Fjallraven Re Kanken Backpack - Black
A special edition of Kånken, made entirely from polyester recycled from eleven plastic bottles. Dyed with SpinDye technology that radically reduces the amount of water, energy, and chemicals used. An everyday companion with the same genius design as the original, but now reinvented from a recycling/recyclable perspective that saves natural resources. Ready to be carried, traveled with, and loved – and in the far and distant future, recycled again. The main compartment has a large zippered opening that makes it easy to pack and unpack. It comes with a seat pad that is stored in the inside back pocket, where it stops the contents of the backpack from pressing against the back – and is always at hand when a pause is needed. There are also two flat side pockets and a zippered pocket on the front, perfect for small items you want to keep close at hand. The carrying system is simple but functional, with handles at the top and flexible, adjustable shoulder straps. Embroidered logo. Address tag inside the main compartment. 100% Polyester.

A little pricey for what you get, but we’ll constructed. Roomy in the main compartment, but I prefer a couple pockets inside my bag for loose items like pens. It has one exterior pocket which has room for a couple smaller items, and then two slip pockets on the side. The side pockets for water bottles are pretty slim, especially if you have a lot in your bag or items that fit from one side to the next like a laptop. I have a couple water bottles that won’t fit at all. The laptop pocket is also very tight with the foam pad. I will need to remove the pad. I am pretty small at 5’ and not a bigger person, and the backpack is a bit smaller. I’m a teacher, so I need to carry books and folders along with my laptop, so this will be a tight squeeze this year.

Bought this for my daughter as a gift in the blue/teal colour. From a cosmetic and fashionable perspective the rucksack looks great. It is also made of good quality materials and should provide some longevity from wear and tear. Practically, I find it restrictive and the rucksack ia much smaller in size than I thought it would be. The backstraps are too fiddly to adjust and the maximum size seemed far too small even for a child when wearing a jumper and winter coat. The rucksack is fine for putting some A4 pads in for school but if you want to use it for a sleepover and pack clothes in it then you'll struggle to fit it all in compared to other general use rucksacks. Overall I'd say this rucksack is good from a fashion perspective, but otherwise poor value for what ... MoreBought this for my daughter as a gift in the blue/teal colour. I have not used my backpack yet. I bought it fir next year s trip to Europe. We are going hand luggage only to avoid losses and because mature age and last time was hard with too much luggage. This little backpack weighs very little a nd will be my handbag for flights. I can fit water bottle, umbrella, pr light shoes, puffer vest, make up and creams, other handbag stuff.I think it won t drag on my shoulders and you can make it stand. I am considering buying strap pads available on line for extra comfort. I have two other soft foldable backpacks, may take one also.

I bought this backpack less than a month ago, so I assume several opinions will change over time (with softness, cleanliness etc). I am finding that it is a little hard to get used to the squareish shape, when I go to put binders in my bag I have to unzip the entire front because the bag is so deep. This means it holds quite a lot though! Further, it has one less pocket than my previous Sketchers backpack, so I am readjusting to putting all of my things into one primary pocket with no dedicated place to put my hard drive or assorted toiletries (the two small pockets suffice fine). I am really happy with the size of the water bottle pockets, there are two on the 17” and they hold my small Stanley. I love the way the bag feels on my back, even with my laptop and books ... I love the way the bag feels on my back, even with my laptop and books it feels somehow lighter than previous bags. Sometimes the straps dig a little into my shoulders, but this could be a tightness adjustment thing. I am really happy with the way the bag looks and feels (the dark blue is a great color), my only long term concern is the thinness of the canvas base, as this is where previous (non Kanken) bags started to break down first, and there doesn’t appear to be any reinforcement. Overall really nice!
I have many items from this brand and love them all. I’ve had this backpack before too and wanted another in a different colour (green). I ordered it online based on the colour on the website. When I picked it up it was more of a dark grey. I went to have a look at the other back packs to see if it was a mistake and found a totally different colour with the same colour name. Neither were representative of the colour online but I went with the paler one, they let me swap no issues but this is a warning that the colours don’t match online. Even two staff members within the store made comments about how the colours online never match those in store. More than just a little concerning.Again, love the brand but if you’re after forest green, they may say they have it ... MoreI have many items from this brand and love them all. I was hesitant to invest in a backpack with the price tag but having wanted a Fjallraven Kanken backpack for a while, I was glad I did so. I am a student, so trying to find a backpack which can be durable and lightweight is not always easy. Fortunately, the backpack is very easy to carry and not too strenuous on your back even during long days.I was uncertain whether to go for the slightly larger size due to wanting space for my laptop but after reading reviews, I found the bag could fit my laptop in a padded case. The zips are easy to undo and fasten and the side zip is really useful for storing things to have on the go. I like the idea the zips can also be well-hidden if tucked into the material properly. The zips are easy to undo and fasten and the side zip is really useful for storing things to have on the go. I like the idea the zips can also be well-hidden if tucked into the material properly. I have had the bag now for nearly seven months and have used it day in and day out since then. There are a few scuffs on the bottom but overall the wear is hardly noticeable. The other good thing is the material on the exterior is waterproof meaning any books or things inside the bag will not be soaked on a rainy day.Perhaps my one complaint is the bag can start feeling weighed down if you are trying to carry heavy loads. At the very most, you can probably get a laptop, charger, notebook, and a few things like a pencil case or a few books in the main compartment. The other thing is the pockets on the side can fit a small water bottle but I have found you cannot try and fit anything bulky ( such as big cups or bottles) which is a bit of a pain. I have heard a few people talk about the issue of straps digging in. Luckily I have not had this problem due to the loads I have been carrying but I can see how this can be an issue and having to pay more for strap pads for some. Overall, I think the backpack is pretty durable and I am glad I made this investment though I feel as though there are few design features such as pocket sizes which could be improved.
I really do not like this backpack for school or traveling. If you use this backpack for your laptop or as a carry on for your travels, be prepared for red marks on your shoulders. I highly recommend pairing this backpack with a thick hoodie to avoid discomfort. For the price and recognition that this backpack has, I would expect some form of cushioning, however, there is no cushion on the straps. This backpack is very simplistic so yay for the minimalists out there but in terms of comfort and quality, it is a hard pass.
I got this for school and it worked great. The slightly smaller size than most backpacks meant I didn't overpack. That being said, it can fit more than you'd think. The material is sturdy and a great color. The only drawback to this bag is a slight lack of space for medium/large laptops. I could just barely fit my 16-inch laptop in the sleeve, and I was a little worried about damage since there isn't much padding in the laptop sleeve at all. However, if your laptop is smaller/you can fit an additional case with your laptop or you have a smaller computer like a Chromebook, this would be a great choice!
Idk why there was no option to choose this color which is the one I bought lol but it is the Terracotta Brown. There were no reviews for this color when I purchased so I decided to show some pictures (w flash and without). I love this backpack!! I’ve had it for two months now and it still looks new. The straps are a little short for my taste so make sure to check that out if it’s a concern for you. I did compare this color to the spicy orange in store and this one is a bit darker. Just fyi because they look pretty similar on the website.
