If you like Fender modelling amp sounds, you'll find this perfect for headphone practice. The selection of Amps is a bit more limited than in a Fender Modelling amp, and the Effects depths similarly limited, but hey, the thing is the size of a matchbox and it allows you to jam along with your online selections, via Bluetooth. Your headphones must be cable, not Bluetooth, however, to avoid latency. But as the headphone cable goes over your shoulder straight into the Mustang Micro, you are not hampered by any connecting cable to your playback device. Until you try this, you may not appreciate how liberating and convenient this is. Its pivoting jack also allows it to go into a Strat recessed socket, many others don't.

Overall:I Just bought this amp last week. I believe this little amp is good but not as good sounding as the Vox amplug2 classic rock. The good news about the Fender amp is that it is rechargeable...can I get a hallelujah. It's also very portable (but so is the Vox) and the Bluetooth capability would make anyone give this a much higher rating than I did on the web site I purchased it from. Now the bad news...You have twelve amps to choose from (which is nice) but on any of the amp settings there is NO gain control, so your stuck with whatever amp you pick and then cannot adjust it to your taste. You do however, have an EQ button but this feature mostly just changes the tone (still no real control). Also, you cannot choose just one effect or add any more to the amp or ... MoreOverall:I Just bought this amp last week. The effects are hardwired into the device. The modify button does a poor job at adjusting any of the effects you choose... and still... there is NO real control over the effects on an independent level. Another negative feature is that it's plastic so IMO, and I never say this because I believe these are rip offs...GET THE WARRANTY. If they are anything like the Vox Amplug2 series they will break with everyday use in 3-6 months at the jack the weakest point. I have purchased at least 20 of the amplug2 amps (a couple still work) over the last 12 years and the Mustang Micro Mini, is every bit as fragile as any of the other handheld amps.In conclusion, and IMO, it's not a bad little unit. It just needs better features and more control over the amps and effects. One last point I would like to make, and that is that IMO, this device is way overpriced and should not be more than $49.99 at the max. Even so, I will most likely keep it for the bluetooth feature and the rechargeable feature. Keep trying Fender you are 50% there. Peace.

It allowed me to take up electric guitar and really hear what it can sound like without bugging the family.More Amp and Modify settings and Effects than I know what to do with right now, which will keep it fun for ages.It sounds amazing (I bought the Shure SRH240A Professional headphones to pair with it on recommendation).Portability was important for me as travelling on long haul flight soon - so ticks this box superbly.Only 4 is for construction as plastic and light so I'm not sure how it'll hold up over time, particulalry the jack, but I've only had it a few weeks so far.Overall I couldn't be happier!!

Decent, if awkward, little amp. Not perfect but good.

This is a great little gadget. But... it does not automatically turn itself off if you accidentally leave it on when you are done playing. It says it does, but I am constantly sitting down, after having etched a few moments away from my wife and kids to sit on the front porch and practice, to find the battery totally dead. This takes if from a solid 4-low 5 star to a 3. A tool is no good if the batteries are dead. The color settings are also a little opaque but does help to keep me from spending all my practice time "dialing in tone" as I find the colors a little frustrating. I just stick to white across the board. I will mess with the amp on occasion to get a little crunch but am not into figuring out my favorite effect. Perhaps I will with time. All in all, this ... MoreThis is a great little gadget. But... it does not automatically turn itself off if you accidentally leave it on when you are done playing. Good sound and Convenient..... with some limitations,
27 August 2022

I picked this up on a friend's recommendation as a better than average headset amplifier. My Likes:In terms of sound quality it is quite good. It is compact and I do like the USB charging feature a lot. The amp models are better than I expected and sound different with each guitar I use, just like a good amp should. The effects were a nice bonus, simple and effective. I haven't tested bluetooth connectivity yet, but I presume that it will do its job.My concerns,Use while Seated - nearly impossible,as with most headset amplifiers, especially with a side mounted jack . With my Fender Stratocaster, it is more easily used because of the top mount, but with any side mount, it gets caught on my knee and can get pulled out when seated.EQ feature. It does not seem to impact the sound very much in clean or driven settings. I would have preferred paying an extra $20 for a small set of wheels for hi/mid/lowOverall it is a B+ for Fender, which could be a quick A with some more mounting options and a small 3 band EQ

Great Headphone Amp

I bought this headphone amp to allow practice during times when near silence is required, this amp is ideal for this purpose. The cost compared to some make it expensive yet with the different amp, effects and equaliser settings plus Bluetooth for connecting your chosen music player so you can jam along using real music make it an investment worth the amount charged. The tones available are ideal for a wide range of musical taste allowing you to twang to country one song and switch to hard rock the next. The only issue with variety of settings is knowing what the setting is set to. You are provided with a colour coded card but a basic LCD display would be better. The amp is very small and well built with the jack plug being hinged to allow for different output ... MoreI bought this headphone amp to allow practice during times when near silence is required, this amp is ideal for this purpose. The cost compared to some make it expensive yet with the different amp, effects and equaliser settings plus Bluetooth for connecting your chosen music player so you can jam along using real music make it an investment worth the amount charged. Much better than VOX! Great selection of amp tones
7 November 2022

I love the different tones that come out of this!! Great design. I like that it folds up nicely next to the guitar and that the volume knob is on the face of the unit. These are important design features because I play in bed. I used to use a VOX but the volume always turned off and the design is clunky and too big for playing in bed because of the size. Did I mention the awsome variety of guitar tones you can get out of this?! VOX and Blackstar headphones amps don't have this level of quality and design. Nice work Fender. Guys, this is worth the extra money!!

Review of Fender Mustang Micro Headphone Guitar Amp

At the time of writing, had it for about 2 months. If you don't want to read the rest, summary is:- very effective, very easy to use, good quality (build, plus sound quality) and decent battery life. Very easy to just pick up your guitar and play without having to mess about with leads, pedals, amps etc.For me - definitely worth the money. The longer version:Very quick an easy to set up. Controls are very simple.Colour code LEDs are not always that clear - especially if viewed from an oblique angle - so you need to remember where you are in the cycle of effects and amps. But overall its pretty straightforward and an effective way of conveying a lot of information very simply. Its not great if you want to tailor the sound exactly, as clearly you don't have ... MoreAt the time of writing, had it for about 2 months. If you don't want to read the rest, summary is:- very effective, very easy to use, good quality (build, plus sound quality) and decent battery life. But overall its pretty straightforward and an effective way of conveying a lot of information very simply. Its not great if you want to tailor the sound exactly, as clearly you don't have the versatility of setting in a full amp/pedal board/multi FX unit - however...... it is very easy to get something pretty close to the approximate sound you want for most "standard" sounds with just delay & or reverb, which makes it very easy to just to pick and play without having to faf about plugging in amps, wiring cables etc etc.Plus you can adjust tone, some of the effects parameters. However remember, the whole unit fits in the palm of your hand, versus £20Kg worth of amps, leads and pedals you would otherwise be using...Overall, i did find the sound slightly brighter on the micro than on Marshall valvestate combo amp, but this may be partly down to my tone settings and preferences, and greater tone controls on the combo.

The best sounding of the headphone amps
13 May 2022

Overall:Really love this. I've tried a few headphone amps that all had that sort of "toy" sound to them...like overdriven amp on a chip. This Mustang Micro is by far the best sounding. I mean, it really sounds like the amps it is modeling...good enough to use on a finished recording. I built a small body travel guitar that fits in a small shotgun case. In that case, I can fit the guitar, a cable (just in case), the Micro with chargers and interface cable, and some extra strings and picks, and a set of earbuds. It's very cool to have a complete practice setup that fits in an 8x36 inch package. I don't miss toting around my small practice amps at all. And, this setup is ideal for rocking out in the hotel room at 4AM. You might balk at the idea of only a few ... MoreOverall:Really love this. But believe me, having fewer choices that all sound great, works perfectly...and gets me practicing instead of fiddling with controls. Oh, and the Micro works great as a mini interface in case I want to record into my laptop. I don't use the onboard models for that, just the plain interface into Amplitube. That's just so I can change sounds in post. But, the sound of the Micro is really good enough to just pick a sound and start recording. Unless you need a ton of extra controls, the Mustang Micro is a great little amp. BTW...I've also used it plugged into a plain powered speaker...works great in a pinch for an instant live amp.
