I have the set that runs from 2H to 8B. I have had these four months, and am no where near having to sharpen them, and i use them to at least 20 minutes a day most days. Not even close to breaking, blend well, and stay very sharp, even the softer/darker ones. I mostly use the 2H, F, HB (which is the most worn out), 3B, 6B, and 8B. I am very pleased with the tin case, which is hinged. I actually only look for art supplies in tin cases, as I keep my supplies in a briefcase, and cats will knock it over, and try to play with it. With out the case, one pounce from a 12 pound cat would probably break the pencils.

For toning and shading Jumbos are better because with a long point you can apply pressure past the point that would break a normal lead. Also they don't break easily like graphite sticks. And it is a joy to take a big handful, swing your arm and draw big. You touch up the point as with standard pencils but you need much less sharpening. I think they are actually quite economical in use. And I just love 'em!

Don't dismiss these big pencils as art supplies for a kid! Faber Castell 9000 Jumbo Pencils really are high-quality drawing pencils. I've been looking for professional drawing tools that I can use comfortably, despite the many problems I have with my hands and wrists. These pencils are comfortable to use and, in my view, they produce results equal to best-quality "regular size" pencils. And, if you prefer drawing large, these pencils are exactly what you need.

Easy to hold thanks to hexagonal barrel. Smooth leads making it easier to draw rather being distracted with scratchy feedback from the pencil. Sharpens well as lead is bonded to wood casing.
I never actually received the Faber-Castell 9000 6B pencils that I wanted as they were never shipped to me. My request for an update went unanswered, but if I HAD received the Faber-Castell 9000 6B pencils I'm sure I would have loved them. I'm chalking this up to miscommunications. The COVID-19 pandemic may have factored in as well. Either way, while I can't really give an undelivered product 5 stars, my overall experience with Pencils.com has been good and I would not hesitate to shop with them in the future.
My favorite brand of drawing pencil. Keeps a sharp point, little or no breaking. Sharpens easily. Highly recommend.
Very impressive. All these pencils write and shade very smoothly. And I have not had any grit that sometimes gets into other brands leads. There is a definite difference between grades as well. Many other manufacturers have little to no difference between grades and you can't tell the difference from one to the next and they make you wonder if there is any, but not these. I recommend making a tone chart for yourself because the grades of hardness are different from most brands. I was also pleasantly surprised when I discovered that their 8B was darker than some charcoal. I have tried many other brands which all seemed the same. Now, I've found my home with these pencils. I no longer have a need to try other brands.
This pencil goes down really smooth. I've not worked with 8B pencils before, but this is a reputable brand, and I believe the price is worth it if you buy just the one. The size makes it extra comfortable to hold as well. My favourite thing about it is that it doesn't smudge when you use watercolour over it, making it an exellent base for for watercolour sketches as well as for line-art that looks softer than if you were to use fineliners or ink in another form. I feel invigorated and motivated to sketch when using it!
I've used various pencils and artist's pencils my entire life. For some reason, I had never used Faber-Castell drawing pencils before though I love their colored pencils. They're incredible. My new favorite pencils. So smooth.
I use this and harder leads for preliminary sketches behind watercolor paintings. It does what I need it to do. Faber-Castell is a reliable brand for all art products. I will order these again and again.
