The 4-bolt neck joint is tight and firm. The switch combinations, volume, and tone pots on this guitar provide a very broad tonal range, operation is smooth and rate of sweep/attenuation is steady, which is further enhanced by the pull/push tone split. Natural sustain and tonic fidelity appear to be on the longer and purer end of the Fender spectrum. Testing with 5 amplifiers and different rigs demonstrated that the "lively bits" under the pick guard play very well with both tube and electronic amps as well as pedal chains and/or multiprocessors.Whether you have settled on your own unique, personal sound or wish to emulate those of players ranging from James Honeyman Scott, Billy Corgan, David Howell aka "The Edge", Hendrix, Trower, SRV, or EVH, I believe that this guitar will deliver whatever your ears desire.A lovely, versatile tribute to the Stratocaster lineage and an excellent value for the price. I couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase.

Seriously, I never put the guitar away in the gig bag because it's an inspiration to see every day. I've played guitar for close to 20 years and this is the first American-made strat that I've owned, and I'm happy I went for it...the build quality and tone improvements compared to my Frankenstrat were apparent right out of the box.First off, I received the guitar in the mail in the midst of the sweltering summer and after letting the guitar acclimate in the AC for a few hours I was surprised to find that the guitar felt set-up and ready to play after a quick ... MoreHaving owned the lake placid blue version of the American Performer Strat for six months now I've spent enough time to say that this guitar is a breeze to play and a stunner for its craftsmanship and stlye. I haven't even changed the strings six months later and there is no fret buzz; although a fresh set-up is probably due.I must add that the overall build of the guitar feels like top quality craftsmanship (especially for the price point) and the vintage appointments like the large headstock and the mint-green pickguard add a customized look to an otherwise classic model.I'm playing through a Supro combo tube amp and this strat has the classic bell-like tones you might expect on the clean channel that can cover everything from country to funk. With the help of the added push/pull circuit, a modern overdriven and full/saturated distortion is easily attainable with the right pedals. The guitar interacts with effects pedals really well and sounds transparent. My original motivation for purchasing this strat was to get the vintage Fender tones we all crave, but the added flexibility of a wider set tone possibilities makes this a great studio guitar capable of covering lots of different sounds. I'm comtemplating having the stock pickups swapped out for a custom-made gold-foil set from an NYC guitar shop, but I also think that the stock pickups sound clear and accurate. The weight of the guitar is not overbearing and feels very comfortable while standing with a shoulder strap. The maple neck looks sharp in contrast with the blue paint, and the wide frets I find are easier to play compared to my former short-scale Strat. As a bonus, the guitar came with a sturdy padded gig bag that hasn't seen much use as I use this for studio purposes, but it's helpful for storage and moving when needed.Another bonus, the 12-month payment plan really softens the purchasing process.

My wife bought this guitar for me as a wedding anniversary pressie after me dropping hints like bricks for weeks. I am really happy with the instrument and she likes the colour (Lake Placid Blue) so everythings good. The setup was great out of the box and it is really easy to play. The Yosemite pickups sound great and being able to use all 3 pickups at once is a real bonus (never had this tone from a Strat before ) I would definately recomend this guitar to anyone looking for a USA made Strat. Also the service from PMT Online was second to none. I was really impressed with the included QC card signed by the person who had done all the preshipment tests (including a playability test) Great service PMT.

Great Guitar!
3 August 2021

This is a wonderful guitar to play! No that I've had it for a little while, I have found that I like it more than I thought I would. I've never been a big fan of the larger 70' headstock, but it actually looks good on this guitar and It has grown on me. I wasn't sure about the neck, because it is a bit thinner than your traditional Fender neck, but it's actually not too thin, like on some of the other modern style guitars out there. The satin neck feels real nice and I really love the jumbo frets that are finished real nicely and have no sharp edges. Actually, the fit and finish of the entire guitar is nicely done. The pickups sound great as well, with sounds that are useable for me in all of the selector switch positions. The satin lake placid blue finish is really ... MoreThis is a wonderful guitar to play! I typically like a finish that reveals the wood grain, but again, I ended liking this finish a lot more than I thought I would. Also to note, the lake placid blue finish does look a bit different in person than on the factory pics. It is a color that looks differently, base on lighting, so you may want to look that other pics of that finish on the internet, or better yet, try to see one in person. I really like the color though.

My New #1

I have Strats with all the custom shop pups but I love the Yosemite pups by Tim Shaw in my American Performer Tele the best and I stopped playing my Strats. The Yosemite pups in this Strat have the perfect sparkling bell ringing tones when clean and the great snarl and growl when distorted. Pull the tone pot switch in position 1 and it lights the the bridge and neck pups together and sounds just like my Tele. Pull the pot in position 2 and it lights all three! Brilliant design Fender! I love the 70s headstock and silver logo. The satin LPB finish feels like a warm blanket to the touch...way comfortable to hold...super light and resonate...sounds amazing! This is the best Strat I've ever owned!

If you are looking for something beyond the standard player Strat, this is fantastic value. Great Strat sound across all 3 pick ups, the coil split works very well, and humbucker is meaty. As noted by others, the 2nd tone knob sticks up more than on a non-coil split pot. Neck finish is very smooth and the instrument set up from Scan was very good including the 6 point trem - sems very stable. I personally love the big 70s headstock and the paint finish is immaculate on this one. There is a slight flaw in the rosewood fret board, but not material to playability at all. Overall - higher end electronics, great finish and USA-made for £250 less than I could find it in stock anywhere else - why wouldn't you?

A beautiful guitar to look at and play!Never ordered a guitar on line before without playing it first. I was a bit nervous, but not disappointed. My only negative comment is against fender; there should be an option to upgrade to a hardcase. Why a guitar of this quality doesn’t come with one as standard escapes me.My Lea Paul Standard came with a hardcase!

Tim Shaw double tap humbucker with yosemite pickups great combo! Covers a wide range. The humbucker in the bridge gives you that fat extra distortion. And when you want that single coil sound pull up on the tone knob and split the coils. Well balanced. Plus you can still get that Sweet Home Alabama sound in position 2 with the HB in single coil mode ! Yosemite Pu's have classic Strat tone in clean channel. The rosewood neck plays and feels good. Came set up out of the box. Fender did a nice job on their Performer Series.Definitely worthy. Kudos!

The best of the best, sir!

I've owned about 20 guitars in my day and been playing for 26 years… this is the best guitar I've ever owned or played. Amazing build. Plays like butter. Tuners are solid. Sounds perfect. The satin finish is genius because it doesn't ever look dirty with grease marks from your nasty hands and arms. I replaced the pick guard with a black one and it looks fire. I've had girls at shows want to take pictures with my guitar afterwards because they love it so much. Same dog, same.

my first US Strat! had a US Tele years ago, the Strat feels so much nicer - the neck is rolled, it's heavier, it just feels "fancy." pickups sound AMAZING, this guitar has truly shown me the beauty of the engineering of the Strat.came perfectly setup, actually dreading the first string break because they have the trem floating PERFECTLY. didnt even know trems could float that weren't FRs. you get about a minor third pulling up, super cool.the only complaint is the finish - it's not Seafoam, it's actually SURF GREEN. Musiciansfriend knows this so i'm not sure why it's still mislabeled (the photo displays Surf Green it's just an error in the description). it will NOT match your Mustang P90, lol. the satin is growing on me but i did wish it was gloss at first. ... Moremy first US Strat! had a US Tele years ago, the Strat feels so much nicer - the neck is rolled, it's heavier, it just feels "fancy." pickups sound AMAZING, this guitar has truly shown me the beauty of the engineering of the Strat.came perfectly setup, actually dreading the first string break because they have the trem floating PERFECTLY. didnt even know trems could float that weren't FRs. you get about a minor third pulling up, super cool.the only complaint is the finish - it's not Seafoam, it's actually SURF GREEN. Kyle made it right but i was a little shocked at first after spending so much.overall this is the nicest guitar i've ever owned, and i'm glad i grabbed it. the coolest, most vintage finish Fender has done for a Strat in a longtime, lots of bland modern colors on the stock Strats and this one jumped out at me.
