I'm using my cutting mat in an atypical fashion. My sewing machine rests on it--atop my dining room table. I can measure things I need to without getting up and moving around (we recently down-sized considerably and this is my remedy to multi-tasking and multi-using my dining room table). It also protects the table and gives me a surface easier to clean than a tablecloth!

I've wanted a cutting mat for a long time and Michaels has so many options but finally decided on the Fiskars cutting mat due to the high reviews and it worked out great! This particular size was great for my needs, my projects all fit within the size perfectly. Also, I really like how there's a lighter side and a darker side so that I could flip it according to the paper colors I was using. The pre-printed measurements are also very helpful when working on something like event invitations. Normally I'd have to pull out a ruler to measure where I'd cut the papers but with this mat, I didn't have to worry about that, I could use the pre-printed measurement indications. Great size, great details, great mat!

The cutting mat is the perfect size to handle all my 20"x30" foamboard. The product's material is flexible enough that taking it from storage to work area is a breeze. I have been using the mat to cut foamboard to size. When I make a clean cut, the mat handles the passing blade very well. Even applying moderate pressure on the mat with the blade, is not enough to cut through the mat. It almost feels like the mat creates an opposing force that pushes the blade up while cutting through the board clean.I purchased the mat online to pickup in store. When handed the board to me, it was flat and showed no apparent damage. On close inspection, the mat was in great shape. Unlike other reviews, the mat does not smell at all. Excellent product. But they couldn't have picked a worse glue for the product sticker! It left a gummy residue that was all but impossible to remove. I couldn't use any harsh chemical cleaners for fear it would remove the lines. So had to resort to less harsh cleaners like lighter fluid, goo gone, and freon. Problem is, most of those cleaners usually leave residue of their own that needs cleaning. So took WAY longer to remove than it should've.
Bought this to work my larger jigsaw puzzles on. HUGE problem was the HORRIBLE smell that emanated from this mat. Smell was evident in the store after I put it in my cart and so strong that I had to drive home with my windows rolled down. It has taken TWO WEEKS for the smell to leave after laying the mat out in my garage. I plan on washing it with soap and drying it in the sun in hopes that the smell will eventually be gotten rid of. Other than that, decent product.

Fiskars makes great products, and this cutting mat is no exception. I have several in different sizes, and I needed another one, a larger one. The quality is amazing.
