I also feed my cat raw, but he likes a variety, so I do feed him 50% canned, but have noticed the canned food from my current company is adding inulin and I have never liked their addition of sweet potatoes, carrots, etc.I avoid all cat food with carageenan, grains or legumes - all of these things stretch out the cat's bowel over time and are hard on the intestines. My cat does have access to the outdoors and does also eat wild mice, voles, and grass.I will say that the serving amounts on this bag of freeze-dried food are vague, and I think they must mean daily totals. I can't imagine feeding my cat 2 cups of this (dry amount for large cat) for a serving. I find that around 1/2 cup dry to a little less than 1/4 cup warm water seem to smash together with a fork to make the same volume as a 3oz can of wet cat food. I will see over time. The large 11oz bag seems to contain roughly fifteen 1/2 cup dry servings, and I calculate it's close to the price of the 3oz canned food from this company (chicken & lamb).I hope this company continues making such excellent products!Thank you for bringing this to me, Chewy!

Cat wouldn’t eat it

I wanted to like this for the good ingredients/low phosphorus but my cat sniffed it after I rehydrated some and then she walked away. I tried again mixing 3 pieces with her typical Stella & Chewy’s freeze dried chicken but again she walked away. Tried giving a dry piece to her too and she still wouldn’t eat it. My cat is not usually picky but she also did the same with the Nulo chicken freeze dried while she seems to love the Nulo Turkey & duck.My low rating is for my cat refusing to eat it, not the product/ingredients which seem very good.

I feed my cats freeze dried and raw food since they’ve little. Both of them love this one, especially this flavor!! BUT, 90% of the time, when product arrives, inside will get smashed into powder, and it smashed like 50% of the bag, cats won’t eat those powder, I put in their bowl, they will eat the food and left powder in the bowl, then I will have to mix it with water and have my dogs to help it! Lol. Honestly this price is not cheap, if I don’t have dogs, I probably won’t purchase it anymore because it is so waste. So far I only have experience buying with Chewy for this product, I don’t know about other vendor and it is rare to find in local pet store, maybe in the future, when Chewy ship this, may want consider ship separately in a recycled bag. I really wanted to love this but my cat vomited after eating it.
5 July 2022

I did a lot of research and decided to get this - even though it's expensive - because there are virtually no carbs and the ingredients seemed perfect for obligate carnivore cats. (Our cat used to be able to hunt on the farm and we have moved to the city so she no longer has her steady diet of mice. She's not happy.) I hydrated it according to directions. She gobbled it up - I mean she REALLY liked it. About 5 minutes later, she vomited the entire meal. I thought maybe it was a coincidence since she is a thyroid cat and she has some issues with vomiting. So I waited several days and the next time I added ONE single pellet, dry as a topper to her kibble. Same result. About 5 minutes later, she vomited her breakfast. Several other reviews mention that it made their cats vomit, so just be aware it may not agree with your fur baby!

I should have read the reviews before purchasing, but this is not a habit of mine as I solely go based off the ingredients I see and found this brand to have very good ingredients. My fur-baby has tried many brands of freeze dried meals before and not once has he had a reaction. He’s not picky whatsoever, nor does he have allergies or a sensitive stomach. He has eaten all kinds of pet food - dry, wet, fresh, or freeze-dried from the time he was a kitten to now a 4 year-old. I was so confident we had found the perfect brand. Unfortunately, from the time he started having this food for breakfast and dinner, he has thrown up at least 6 times within the span of 2 days. My cat’s favorite food
7 October 2023

Feline natural has one the best ingredients list and highest % in meat content. The quality is unrivaled, constant and impeccable. No wonder why my cat go nuts for it.Even if they are a little longer (which encourage your cat to masticate, big plus if you have a cat that swallow his food), the nibs fits in a pet libro feeder.Biggest size bag (320g) is decent for the price but I wish Feline Natural make bigger sizes. Overall one of the best cat food I discovered this year. And also the best place to purchase it (price point, variety & service) is here at Home Alive Pets.Really satisfied!

Pickiest Cat in the World Approves!

My cat is picky. When I say picky, I mean she once cost me nearly $1000 at the vet, because she went on a hunger strike when she very suddenly grew tired of her food. She was on appetite stimulants for a WEEK, and wouldn’t eat anything I put in front of her. I tried so many different brands, to no avail; I was out of my mind with grief, totally convinced my kitten was dying of some mysterious illness. About 8 days in to this hunger strike, I remembered that about a week prior, she had a can of Purina Pro Plan: Complete Essentials for dinner one night, when I had run out of her usual food. It was the best food the local store kept in stock, so I kept a box at my house in case of “emergency”. I pulled out a can for her, and didn’t even get it into the bowl before she inhaled the whole thing. Since figuring that out, it’s been the only food she will eat. If we run out at home, and the store is out? She will not be eating, thank you. She quit every other food cold turkey that day, and has not looked back. I don’t know what could possibly be so great about it, but I digress. It’s not a Great food, and it’s *darn* expensive for how not-great it is, so I’ve been looking for relatively cost-neutral (by comparison), healthier foods. I remembered researching this brand (which seemed unreasonably expensive for my budget, until she got hooked on the most expensive cheap food on the market) when she was a kitten, and decided to try it out. This bag came in the mail today, and I slapped a few hydrated pieces of this in her bowl with her coveted Purina. Reader, she ate it out of the Purina, then ran around the house howling for me, demanding I give her more. I know picky cats are picky cats, and there is no one food that will appeal to all of them, but this appeased *my* picky cat, and I recommend you try it! I’m thrilled!!

Yes, it's worth the price!
2 December 2018

After trying several hundred dollars worth of food and spending several hundred dollars at the vet to try fixing chronic diarrhea in two cats (one adult with stomatitis and one kitten) I finally thought I would try a raw-food diet as a last resort before trying antibiotics.During my research I found the freeze-dried options and considered the ingredients; this brand won out based on the content of the food. At the time of this review (12/01/18), the other major freeze-dried cat food brand (from the northern USA) has some very questionable ingredients in their food. After two days of feeding this, the diarrhea vanished...I was stunned. At the time of this review (12/01/18), the other major freeze-dried cat food brand (from the northern USA) has some very questionable ingredients in their food. After two days of feeding this, the diarrhea vanished...I was stunned. Not only that, but both cats actually enjoy the food!I really hope this company continues to stay in business and that Chewy continues to sell their products. As for the food, it is dried to the point of being crunchy and flaky; it will crumble easily but is still easy for cats to consume in dry form. It is extruded into a cylinder-shape about 1/4" in diameter and segmented at varying lengths. My cats seem to prefer it with a little warm water poured over it, but not so much as to turn it soft. They will eat it dry and will eat it completely soggy but that is not preferred. The only thing I really dislike about this food is the price! I assume most of that is to cover the outrageous shipping cost from NZ to the US. If a US-based pet food supplier could reproduce this product and bring it to market at half the cost it would be a game-changer. $120/month on this product is brutal.
