Charcoal sketch set by Faber‐Castell is a great starter set for sketching. My daughter loves to draw and doodle and this set has everything she needs and is easily carried in her backpack. The various shades of the pencils and the blending tool has gotten a lot of use. The pencils sharpen well, not a lot of breakage which is nice. I have even tried them and I like the different drawing effects that you can do with the shades and blending.

I was excited to try out this charcoal set, it has been ages since I have been able to create anything with charcoal. It was fun to introduce my children to this aged art form and the east of blending to create shadows and depth on paper. With my children I showed them how to use these tools on paper, but I myself used a heavier weighted sketch pad. The charcoal pencils worked well on both types and weight of paper. The different sized pointed blending tool within the kit was great and worked well defining small areas and creases. The kit is packaged well, and I simply stored everything back within its same slot within the plastic holder. I do keep the charcoal within a snack sized zippy bag just to keep it from getting all over everything. This is a good and ... This is a really nice set that includes everything you need to do charcoal sketches and drawings. I really like that it includes seven total pencils with two natural charcoal sticks, a medium charcoal pencil, a compressed charcoal pencil, the white pastel pencils, and eraser and a blending stump. For me this is kind of like the ultimate set and everything that you're going to need to start doing this sketches and drawings. I love you using charcoal sets because you can blend and do shadowing and contrast so much easier than other types of pencils. These are nice sized pencils and really good quality. They sharpen easy and just work really well. If you know someone that likes to draw this is a great set to start them out with.
My High School student loves these. She especially liked the kneaded eraser and blending stick. The black pastel stick (?) gives great coverage. He biggest complaint was that the pencils themselves needed a knife to sharpen. All in all I think it's a great kit for someone who's willing to put a bit of effort into sharpening the pencils, lol!! She does use it a lot so it's holding up to the test of time as well.

I just started Charcoal sketching, so this started set is perfect for me. The charcoal pencils glide softly across the paper to make sketching so easy. The black color of the pencils is very deep and perfect. Since beginning charcoal sketching I have used may pencils, but these Faber Castell pencils seem to be the best quality I have used. I have had the richest lines and great shading while using this product.

I dabble a bit with painting, drawing, etc but have never tried charcoal. I've always seen people make beautiful drawings with this and I wanted to try! This has everything you need to get started.
