Fjallraven Kajka 75 W - Forest Green - Trekking Backpacks

(153 reviews)

Durable, comfortable and loaded with functions – despite its fairly modest appearance, Kajka is an advanced trekking backpack in the classic Fjällräven spirit. Now upgraded with fine-tuned and improved functions and an innovative, one-of-a-kind wooden frame that impacts the environment considerably less than previously while maintaining its strength and functionality. The support system is designed for female anatomy with ergonomically shaped shoulder straps, and it distributes even extremely heavy loads. The user-friendly Perfect Fit Adjustment System can be easily fitted to the length of the user's back and shoulder width. The hip belt is specially shaped to fit the female form and offers a high degree of carrying comfort on long trekking days. The main compartment is loaded from the top and has a snow lock. It also has a large vertical opening in the front and another one at the bottom to help the user get an easy overview of the contents. It can be divided into an upper and lower section. The lower section has Wet/Dry compartments to keep damp and dirty equipment from the rest of your things. There are also practical zippered pockets in the top lid, sides and hip belt. The top cover can be removed and worn as a waist or chest bag when you want to keep a close eye on your valuables. Two compression straps on each side fasten onto small poles for even and effective compression without blocking the side pocket openings. Attachment points on the top cover and bottom of the backpack. Whistle on the chest strap and rain cover with reflectors. Kajka has been praised by hikers all over the world as well as by the trade press. Amongst other things, it was named 2009 Product of the Year by the Swedish outdoor magazine, Utemagasinet, and Best in Test by Retkis, a Finnish publication, in its large backpack test in 2011.

Awesome Pack

Highly adjustable pack to fit a wide range of bodies. Shoulder straps can be moved in or out and the entire back can be adjusted up or down. Lots of room with many well thought out storage compartments. The top can be removed and clipped to the front of the pack for easy access or used as a fanny pack/shoulder pack. The only con I can say is that the color is quite a bit lighter than it appears in the photo. It’s not a dark green.I would definitely recommend this pack.

I looked at several new packs prior to purchasing the Kajka at Moosejaw, and so far, no regrets at all. It's been too recent a purchase to have used it on my upcoming trek to Patagonia, but i have done a couple of "dry runs" for several hours, with weight, on several of our regional trails. First of all, loading the pack could not be any easier! Three points of access to the main cavity! This flexibility means that i can easily move things around inside to get the maximum volume of cargo and supplies at the very best fit. The rods running the length of the pack also ensure an even compression, so the pack never gets bulky or uneven. Wearing the pack is so far a pleasure, as well! That weight, btw, is hardly noticable when fully loaded, which is more than offset of the fit of the harness, and overall comfort. I'm anxious to get out for another 5 or 6 hour hike around our local prairie hills now that the weather is starting to cool off. I honestly don't see myself ever tiring of wearing this backpack, or wishing i'd made a different choice. This Fjallraven, i'm sure, will be my (almost) best friend overr the next several years.

I can't say enough good things about this pack. The fjallraven kajka 65 is just awesome. I'm 5'7" 230lbs and have always had a hard time finding a pack that fit my frame. The complete adjustability is one of the reasons I wanted this pack and couldn't be happier. This pack has pockets for days. I loaded this bad boy with 60lbs of gear and hiked the one of the hardest trails I've ever seen. The Kajka pack is super comfortble and after my excursion I wasn't sore. It held everything I needed and then some and having a hydro bladder pocket was a nice addition.

Better than expected!
30 October 2019

This was the first backpacking backpack I've ever owned so I was a little worried ordering it online and not trying it on first. I watched a bunch of youtube videos and finally decided to buy it. This bag is great for many reasons but the first is the extreme comfort when using it. I carried 45 pounds on my back like it was nothing. There were plenty of pockets and places to store different things on my trip. At first the bag seems complicated but after two days of use you quickly learn how to navigate it efficiently. Overall I couldn't be happier. Design wise you will not find a better looking bag. I got so many compliments on it and it definitely stood out on the trail. I can't wait to take this bag out on the trail again!

Fjallraven Women's Kajka 65

I bought this backpack to trek Vancouver Island's West Coast Trail and found it to be very uncomfortable. The waistband bottomed out and could not be synched tightly around my waist and despite having many amazing features and fantastic durability, I found the pack to be very heavy before having packed it. The bag's features and many pockets were great but the pack did not make for a suitable back country backpacking adventure and I found myself having to re adjust the pack countless times to help save myself from back spasms, aches and pains. Certainly a good looking and durable backpack but that's about it. I wish this pack worked for me but I don't see myself recommending this pack for outdoor back country adventures.

Great backpack

The backpack arrived on time and in good condition. It had convenient storage and access features and quality construction. Purchased as a gift for my wife and she is very happy with it- she particularly appreciates the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

Great features but did not work for me. Returned
19 January 2022

Like all the compartments in the bag for organization. Material is heavy duty with a very comfortable hip belt. After dialing in the hip belt, torso, and shoulder straps to size, the bag sat very high (~7 inches above shoulders) for me. Found this uncomfortable, when trying to look upwards (to simulate scrambling). Ultimately returned this pack because of a splint found in one of the backpacks frame - hoping this was an anamoly rather than a side effect of Fjallravens wooden frames.

Great pack, don’t expect the colors to be accurate
14 December 2018

I love Fjallraven products and this pack is great. However, if you order it in Forest Green don’t expect it to look like the provided image. The stock photo Moosejaw uses is outdated and your pack will actually look more like the Graphite color. I’ve informed them and they don’t care. Also informed Fjällräven US and they straight up told me that they know their stock photos are off and that they will get around to fixing it someday. Poor product representation and service from both Moosejaw and Fjällräven US.

What a hauler.

I found backcountry extremely helpful in my decision on a backpack. The customer service rep was curious why i wanted haul 100L of potatoes around. But i assured him this normal behavior was necessary. This means i need a sturdy bag with a good pad against the back. Potatoes don't stack flat.If you have to haul a lot of root vegetables or even moderately small livestock. This could be your bag. Doesnt match my coat however. But i didnt dock stars.

Worth Its Weight!
19 November 2015

When I set out to purchase a new pack, I thought I'd try and branch out a bit and research a number of packs before I made my decision. I looked at a lot of different options before I stumbled on the Kajka. It's easy to see why there isn't a whole lot of information available for this pack. The Fjällräven name certainly comes with a heavy price-tag, there are very few retail stores that carry the brand (making it difficult to get a hands-on look at the products), and most of the informational videos are typically just short over-views made by the company themselves. Fortunately, I live relatively close to the Fjällräven retail store in Boulder, CO. So I made the journey to find out more about the Kajka. After looking at the pack, the only thing keeping me away was the price-tag. I had a few promotional codes and decided to purchase the pack online. So here is what I've found with the Fjällräven Kajka 65L Pack after receiving it and testing it out in the Colorado Backcountry...Upon removing the Kajka from its factory plastic wrap, the smell of linseed oil and birch remind you of the unique wooden frame that the Kajka features (if you're not familiar, it's a very good smell). I was a little worried about the durability of a non metallic frame but once I got my hands on it, all my doubts were resolved. The frame is solid. Fjällräven claims that the use of birch wood for the frame reduces the pack's carbon footprint by 90%. I'm all for a lesser impact on the environment as long as I'm not substituting it for lesser quality and in this case, there is no substitute. The pack feels very well built. The thick polyester/vinylon-f fabric that the Kajka is made with, gives the pack the feel that it can hold up to the toughest conditions. Seams feel well constructed and rugged, and zippers/buckles appear to be of a very high quality and operate smoothly. It is apparent that higher weight comes from the quality of the materials used. When purchasing a pack, you need to consider the trade off between weight and durability. While some other fabrics offer a good balance between the two, the Kajka seems to be at the far end of the spectrum... Heavy Weight/Extreme Durability.Moving on to its appearance, the Kajka looks fairly minimalistic. For my style, it is another aspect of the pack that pushed me towards purchasing it. Despite it's simple looks, however, the Kajka is full of features. It seems as though every aspect of the pack has been very well thought out. Two metal rods run the length of the main compartment so that the compression straps pull all of the contents easily. Expanding side pockets allow for extra gear when full, but can lay flat when not being completely utilized. Pouches on each side of the pack allow water-bottles to be stored at different angles for easy access. The waist belt has a heavy-duty mesh pocket on the right and a closed pocket on the left. The main compartment can be opened up from the side, making it simple to get to your gear and avoid "digging" for that something at the bottom. Looking at the Kajka, it's almost hard to believe that there are too many features to list in a short review but that is exactly the case.I know I've been praising this pack but it wouldn't be an honest review if I didn't list the negatives. It's weight... at just over 7 lbs, the Kajka is one of the heavier packs out there. The excellent suspension system, comfortable padding, and adjustability for torso length and shoulder size (S, M, L) seem to make the extra weight disappear when you wear it but ounces are ounces. The other negative.. The cost. Whereas I believe that this pack is worth every penny, at $370, I still found myself searching for ways to chip away at the price-tag. However, after I made the plunge, I've never been happier with any other pack. This is the nicest pack I have had the privilege of using and it will be with me for years to come.Cheers
