I started playing bass in a blues band and I wanted the PBass sound. I decided on the Ultra II Precision Bass, which was one of the best decisions in my musical career.

This, overall, is very good bass with a great look to it. The metal pickguard really sets it apart. I love the options on it. The Ultra II line reminds me of the discontinued Gibson High Performance line - every option any player could reasonably need, and if you don't like them, don't use them! The one thing I don't like is the limit for the knobs. There's a center detent like Taylor uses on the T5/T5z line for a few knobs that's really useful - like the one for the pickup selector that shows when you're right in the middle of using both pickups. What I don't like is, at the extremities, the knob can feel like you're on the center detent, but it'll keep going. I was able to try several in store and found both the P Bass and the Jazz do it (not a single oddball bass ... MoreThis, overall, is very good bass with a great look to it. That gives me long term concerns for eventually turning too far or too much. Just like a standard Gibson knob, there needs to be a definite limit to the rotation.

Lighter weight than some other Basses so it's less tiring to practice. It came with strap locks. It looks good and feels good. It sounds even better with a set of Fender Flat-wound strings. I ordered an extra pick-guard to customize the bass into a more patriotic style. Everything works flawlessly.

Look no further. If you have the means I strongly recommend you buy this bass for literally any style of music. To coin an overused phrase, you can literally dial it in to any sound you want. From Ethio-jazz to Pirate metal.and everything in between, this instrument can do it. Just marry it to an amp that's worthy!
