This machine is smaller than the rest but it so far beats the new models. I have had my few F/P machines, having a large family, washing every day this is by far the BEST I have used. I have had a couple of large new auto smart ones, was not happy at all so contacted F/P and they replaced it with another smart wash model, think it’s about 11/12kg, to be honest and some great advise, smart drive machines I am absolutely not interested in. The current one I have is starting to rust out on the lid and when I need to replace I am buying two of the 5.5 kg machines. Call me old school but when I want a machine to rinse, it should fill with water then rinse, not drain the water then fill again to then rinse wasting water. Suppose it’s the same as these new vehicles, overriding our driving skills.... Trust me, if you want a machine that doesn’t override your preferences choose this 5.5 kg until F/P make the same model in a 11/12 kg one. Hopefully one day. As for the rating of Harvey Norman, I’m here to talk about the actual machine

Our previous washing machine - also a Quick Smart 5.5kg - lasted 18 years. It was always reliable and worked well. This new one is even better! It is very silent. First time we used it we were actually wondering if it was on. Would highly recommend for small spaces and small household.

My wife and I have been married 58 years. Our son arrived in 1967, no disposable nappies! Thus the need to upgrade our washing machine, nappies! Fisher and Paykel had recently brought out their first washing machine with direct drive, motor on main shaft. We purchased one of these machines which we gave away on our move from NZ to Perth 1980. Since then used a pass on machine , then Our Son and daughter in law moved and we purchased their Fisher and Paykel. This has lasted till a few weeks back and now we own a new up to date smaller model. Same control's as before and a pleasure to use. I guess when we pass on some will benefit using this machine.

We bought the F & P MW513 Quicksmart 5.5kg top loading washing machine from Appliances Online who were superb in their delivery services. We replaced our 14 year old machine with exactly the same model F&P washing machine because we had had such great service from it. However, while the new model washes well again, it nearly chugs itself to death with dry reaching during the end of the discharging of water. The whole machine vibrates. It makes a racket loud enough to awaken the neighbourhood. We replaced one new model with another yet the new one does the same. The 14 year old model did not make a great noise on the emptying cycle nor did it shake, rattle 'n roll. I noticed only the auto child-proof lid lock during the washing rinse & spin dry cycles as a new function. The Sales & Service Support Team (Mr. Brodie Coutts - Appliances Online Customer Phone contact) plus the Handy Crew Delivery team were fantastic with price matching, delivery, & removal of my old appliances. I was purchasing 2 replacement whitegood appliances at the time (new Washing Machine & Refrigerator). Bit of a shock after 21 years with a 10kg Queenmaid. So, of course one load is quicker and easier than two. But it’s such a quiet little machine, washes well and spins very dry-ly. Doesn’t take up as much room in the,laundry-nice- and go to,woah is about the same. I’m happy with my choice of Fisher and Payle I’m Getting used to the 5.5kg compared with Queenmaid’s 10 kg but my QuickSmart. Is easy to use, much the same ‘work’ time and the dryer is ‘dryer’ than the Queenmaid.
I have had this same Washing machine model before and found it exactly what we needed. Although a smaller machine it is quite adequate for what we needed and a reasonable price. I had no problems with the previous machine during its useful lifetime, which was just a bit longer than the suggested timeframe.This new machine is again exactly what we need, just right for regular washing for a family.
It washes well and is easy to use but lint appears on my darker clothes especially knits, which is quite frustrating. My old one was the same but I assumed it was due to the age. Maybe there should be a lint filter included. Otherwise good and much quieter than the previous one.
I've had my 5.5 kg top-loading FP for 13 years. It's fabulous. The only thing that happened was the outlet hose broke just recently, which I suspect was a result of age and that part being subject to direct sunlight in the morning for the entire time. I placed a plastic tube over it and it's back up running perfectly again. They are a bit more expensive than other brands but it's worth the peace of mind that comes with the reliability.

The machine itself is a new version of the the same machine we have used and liked for more years than i can remember. It had no problems and suited us fine. We replaced it with the exact same machine because we were so happy with the old one which still works but has finally developed little cracks, just from age. As pensioners, we wanted the same reliability and longevity in the replacement machine, still keeping the old one in the shed just in case the new one does not prove quite as good as its predecessor.
