairy free vanilla. Our DF family members enjoyed it! It does have a slight gray cast to it and gets very hard after freezing probably due to lack of fat. The Ah hah moment came when we made the first recipe in the book that came with the machine. It is so delicious and easy. If you have the ingredients and think ahead to make the mixture,you can have ice cream faster than making a trip to the corner convenience store. We are very happy with the purchase and are considering buying another insert so we can make both DF and regular at the same time. This is a lifesaver for someone who isn't used to humid hot climates. I put it by my desk during the day and move it to my bedstand in the evenings. When you fill it up and keep it on the low to medium setting, it lasts a surprisingly long time. It's pretty quiet too. It takes a little finagling to figure out how to fill it but then you'll hit a groove.The only mark is that the little plastic positioning rows in the front can easily get disconnected so I have one row that's off its track and I can't figure out how to fix it. Doesn't impact the efficiency though! I also wish it had a timer option and a way to adjust the brightness of the power/speed button. :)

This fan is unique. It has a very "minimal" fee to it and looks great in any room. For power, it plugs into a USB port. This little device is only designed to cool the air in your immediate vicinity, about a 3 ft radius, although it feels the coldest if you’re directly in front of it. If you are looking for something that will cool down an entire room, this is not what you want. I am very happy with mine. Using the dial/control panel on top, you can adjust the fan speed, color and brightness of the light (or turn it off entirely), change from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and set it to change color when the reservoir is empty.It is not noisy although adjusting the fan speed will make the fan sound more, or less audible. It cools the air down by at least 10 degrees directly in front of it. The farther it is from you the less cooling you will feel. I don’t like cold air blowing directly on me for an extended period of time so I set mine about 2 feet away from me and elevate it a bit. This is also a small device; a little cube about 6.5” wide and 6.5” high. It fits nicely on a desktop, nightstand, end table, or shelf.I have not experienced any leakage issues. This device also has an inner reservoir in addition to the one on the outside, similar to a Keurig. I suspect some of the leakage issues arise from continuous filling of the tank, which can oversaturate the inner reservoir and lead to leaks. Only refill the tank when it’s totally out of water, in both the outer tank and the inner reservoir. You can set the device to change color to let you know this. Even when the outer tank is empty, the device will continue to cool for about 2-3 hours, drawing on the water inside to do this. So wait until the machine lets you know it’s totally empty before refilling. Tipping it to the side or not keeping it on a totally flat surface may also cause leaks.This can also function as a small fan without any water in it. The one thing I have noticed is that it doesn’t work well as a humidifier so if you are buying it just for that you may want to look elsewhere. The air it creates is cold, and cold air doesn’t hold as much moisture as warmer air. I have a little hygrometer that came with my humidifier and when I set it in front of the device to measure humidity, there was absolutely no change. So if you want more humidity in addition to cooler air, either purchase a different device or use this in conjunction with a humidifier. That said, you don’t want the air to be TOO humid because that will decrease the device’s ability to cool, similar to a “swamp cooler.”

just to clarify - this is a mini-evap cooler, aka swamp cooler. Works great in dry climates, not so great in more humid ones, and probably ineffective in very humid parts of the country. I have not tried to measure temp difference w/thermometer since the cooling effect is same as "wind chill" - cooling affect against human skin and a thermometer simply doesn't measure this. With fan on high, perceived cooling is very noticable.Regarding other comments re: poor fan output...fan has 4 speeds, maybe user(s) didn't get up to the high speed level...? I have mine on a table 5-6 ft away from my Fam room couch and moist cooling breeze is VERY noticeable and effective. Have saved quite a bit on electric bill.Portability isn't a big deal for my use, so wish it had a larger H2O tank. Need to refill every 3hrs or so, but this would be dictated by fan speed and environment humidity. I always run my fan on high and humidity is typically in low teens.Only thing keeping me from buying several units (bedroom, office, kitchen) is price. $80-99 is a little steep.

Great little unit

Punches well above it’s weight. Perfect personal cooler. We bought it primarily for our elderly dog who was suffering through the summer heat. Although she is no longer with us the unit is still used as and when/where appropriate. Highly recommend for affordable localised cooling. The only draw back is ensuring the unit is totally dry to store if not using for over 1 week.

High quality item

I purchased two of these coolers for my teens to keep their bunks cool in our camper. We usually dry camp and the camper can get quite hot inside, especially the bunk beds. These work perfectly for that and can be powered through the night with a power bank. I purchased a plastic tray for each that the unit sits in on their mattresses so they don't tip over. The fans are not annoying at all, it's a nice steady, gentle white noise. This is a really well made product that is worth the extra cost over the cheap ones you can find on that other big name online retailer.

Only lasted a month maybe

Bought it end of September by early November the plug no longer seemed to fit in the unit and it wouldn’t hold water tonight was leaking all over and the filler hole seemed to disappear. Couldn’t even use it tonight with unusually hot Ohio weather. Looking to return it.
