Fantastic axe. I had a very large ash tree pollarded the other week. The tree guys cut the wood into rings for me and told me to get an axe to cut the wood up to use on my log burner. They recommend this Fiskars product. It has certainly lived up to the task. It cuts through the rims like a knife through butter.

I bought this axe and have tried it out. Unfortunately it is too small for me and with the benefit of hindsight, i should have bought the X25 but i was buying online because of the COVID-19 shutdown. A little annoying but the product is a high quality one and would be ideal for a smaller person or a child learning how to swing an axe.

This is a great splitter if you don't know to much about axes but want results, this is what id buy... Also it would do just as good as well known expensive custom axes but at a reasonable price, the hand seems great and I don't see the handle becoming loose anytime soon. Perfect for camping and 4wd touring just make sure you get the solid compact fiskars x7 aswell that would be a good combo for the small jobs and large splitting.

Split about 30-40 logs so far. Can’t see how to improve on this axe design. I’ve overstriked about 5 times and no damage, just scuffs This longer length takes some practice to get your aim/distance but I’m 5’9” and very comfortable with it. I don’t swing with insane force so probably could do equally as well with the X25? Happy with purchase.
Fiskars don't disappoint. This is a capable splitting axe, I've been sending it through some 30cm diameter, 20cm thick cherry rounds with ease. The extra few centimetres of length it has over the X17 works well with my longer arms and increases the head speed.
This is a very well made axe. The grip is fantastic and even though it was my first attempt at splitting dense wood, it went rather smoothly. You need to get the swing and the angle of attack just right. (See Fiskars own videos). The top corner has started to show slight signs of damage, but I hope it would get sorted with a bit of sharpening.
These Fiskars splitting axes (I have two sizes) have found the sweet spot in the balance between cutting and splitting. Sharp enough to use as an axe, but the thick blade is not easily damaged or dulled Works better than anything I have ever used for chopping through stump roots. Very effective for splitting. I only use my maul now for driving wedges.
Much reduced effort required, should have had one years ago. Well made Finnish product. Used a mates one - bought my own.
I've been trying to log split with a different cheaper axe and just aggravated tennis elbow. Watched the fiskar video about choosing correct axe size and bit the bullet and purchased the 21. Now wishing I'd done this ages ago. Yes they're expensive but exceptionally well balanced, easy to swing and do the job. I needed a couple of swings on damp heart wood to get it to split right through which 25 with heavier head likely would have done in one swing. However, I'm still happy with the 21 as does most logs first time and is a joy to use! Big thumbs up to Fiskars for making a tool that's a pleasure to use.
After buying 5 different ax and 4 to break and which required a lot of energy I finally find this wonder guaranteed 25 years more. Light, vibration absorb, sharp like a knife. It splits all effortlessly my diam 30 cm. Only pleasure. It's amazing until you see everyone who comes home.
