I have two pairs of 510s pre Adidas and they are so comfy. I was excited for this style and the ability to keep out more mud and debris but I put these on and they were not comfortable. Since Adidas took over the shoes haven’t been the same. Boo.

These 5 Tens are seriously the best MTB product I've ever purchased. They are the most comfortable shoe I have, out of all my shoes. And, I have a lot of different types of shoes. I have over 250 miles on them and dozens of stream crossings. No dirt gets down in the shoe. Every time I clean them up I am amazed that they look brand new again. I took this picture after cleaning them up after a 30 mile ride, with a lot of dust and about a dozen stream crossings. The only thing I would change would be adding a D30 plate on the outside of the ankle. Other than that, these are perfect.

Don’t even bother thinking twice. Awesome shoe.I went .5 size up, makes little difference apart from fitting in a winter sock.Drive through the pedals is insane, grip is crazy good. Stay dry on wet days and really easy to brush clean. Nice to have the ankle padding and the velcro is the handiest way to do your shoes up.

Fits true to size. Better width for me than the trailcross series. Grip is on par with freerider pro lows. Have been using them in a rotation with three Free Rider Pro low and the trailcross flats. These have been the ones i look forward to wearing the most.
Was looking for a flat pedal shoe with either a BOA or Velcro closure. Tired of having my shoelaces chewed up by my front sprockets. The Five Ten Freerider PRO MID VCS mountain bike shoes hit all the checkpoints except I found it hard to get my foot into the built-in sock. Otherwise it was a good fit and gripped the pedals as firmly as the Five Ten’s I currently ride with.Unfortunately after a several tests to insert my foot into the shoe, found this just too much of an aggravation and returned the shoes. For those who do a lot of gravel riding this likely be a winner for you. However, for me who uses his gravel bike almost exclusively on the asphalt, the socks are superfluous.Still waiting for Five Ten to make a purely flat bottom shoe with BOA or Velcro closure.
Great pedal grip, great sole stiffness for power transfer to flat pedals. I've ridden this shoe for 4 months, from the heat of summer thru the cooling temps of autumn, and it's comfortable in all weather. The fit is typical adidas. If you have a pair of adidas shoes, order the same size.I'd like all my shoes to have velcro closures!
Performed excellent. I appreciate the gasket that doesn’t allow rocks or dust to enter the shoe. The Velcro is okay but I understand that it will eventually wear out unlike laces that can be replaced. Either way I prefer these shoes over the Five brand shoes without the gasket.
I wanted platform shoes that were easy to put on (no laces), comfy, and provided good grip – these ticked all the boxes. I didn't want to fuss around with laces so it was either velcro or BOAs. The sock-like sleeve is great for preventing dirt getting in the shoe. Two notable things though: it can get warm in hot days and I sometimes wish it wasn't so stiff. I think if it had a bit more flex it would be easier to walk in but the extra stiffness helps with more efficient power transfer to the pedals.
I've been riding this Five Ten after using Freerider and Freerider Pro's and Crank Brothers Mallet flats. This has the reliable and super sticky sole you expect from Five Ten with additional protection on the inner ankle. The toe box has the same protection as the Free Rider Pro and the upper does not absorb water which helps to keep your feet drier, unlike the Free Rider. The velcro straps work well, don't come loose and are easy to clean if they get muddy. The shoes do take more effort to put on and remove. You can't just slip your foot in without using the fingers straps to pull on. But once on your foot they are a solid platform for aggressive trail riding. They will be a bit warmer on your foot and ankle when the weather warms here, but are an excellent second shoe in your quiver.
