This interface is fantastic, particularly at this price. Although there are few buttons, it is easy to learn how to use it, particularly with the accompanying app. The preamps are great. The auto-gain works surprisingly well, making it a brilliant interface for beginners. The interface also came with codes for a number of nice free plugins. Overall, I am really impressed with this purchase.

What a brilliant product, Love the simplicity of design. I find the controls intuitive and very easy to use. I also discovered that I can control the input gain from my DAW software so another great bonus. The only reason I have not given five starts is because I am having issues with my unit and I am still trouble shooting the problems with support. But so far Audient support have been responsive. These things happen so I am happy to rate them 4 stars on anticipation of a happy outcome. I will update once resolved. If you have a M1 Apple Mac I would hold off until you see if my problem is resolved satisfactorily or if you can confirm other people with the new M1 Mac have it working 100%.

Quality engineering made affordable. Nice quiet, smooth sounding mic preamps. I am happy to confirm the EVO retains its internal settings when the computer is shut down, so long as the USB-C power supply is maintained. For my purposes, I was happy to accept the absence of a midi interface and a max sample rate of 96kHz. A bit more gain would be ideal for low output dynamic mics, but 58dB is more than adequate for studio work. I'll just have to get a condenser mic for ambient sounds.

I cannot say enough great things about this EVO 8. This is an Audient device like any other. Incredible preamps, sounds fantastic. Easy to setup and update, even easier to use. Love the extra monitor outs. I use this primarily for a secondary monitoring setup at my second desk and it has become a wonderful addition to the studio. Grab this item if you're thinking of a price friendly option for recording or as a monitoring solution. Bang for buck this is it!
Great product, a little plasticy, but what can you expect for $250 USD? I've already dropped the sound device on three seperate occasions, it feel of my crowded mixing desk. The knob on top popped off two of the three times, but it's still working just fine. The DSP chips in the EVO sound interface sped up my Ableton processing. They must work quicker than the Mackie Onyx sound interface chip arcitecture, or perhaps the proprietary ASIO drivers written for the EVO sound device sped up my DAW, either way good product. And the sellers Audiotopia got me the package like a week before it was expected to be delivered and it was brand new in a shrink wrapped box.
I wanted an interface with more XLR inputs than my Scarlett 2i4 and this one fit what I was looking for and is a great price. USBC and phantom power on all 4 XLR inputs was a huge plus for me. The companion software works great, and I love that you don't *have* to use it, most of the basic functions can be accessed directly from the hardware itself. My one complaint is that I really would have liked it to have had a metal enclosure instead of the plastic one, if nothing else it'd give the interface more weight so it wouldn't slide around on your desk.
Audient did some good market research, because they have a lot of flashy features here. The smart gain is functional, 4 XLR inputs for the price is impressive, and having two headphone outs is also quite nice. However, that's pretty much all the good stuff I can say about this interface. The XLR pre-amps are really poor quality, they made my Rode NT-1A sound horrible. They have gain, but it's not clean. The software integration is nice when it works, but there are many times when it didn't. On top of that, there were plenty of times where my microphone gain seemingly dropped by itself for no reason. The only thing I can recommend this for is a cheap way to get two headphone outs and two monitor outs. Other than that, save an extra $100 and buy something nicer, or ... MoreAudient did some good market research, because they have a lot of flashy features here. Really easy to use, sounds great! Love that I can control the interface volume with my volume buttons haha. The smart gain option seems like an extra but it actually comes in clutch when gaining MULTIPLE inputs at the same time. Such a powerful nifty unit!
purchased based on suggestion from colleague. Met the on demand needs of recording in different spaces for pianos using matched pair condenser and ribbon mics. The auto gain setup worked swimmingly well! This will be a main interface for an academic recording for demo and auditions.
Needed more inputs (stereo for acoustic guitar and another input for vocal mic) and this did the job perfectly. This is the ideal solution for this scenario as ADAT is a bit glitchy in my experience
