While I have fed Purina ProPlan canned foods in the past, the prices have become prohibitive, especially when feeding multiple cats. Fortunately, Purina’s Fancy Feast mid-level line has proven to be an acceptable alternate choice of canned food, both in terms of price and ingredients that do NOT include controversial and potentially carcinogenic carrageenan. Fancy Feast is allowing me to maintain my foster cats on a predominantly wet food diet, which is better for obligate carnivores with a low thirst drive.I stay with the Classic Pates to avoid wheat gluten, which can be problematic for some cats, and adding the Chicken Feast to the rotation has been well received by my fosters.

Most of the time, my cats love Fancy Feast pate food. Recently, I've received food with the cans with bulging lids. Bulging lids isn't a good thing. Chewy customer service has been great with replacing the food, but Purina (Fancy Feast owner) needs to get their act together, before someones cat gets sick or worse.I've had 4 different lots (over the last 4 months) of 3 different flavors that were received with bulged lids / swollen . Like I said, Chewy has been great sending a replacement, Purina sends coupons instead of fixing the issue. Examine your food before opening.

So I waited a few days, giving her other Fancy Feast dishes (Salmon, Whitefish, Beef, etc.), then tried another can of the Chicken, with the same results. She refused to eat it, scratching around the dish as if to bury it. Five days later, I gave her another can of Chicken Feast (expiration date Sep 2026) that I had picked up at the store, and she scarfed it down as usually does.I have been getting Fancy Feast products from you for a few years, and I don't remember ever having a problem before. Obviously, the product is bad, so I can't even donate it. I will add Chicken Feast to my next order, and hope there isn't a issue with it.

Cats will no longer eat it. Formula change?
29 March 2024

For the past few years, my cat have LOVED Fancy Feast. They'd always dig right in and eat every bite. In the last 6 months, however, they've started turning their nose up at it. I've tried ordering it from Chewy versus getting it at the grocery store, ordering different flavors, trying different batches in case it was quality control. My cats take one sniff and walk away most of the time. Sometimes they'll come back later and eat some of it when they're starving, but I've been having to throw a lot of it away. Honestly I think that Fancy Feast must have changed their formula to get such a drastic change from both cats.

Monte the Magnificent is a huge fan. Vet, not so much. he's gained a ton of weight after switching to Fancy Feast but it seems like this pate - classic, no gravy, much other fun stuff, is one of the better budget friendly options? He stayed full longer on his other food, was a lean mean fighting machine but he's now he's fat, slow and apathetic. Birds outside you say? So what I'm just gonna nap. Have at it, they're all yours. He's been to the vet, nothing wrong with him, it's only my wallet that's hurting. Well that and he's shedding up a storm on this new stuff. He's not going to like it but he's now on a diet until I can afford to switch him back to his old grub. I never had to worry about how much he ate before but now I constantly have to play food cop ... MoreMonte the Magnificent is a huge fan. Well I bought him a walking vest, am shopping for a leash. We both could use some exercise and now that the weather is warming up, no excuses. Recommend it, do I or don't I? I think it just depends on circumstances. IMO It's not the best, it's not the worst, so I'd say yes but with some reservation.

For the last 6 months my cats have been turning up their noses at Friskies chicken pate. They used to absolutely LOVE it . I’ve wasted so much money . Then I learned that the can could be outdated or the recipe changed coming from a different factory . There is no “use by date” or notification that Friskies changed the content . I had some luck when I bought from my local store which would get it from a different supplier than on line ., but I can’t keep running to the store every week for 7 cans that they only eat half . I had to switch to dry food and found that it can also go bad in a month if you don’t store it in an airtight container . No more 7%23 bags that I threw away half of it too ! Something wrong with this food.
29 August 2024

I gave my two cats the classic chicken. They don’t eat all their food at once, the morning after I fed them I noticed a reddish pink color on the food. I cleaned the dish out and gave them fresh food. That afternoon, my female vomited. I thought it was just from eating too fast. Later that day I noticed the same reddish pink color on the food. I have stopped feeding them this food and am now just giving them dry food. I still have a full 30 cans of this food. Please discontinue my automatic reorder, as I will not be feeding this to my cats again.

Warning Chicken Pate! Dangerous fillers
2 September 2024

I’m on my third case of this garbage. Purina Fancy Feast used to be a good brand but the fillers they are using now look like ground up bones and my boy was sick for several days. Go on Reddit and you’ll see some scary pictures of what people have found in Fancy Feast pate (rubber casings, plastic). Chewy is amazing and has sent replacements but it’s the same issue. If your cat gets sick or if you see strange things in the food, please report to Purina and the FDA. Based on reviews here and on other sites, other cats are getting sick or refusing to eat it due to the “formula change.” I cannot personally speak to flavors other than chicken but I’m done with them.

Which factory is making your Fancy Feast cans?
14 September 2024

Here's something many people do not realize. When you buy Fancy Feast at Walmart in the open packaging with a cardboard and plastic wrap across the top? It's always darker brown even black sometimes and drier. My cat doesn't lie it. Then buy the same product in the cardboard boxes no plastic wrap type packaging. It's always a nice pinker color like salmon and nice moisture. I've tested this theory and I'm certain. It's because the 2 different packaging typing are different factories. So, Purina is selling subpar Fancy Feast Chicken Pate in the plastic top wrapped cans. Then the completely boxed in packaging found at places like Target or Amazon is a noticeable difference in quality. Something needs to be done about this it's serious deception to customers.

[Rewarded Review] Preferred Pate Consistency
9 May 2023

When it comes to wet food, my furbaby prefers thick gravies and softer textured foods. So this pate consistency was perfect to fulfill her appetite. I love that this recipe includes real chicken as the primary and first ingredient, as this is something I intentionally seek out for her. Product does seem to have a stronger that usual cat food odor that I could identify throughout the house for a while after feeding but I do not mind so long as my pet does not mind. And my pet did not seem to be bothered by it but instead was quickly drawn to it and continued to eat without budging until she was fully satiated.
