Evolution R185CCSX Circular Track Saw Kit 185mm 1600W 110V
The Evolution R185CCSX Circular Track Saw is ideal for both trade and DIY users thanks to its powerful motor and optimised gearbox. When combined with the Evolution R185TCT-20CS blade (supplied) it can cut through a variety of materials such as mild steel, aluminium, wood (even with embedded nails), plastic, copper, PVC and more. When cutting mild steel the saw produces a square, ready-to-weld cut with no heat, no burrs and virtually no sparks, far superior to abrasive cutting methods. The saw features an adjustable cutting depth and 0-45 bevel capabilities for versatile cutting in any material. It also features channelled air flow and a vacuum extraction port, that helps to keep the cutting line visible. The electric blade brake and blade guard (that closes in 0.4 seconds) improves user safety and reduces exposure to a spinning saw blade. Supplied with 1020mm of track which is perfect for making straight cuts in long or sheet materials with ease. The saw is also compatible with the Evolution ST1400 and ST2800 tracks (sold separately). These saws have been developed to be compatible with most leading brands of circular saw tracks. Specification Input Power 1,600W No Load Speed 240V 3,900/min., 110V 3,700/min. My previous version of this saw failed after 8 years of "light' use and after checking for obvious faults, it went for recycling. This version was actually cheaper than its predecessor, despite the 8 year time gap. However, it does not in anyway, feel as robust as the original version I purchased. That said, in use the saw performs well and the blade is initially very good. However, after just a couple of 1.5m cuts through oak, the blade has lost its 'edge'. These blades are meant to be able to cope with nails etc. hence I feel I can only award it 4 stars. As for the lack of robustness, only time will tell. So far it has coped with all I have asked of it except cutting across a 40mm thick oak worktop. This was too much for it. In summary: For light diy use it's ... MoreMy previous version of this saw failed after 8 years of "light' use and after checking for obvious faults, it went for recycling. Bought this after a lot of research and comparisons for value, features and review comments. It is very powerful and easy to use with excellent results. I've not thoroughly used all the features yet, but having looked at how they work it all seems straight forward enough. There are a couple of things that aren't great. The saw does produce a massive amount of dust when cutting plywood, so I decided to connect it up to an extraction unit. The adaptor that comes with it slides onto the fitting that is screwed into the side of the saw, so the fitting piece is very securely fixed, however I can't say the same for the adaptor. Using the saw for the first time with me extraction connected, the adaptor actually blew off just because of the air flow and dust through it! ... MoreBought this after a lot of research and comparisons for value, features and review comments. It is very powerful and easy to use with excellent results. Purchased saw and took it straight to the job. To my suprise it has European plug, which is not in the description and I had to use it with borrowed adapter. Contacted Toolstation if they can supply me with adapter and they responded with this:"I do apologise, as we are not technically trained on the items here at Toolstation, and the listing does not state your plug type, I would not be able to advise on this. I can however get you the suppliers name Evolution Power Tools and their phone number 01142511022, they may be able to assist further on this occasionYour ticket 1318671 has been resolved"Didn't expect this from Toolstation.Saw works fine with adapter.

I am very happy with this Circular Saw. I have only used it on two occasions so far but the results were very good. The downside with this type of saw is the dust it creates. I had a good strong vacuum device connected to it which does take a lot of dust away but not all of it. I wouldn’t mark it down for that as this was expected after watching several review videos of various makes. If I was to use it more often I think I could set up a second vacuum cleaner somehow. It’s easy to use and great value so I would definitely recommend it.
The machine began sparking quite alarmingly on engaging and disengaging the power button. So much so that I returned the unit to Toolstaion for safety reasons. They replaced it, no quibble, and the second one was just the same. I queried this with Evolution UK and they were excellent in their concern and feedback. After I sent them a video they had a technician take a look. They eventually reckoned that the sparking must be due to the engaging of the electronic brake on the blade. After quite a while there was a decrease in the amount and ferocity of the sparking and I decided to keep the machine although they were perfectly happy to accept it was not perfect. The machine itself is a good step up from my old one. Cuts very efficiently. A tad heavier than I expected ... MoreThe machine began sparking quite alarmingly on engaging and disengaging the power button. So much so that I returned the unit to Toolstaion for safety reasons. Already own a Rage-B Circular saw but needed a track compatible saw. Advert stated it was the R185CCSX+ but received the R185CCSX instead. This is the same saw but with shorter flex (3m instead of 4m) and missing the LED light. It did however come with the saw track which is great. I already bought the ST1400 and ST2800 tracks so this came with a 1200mm track so totally overkill but will be used for different purposes.Saw primarily purchased to cut Slate Slabs utilising the 185mm Diamond Blade 'for mitre saws only' Although the refurbished saw could definitely be seen to have been in used condition, it functioned perfectly and everything was included. My first cut of Slate made sure it looked 'used' so a brand new saw would have the exact same appearance as this ... MoreAlready own a Rage-B Circular saw but needed a track compatible saw. My first cut of Slate made sure it looked 'used' so a brand new saw would have the exact same appearance as this one. Definitely worth the money and 40% cheaper than the new saw. This saw will be getting some serious use over it's lifetime.Saw was used to cut a quantity of Slate Slabs using the included track for making steps and patio area. Worked perfectly and was able to get incredibly accurate cuts utilising the track. The Diamond saw blade states it is for Mitre use only, not sure why that is though as it works perfect on the circular saw. After switching blades to the included multi-purpose blade, it cut through fence panels with ease.
Bought this saw last week when it was on sale. Took it home and cut a couple of pieces of 1/4 in steel - no problem. Minimal sparks, minimal effort. Took it to work to cut an old equipment rack apart for recycling. It could have been plywood, the saw was so good at cutting metal. The bad - It spits up a lot of small bits of metal. Use a full face shield and a long sleeve shirt. It's a little noisier cutting metal. May want to use hearing protection.
I have an old evolution rage 2 chop saw which has both a clean and accurate cut, so when I was in need of a track saw I thought I would give the evolution R185CCSX+ 1600W 185mm pluge saw a go. Its nicely build and feels substancial.I'd call it top end diy'er. Its fairly simple to put together in terms of installing the blade and screwing on the vaccum port with two screws. Out of the box it gives a nice clean cut, but I would strongly suggest checking all the alignments to make sure it gives its best possible cut, and certainly before using it on a new track (so the splinter guard is trimmed correctly). After adjustment the cut is clean and accurate. Nice long flexible power cable too and a nice little cary bag.Things to check are 1.) After adjustment the cut is clean and accurate. Nice long flexible power cable too and a nice little cary bag.Things to check are 1.) The sole plate is straight and tight and that the blade lines up with the 0 degree cut notch on the front of the sole plate. 2) the 0 degrees and 45 degree tilt set screws are adjusted correctly of which there are two x 3mm hex set screws for each setting. I used some locktite blue thread lock on the screws to keep them for vibrating loose.I also purchased the 14000 2x700mm evolution track, which didnt appear to be well made, it that the splinter guards were deformed and poorly cut at the ends, and the friction rails were not stuck in there recess properly. So I have opted for the new version 1400 G2 track direct from evolution which seems a much better design with quick release clamps. Hopefully screwfix will stock this soon.
Purchased this robust cirular saw a couple of weeks ago. You seem to get a fair amount of power with this solidly built saw. I cut a quantity of 4x2 timber with it. But after 30min or so the motor seemed to make a surging sound and almost cut out. I note on another review they had a similar problem. I didn't want to take any chances, so I took the saw back for replacement although as they are now scarce I purchased another apparently the only one available in the 4/5 branches in this area then got a refund on the faulty saw. Hope this one works better!
Wife wanted a feature wainscotting wall with stuck on timbers, I.e. 9mm mdf strips. I have a skill saw but cannot Guarantee to cut long lengths of 80mm wide strips with a good cut. I purchased the track saw with the evolution track. It took time to set up the saw & track but was able to make accurate well finished, with a very clean cut, strips with the saw out of the box from the 8 x 4 mdf sheet. Creates a bit of dust so attach to an extractor if working indoors. Now ready for the next missive from the boss. Total cost about £170 probably cheapest track saw & track kit out there will not be used professionally but gives a professional finish for a fraction of the price so cannot comment on reliability etc if used daily/professionally but it comes with an excellent ... MoreWife wanted a feature wainscotting wall with stuck on timbers, I.e. 9mm mdf strips.
