All my other small or medium flashlights I will eventually throw away, why? Because they chew up batteries and have a short use life. The Fenix light and their headlamp and tent lamp are great, adjustable brightness, long battery life and easy to charge. I wish I knew @ Fenix sooner in my camping, hunting, fishing, hiking adventures. The headlamp is also great for working on my antique sports car! Very satisfied. Joe.

I was seeking to acquire another Fenix E12 flashlight because of the appreciation for the one I currently own. However the 'new' version - Fenix E12 V2.0 - is no match for its predecessor. The one I purchased (from another retailer) once compared to the 'original' and seeing its apparent inferior qualities I immediately returned it. I decided to purchase this one - Fenix E09R Rechargeable EDC Flashlight. It boosts 300 lumens on the 'high' setting (and a 600 lumens 'burst setting'); and was comparable in size to the E12 - though 1/2 in. shorter; and, not to mention that it is an internal battery rechargeable flashlight. I was excited at the idea of receiving this new flashlight... that is, up until the time I compared the light of the two. Of the three main settings - Low, Medium, High - the light output of the EO9R is less than the 'old' E12, and the light is yellow close to a florescent tint. I compared the two flashlights side-by-side. (see photo). The light of the EO9R is broader and less focused (i.e. less intense), yellow, and less bright than the 'old' E12. The light of the 'old' E12 is a bright white (like 56-kelvins white), with a narrow and intense focus, a brighter light output. Despite the disappointment, I will keep the EO9R and continue my quest to find another of the 'old' Fenix E12.

The Fenix E09R my be small, but it's big on performance! With 5 lumen settings, it's amazing that this thing puts out 600 lumens on high. One of the best features this flashlight has is that it is rechargeable and uses USB Type C charging. This means you can charge it with any cell phone charger. Most of the small rechargeable lights are micro USB. I have several Fenix flashlights and are very pleased with all of them.
I hate to leave a negative review as the light is solid and I love the form factor and service from Fenix Store is always top notch as well! The negative is the tint on this light, it is very much in the green space and makes everything looked sickly. Lower levels are especially bad, but tint slightly improves as drive levels go up. I like a warm tint and I know tint is subjective, but this is the worst I've seen out of the dozens of Fenix lights I have. Maybe I received a bad example, but I won't be carrying this light around. Giving it two stars for the small size, convenient charging and excellent build quality.
I recently misplaced something in my car & had to search the entire vehicle in order to find it. It was dark under the seats & I realized I needed a small flashlight in order to see everything - hence the reason for ordering the Fenix EO9R mini/ flashlight for everyday pocket carry. I have several Fenix TK series flashlights so am aware of the high quality & reliability of Fenix products. The tiny EO9R is the perfect solution for that unexpected need for light & is a perfect pocket carry item.
I have two of the Fenix EDC flashlights. The first one i bought I started using it more often than my pocket knife. One day while I was using it I laid it down somewhere and i haven't seen it since. So, now I carry the E09R in my pocket along with a small pocket knife and a tube of chapstick. When i want the light, half of the time I have to empty my pocket to get the light. Now I have attached a small nylon lanyard to it with an over-sized bead on the end of it. It is about 6-inches long. When the light is in my pocket, the bead hangs on the outside of my pocket. Now retreiving the light is fast and simple. I can slip my hand through nylon loop if I need the light handy but not in my hand. I won't be losing this one any time soon.
Got this as an alternative to my PD25R as it's a little smaller (about E12 size) and still rechargeable via hidden USB-C port. Same rugged, bombproof build quality. I find myself reaching for this one less however because I am so conditioned to push the rubber back button to turn on. This one has a keychain loop on the butt and use the side button to turn on as well as switching modes. Bummer that battery can't be eventually replaced.
This is my first Fenix light ! it's the smallest flashlight I've ever owned. it has a very smooth surface and feels great in my hand. I bought this light to replace a Coast HX5 that I lost during a night mission. So far so good. Having a flashlight with multiple modes is new to me but I'm quickly getting used to it. I really like the moonlight mode. My old flashlight just had one bright setting at 168 lumens which was great but it's nice to have a low setting when you're just moving thru your house at bedtime. Low setting is fine indoors as well. For walks outside I like the medium setting. I'm impressed at how far the beam reaches while on Low and Medium. So far I havent really used High or the turbo "burst." Speaking of which - If you're buying this for the 600 ... Low setting is fine indoors as well. For walks outside I like the medium setting. I'm impressed at how far the beam reaches while on Low and Medium. So far I havent really used High or the turbo "burst." Speaking of which - If you're buying this for the 600 lumens "instant burst" mode I recommend just getting a light that features that level as part of its regular menu. Not some turbo gimmicky option. The way it works is as follows: if the light is off you hold the ON button for 2 seconds then the light turns on to the last used setting then goes into 600 lumens mode as long as you keep holding down the button. when you release it it goes back to the previously used setting and remains turned on. If you want to go turbo while flashlight is in use you hold down the ON button for 2 seconds at which point the light turns OFF. then turns back on as 600 lumens mode for as long as you are still pressing down. when you release it goes back to last used setting. wait... what ? So that is the one aspect of this light that is kind of clunky to me. If I could give 4.75 stars I would but I'll still give it 5 because everything else about this light is good. I love the intelligent memory circuit that recalls the last setting I had used. having to cycle thru each setting every time I used the light would be annoying. I love the usb charging. If you get E09R I recommend the wall charger to go with it. I've been using the little guy for about 2 weeks so far off of my first charge out of the box. And I'm pleased with the 4 regular modes on the light - moonlight, low, med, and high. 600 TURBO seems just a little brighter than the 300 lumens on HIGH MODE and the way it's accessed just makes me not even bother most of the time. But we'll see. this is my first Fenix light and so far I really like it. beautifully designed and well made. I'm thinking of buying another another one just to have around in case something happens to this one.
I manage the wine department in a “party store” ln the bay area of northern CA. Some shelves are too deep, limiting visibility of existing shelved inventory. I keep this little light in my pants pocket to shine to the back of shelves. So far, perfect. Very Light weight. Bright. Good battery. For my needs, it was the perfect tool.
