I recently purchased a Fender Strat from Musicians Friend. Upon recieving the strat I noticed the pick guard on this brand new guitar was completely scratched up and looked awful. There was no protective film over the pick guard, and the marks were not pick marks from being played, rather deep tool marks, scrathces and gouges. I told Musicians Friend about the issue, and they were very helpful and apologetic and had no problems sending me a replacement pick guard. A few days later when the new pick guard arrived, brand new out of the box, it was also quite damaged. Again, more tool marks and scratches; and on a white on white set up, the imperfections really stood out. Finally, on the third attempt I was sent yet another replacement pick guard. Of which I was told by Musicians Friend customer service that they would put a "special handling" tag on the item before it shipped to make sure there was nothing wrong with the pick guard. "Specail Handling?" Shouldnt a product be inspected before it is sent out to a customer in the first place? Special handling should be part of the standard operating procedure, I feel. All in all, after going through the waiting, shipping and having to have the pick guard replaced on a brand new guitar, I wasn't very pleased. However, Amanda Stahl in customer service is a rock star! She was very helpful and was very pleasant to deal with over the phone and via e-mail. She made sure I not only got a replacement that I was happy with, but also sent me some strings to replace the ones that had to be taken off for the new pick guard to be put on. Amanda, keep on keepin' on!

NICE BLEND OF 50s 60s SSL5 pickups, famous in their own right. Voicing is inspiring, pick guard fits multiple strat types. I love the live sound thru my fender tube amp with a bit of delay. Even better is the digital recording prowess of this product. Clean sounds a 10. Crank up the SSL5 Neck pickup and fly into Pink Floyd leads or middle pickup CS69 Hendrix Heaven. The fat 50s neck pickup sweet clear tracks. I have two of these. Wiring and pots, all first rate. Thanks Twilight. Last photo shows the start of the 1985 restoration. This month a like new 2011 neck was added (shown). The wood grain, resonance and tone justified the upscale pick guard.

If you're looking for a chrome pickguard, spend the money and buy an authentic Fender one. You will find "mirror" type pick guards which are made of plastic and look like it. This is the real deal and looks professionally installed because it is what Fender Custom Shop would use to make a custom Strat. Bear in mind that these will show every fingerprint so you will need to wipe it down to keep it clean and good looking. They will scratch too if you have too much of your Peter Townsend on. Put some chrome polish on it before you install and you're good to go. It's also made of steel so it will add a little weight to your guitar. Makes a standard Strat look great.
I came into possession of a Fender Partscaster for which I paid $200. I didnt know what parts were OEM or from what models they came. I just knew the sky blue burst was gorgeous and I had to have it. As it turned out, the body was from Fenders American Elite line making the price an absolute steal. Long story short all of the other parts needed to be swapped out. Once the neck was swapped the truss rod adjuster on the heel wouldnt fit with the non-Elite pickguard. The pickguard was a proper mint green but wrong model. I dremeled the notch out so I could temporarily use it. I finally invested in the proper pickguard a couple of years later and I cant be happier with the quality. Quite glad I didnt buy a cheap Chinese knockoff like I had thought of doing. All thats ... MoreI came into possession of a Fender Partscaster for which I paid $200. Quite glad I didnt buy a cheap Chinese knockoff like I had thought of doing. All thats left is to swap out the Fender vintage bridge with the Elite/Deluxe model. And lastly swap out the cheap Tex-Mex pickups for some 60s era handwound models. Theyll be the only non-Elite part since I wont be getting the appropriate Noiseless Gen 4 type.
This shielding pickguard was purchased to go with a single ply 11 hole 'vintage' pickguard. All holes on this part accurately match those on the single ply pickguard making fitting very easy. Quality product that I can fully recommend.
The stock pictures don't do the product justice. I was originally going to go with the tortoiseshell pickguard but for a reason that's way to long to explain, I went with this. I was hesitant at first but as soon as I saw it in person I was like, "yeah, ok, this is pretty cool!) All the screw holes lined up perfectly and there's juuust a touch more room between the guard and the bridge than the old guard that was on it. That is a good thing.
This pickguard comes without any aluminum shielding tape installed on the backside. At the very least, for this price, an aluminum shielding plate should've been included with the pickguard. Also, this information should be included in the description of the item.
I purchased a guitar a few days ago and buying a used guitar online can be a game . When I opened the box and see a nice guitar , but it needs a little cleaning . It will look a lot better with some new parts and buying Fender parts are the best fitting and look great . I buy Fender parts as often as I can .
This shield was almost a perfect fit except for one hole which was not a problem to modify. The custom strat pickguard that I ordered had no shielding and was allowing tons of noise from electrical feedback. After this shield was installed and the strat plugged in, the feedback problem was eliminated. It works so much better than the factory thin application on the pickguard. Brought my MIM Strat sound up to almost a professional model. I didn't like the price but needed the shield and after installation I know it was worth the upgrade. I highly recommend this shield even if you don't change your pickguard. It makes a huge difference in the quality of your sound and you'll hear the difference.
