Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick Amber

I got the shade amber since I'm that person who thinks contour should always be cool-toned because it's supposed to mimic the shadow. This one almost nailed it :) not as cool-toned as the contour products i can get here in South Korea, but it's close enough. The other shades look more like a bronzing shade to me tho. However, the reason as to why I got this product in the first place was because of the ease of use. I found this product to be a bit hard to blend even with a buffer brush shown in the picture which imo defeats the whole purpose of stick contour. This has been my go to contour product since it was released when Fenty Beauty was launched. The shade Amber is cool and somewhat grey, but that is what makes it work for my fair olive undertone. The color creates a natural looking shadow that sculpts my nose, cheekbones, and jawline. It is best to apply in small sections and begin blending immediately because the formula dries down very quickly. After that it lasts the whole day for me. I have heard that some people warm it up on the back of their hands first. I prefer to draw the contour directly onto my face with the stick and then blend with a beauty sponge or dense brush. The full size should be enough to last for a couple months of daily use.

Hate to give this a low rating, but this is one of my regret purchases! I got this in ‘unicorn’ and was definitely suckered in by the colour. Maybe it’s because my skin is neutral (in foundation range), but it washes my skin out so much and barely has much pigment to make it unique. Yes, it’s a shimmer stix, but why make this shade when it’s literally the same as confetti (the white glittery one) lol? My skin is combo, sometimes dry and sometimes oily depending on the season, and I say this doesn’t work for either. It feels icky on my skin eventually when my skin is oily and it accentuates every singly dry texture when my skin is dry. Get the freestyle highlighter instead because it’s buttery and stays on your skin longer without any greasy feeling!

I’m not sure if you are still able to get this as last time I checked this shade is gone from Sephora Canada, but if you are, get it! It is a gorgeous orange blush topper. I didn’t like the texture at first, as this actually feels quite dry as you rub the stick on your face. The result is more powdery than creamy. But the color is so pretty that I just look past that. Apply a regular warm matte blush on the cheeks and dot this shade on the top of your cheekbones and it instantly turns the look to become so vibrant and fun. Love this!

I really love Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick. It’s very easy to apply over my moisturizer and foundation also easy to blend. I use a damp beauty blender to blend it out. The color is rich you don’t need a lot but you definitely can if you choose. It last for hours. You can set it with setting powder and setting spray. I use Laura Mercier powder and Urban Decay or Charlotte Tillbury setting spray. When I run out I’m going to buy another. I have several products from Fenty Beauty and have never been disappointed.

Great contour shade for fairer complexions

It is kind of difficult to find a proper contour shade for fairer complexions that aren't super deep or bronzer-like. This contour is by far the best shade I have found for contouring. It really does what it should, create shadows. On top of that, this blends out well which is good news for me as I do get a bit heavy handed with contour. It is really subtle and natural. Took off half a star because the texture is slightly waxy so it takes a bit of pressure and a few swipes to build it up to the intensity that I am looking for. Otherwise, lasts long and doesn't fade which is great. It also doesn't cast a weird ashy undertone even though I'm a warmer undertone and it has a relatively cooler undertone.

Hard to blend, but a nice shade

The contour stick is fairly easy to use, but it’s pretty hard to blend. I’m still learning how to contour, but this stick didn’t do me a whole lot of favors. The shade seems to be alright, but it’s pretty hard to get it to blend out— and that makes it hard to strike a good balance. If I put a lot on, I’ll t’s virtually impossible to blend, and if I only put on a little, blending it basically “erases” the contour. Maybe this would work very well for someone who is experienced with contouring, but for a beginner like me, I think there’s better contouring options out there.

It is very lightweight on the plus side, so carrying it with me isn't an issue. For the product itself, you need to either work fast or just work in sections. It wants to dry down and stay put almost as soon as you put it on the skin. I'm hoping this product lasts a long time for me as there isn't much in it. A little seems to go a long way from my first use. I haven't tried it with my powder bronzer to see if they're compatible and buildable. I love Rihanna and don't want to dislike her products, but some things are a little hard to unsee. For the price, I'd like better packaging and more of the product.
