Fisher Price Soothe N Snuggle Otter

I teach at a daycare, and one of my more difficult sleepers recently started coming in with a similar toy to one of these to use at nap time (I believe it’s a Snug-a-Puppy, which appears to be discontinued). His naps aren’t perfect, but this kiddo went from naps that maxed out at 2 hours with me staying by him and rubbing his back for a good 30 minutes, to now laying himself down to sleep for up to 2.5 hours. After one night, he started putting himself to sleep and staying down all night. It’s been almost a month and they’ve gotten to sleep through the night nearly every night. And even when they don’t, it’s a much quicker settle down period since he’s snuggling with his otter!I don’t know what kind of magic is in this thing, but if you have a fussy sleeper, I cannot recommend this otter enough. This Fisher Price Soothe n' Snuggle Otter is perfect for my little ones. The otter is adorable and very cuddly. My 17 month old son and 3 year old daughter love pressing the otter's belly. The otter comes with 4 settings and volume control buttons. There is a music setting that plays lullabies. The setting below it gives you 4 options; two heartbeat settings, soothing night breathing and white noise. The third setting allows the otter belly to rise and the fourth option is for the light glow effect. My son enjoyed playing with the otter, but it didn't help him fall asleep it actually confused him with play time. My daughter loves playing with the otter. She would snuggle with it during nap time. The idea behind this otter is wonderful. The rhythmic breathing, and music is soothing. I do feel like the music is the same music these types of things have had since even I was a kid (annoying). Piano type / repetitive chorus songs. Music could definitely be updated! I do like that it’s one push of the belly to turn on, and one to turn off. Very simple for quick turn on or for little ones needing to do it themselves. The otter is very soft and can be washed, which is a plus for something that comes into contact with kids. The plastic device used to create the up and down motion feels a little bulky. I know thing’s like this have to be a certain size in order to work but it is a little bulky to be super cuddly.
