Father Christmas left this in the stocking of our eldest (10); Christmas evening was when we opted to try to play. After an unenthusiastic start from the grandparents, within 2 hands, everyone was hooked. When Eldest's friends came round later in the week, with their parents too, the children were straight into it. The parents took a couple of hands to get into it as well, as spectators, but were actively engaged after that! A brilliant game. We're already looking to buy the expansion packs, and the grandparents ordered the "party pack" version straight away (up to 10 players). The one downside is that this pack only supports 5 players, rather than 6 or more.We simplified the rules for the first few hands to get everyone up to speed, too; we haven't added in the ...Ā MoreFather Christmas left this in the stocking of our eldest (10); Christmas evening was when we opted to try to play. I absolutely LOVE exploding kittens! I am 25 years old and love playing this game with my friends. It is perfect for two people or a larger group of people. It is similar to UNO, but with a twist! For any new players who donāt know how to play, I usually show them the instructional YouTube video, so explaining the game is really easy.I HIGHLY recommend getting the two expansions (imploding kittens and streaking kittens). If you donāt want to get both, I recommend adding the imploding kittens expansion first. The reason you canāt play with more than the max number of players is due to the limit of defuse cards and exploding kitten cards. This game is easy to learn how to play , we had a group with ages between 7- 62 and they all picked up the rules quickly. The different cards have their powers explained on them , so if you can read, you don't have to keep checking the rules, which makes for a quicker game too.My 11 year old in particular liked the illustrations and captions on the cards and was laughing out loud
Very fun and enjoyable. The only reason I'm giving it three stars is because the expansion pack cards are a different shade to the normal cards, leading to telling the difference. You can easily cheat because of this. Otherwise, great game! Would reccomend
This is such a fun game. Iāve heard it described as a Russian roulette style game and it is just that. You just never know when you might āexplodeā. There is laughter, there is suspense, and a lot of fun! We personally however, think some of the pictures on the cards are a little gross, and too much for our young kids. Every family is different and thatās great, theyāre just not for our 5 and 7 year olds. They think some of them are nasty to look at, and honestly I canāt blame them haha, they are. Overall, we totally love the game and recommend it! Just know going into about the pictures and if itās for your family/children or not!
We started playing during COVID 2020-2021 and we had a blast (literally, boom š„ š± !) We would play with 3-5 players, and we were hooked. We wanted more cards, so we bought imploding kittens and Streaking kittens. We got to the point where we were strict on the default rulings on the curse of the cat butt, and we even emailed customer service to make sure we are playing all the cards accurately, fair, and square lol.
We love the new strategy cards that come with each expansion! Our question is, is there any mode of play that allows for 7 or more players to play? As I understand it:The original edition has 4 exploding kittens so 5 people can play. The first expansion has 1 imploding and the 4 original exploding kittens so a total of 6 people could play. Then and here is the limitation, the second expansion adds 1 more exploding kitten so a total of 6 exploding (including the imploding) kittens are at play. In theory, this would mean that 7 people could play.But7 people cant play. Because the total number of defuse cards are still 6 from the original edition. Maybe, the second expansion should have included one more defuse card to add to the game.
Now we thaught the original was fun, but adding this to it just made for a whole lot more shinnanigans! Definitely recommend. It's great that they are labeled what pack they come out of so if you want to take it back to original or play with other expansions you can. 3/5 stars highly recommend. Can't wait to see what other expansion packs they come up with!
My kids love this game! I love that itās small, portable, and sturdier than most other card games we own. Most other card games my kids have trouble fitting the cards into the tiny box with the foldable flap. This one comes like a board game with a box and top cover. Easy to use, fun to play, and stays looking new.
