Can't really fault these pants their fjalraven. Everything from them will be top quality. Haven't tested these pants specifically as I just bought them. But I have another pair of fjalraven kaipak pants that I've owned for 2 years and worn them to the shops, on the trail hiking and to work. And they hold up to it all. Not one hole or wear mark . Slightly scuffed on the knees from always kneeling but the fabric hasn't thinned at all just the colour. Adaptability for weather resistance with Greenland wax which is not too hard to apply and contains no chemicals. I've used all the best dwr and waterproofing products on my other gore Tex gear and it never really lasts. The wax is a better option because you can layer as much as you like. These are now my everyday wear. The material is tough, but is soft to touch, dries quickly and does not easily absorb stains. In the past two years, I would have destroyed 10 pairs of regular cotton jeans. The original Fjallraven pants still look great. The pants are very durable. One of my pairs has a small burn hole (1mm) from when I was welding and a ember did not bounce off. The hole has not progressed and the pant is still part of my daily rotation. I have a few of these pants to rotate when a pair or two is in the wash bin. The pants allow free movement, block the majority of wind and can be worn several days in a row comfortably. I wear them year round. note: there are no traditional back pockets in these pants. It takes time to get used to putting your ... MoreThese are now my everyday wear. These pants are great. I bought 2 pairs for myself (reg) and 2 for my son (long). I like them because of the sturdiness of the material, the reinforced knees and backside and the versatility of the pockets. With all these features, the weight is surprizing good. They are not an "ultralight" garment. My son also needed a pant that functions well in the field when he starts Land Survey school in the fall. These will give him the ability to easily carry maps, tools and other equipment he needs as well as good protection from underbrush.I removed 1 star on this review because of the sizing. The chart is a bit confusing at first and the fit is hard to explain. The leg length "seems" about spot on. If you do not need a long leg then do not order a long leg. Easy. The ... Easy. The waist is another story. The sizes run on the "small to perfect fit" side. There is no stretch to the material so if you need a little wiggle room go one waist size larger, however I am not a fan of the two (33-34 etc) waist sizes that they offer. If you need a 32 and you go 33-34 (for wiggle room) they feel more like a 34 and may be a bit loose. Having them in one size increments would be better. (True to size will be in the eye of the beholder)Be honest with yourself, before clicking ad to cart, about what your actual size is. Don't order by what it says in your old blue jeans. Maybe even measure first?

Saw some comments re: size - these fit true to size for. I'm a 33-34/32 in almost every pair of pants, and a size 50 in these are perfect for both waist and inseam. The fit is a bit different than I am used to, and I like it. The thighs are a little tight on my athletic build, where the lower legs are a bit loose but good for boots and probably would look weird with shoes. The waist is also a bit higher than normal but I really like it. If you've got some serious squatting thighs I'd probably go a size up.Love the leg pockets and material. I did find it odd to not have any back pockets. Definitely rugged and see these lasting a long time. Would definitely buy again, and I ordered a pair of the vidda lite to get some stretch which arrive soon.Compared to the ... MoreSaw some comments re: size - these fit true to size for. The keb have better ventilation and stretch but the vidda seem like you could wear them for 4 weeks straight in the wilderness and they would look and feel better every day.
After a long debate I decided to try a pair and couldn't be happier. I enjoy the feel of these pants, they feel tough. No need to be afraid of riping them on rocks or getting caught on a branch. The waterproofness out of the package is very good. No issues kneeling in the snow.I also enjoy the lace hooks to keep the pants from riding up your boots and letting dirt or snow in.Yes, the price is perhaps quite steep, but quality will always cost more.In hindsight, I should have bought a pair earlier.
I purchased the Vidda Pro trousers last year in February as a replacement for my other hiking pants which didn't hold up to a lot of hiking, bushwhacking, and fires. I've worn these pants for a wide variety of activities including snowshoeing, mountaineering, scrambling, and most notably on a 14 day kayaking expedition in Newfoundland in May 2022 which should be enough use to truly comment on the performance of this very expensive piece of kit. I'll start with what I like: The reinforced knees and butt are durable and prevent those areas from wearing out super quickly. I often have the crotch of my pants wear out before anything else so having the reinforcement there is great. The fabric (G1000) is designed to be used with wax for a water resistant coating. The ... I'll start with what I like: The reinforced knees and butt are durable and prevent those areas from wearing out super quickly. I often have the crotch of my pants wear out before anything else so having the reinforcement there is great. The fabric (G1000) is designed to be used with wax for a water resistant coating. The trousers are waxed from the factory and repel water very very well. The best way to describe it is that they just don't get wet. I really like this feature cuz it keeps my legs dryer when walking through deep snow, and when there is precipitation falling I tend to stay dryer and more comfortable. It is also super easy to replace this coating, and I have done it multiple times with my own homemade Greenland wax. Another bonus with the fabric is it will not melt from the sparks of a fire. At the bottom of each pant leg there is a lace hook and a cinch strap to close up the bottom of the pants. These are nice features since they can help to keep snow out, but you are still much better off with a pair of gaiters for that. Also the lace hook can be a total pain to unclip and so you really have to reef on it sometimes to get it unhooked, and this has cause one of the rivets on my left lace hook to rip out. It will only be a matter of time before the lace hook completely rips out. Despite the couple of nice features of these pants there is a lot of things I dislike. Only one pocket (the big side pocket on the right leg) is big enough to actually be useful. The rest are too small and I can barely get my hand into them to put stuff in there (could be that I have large thighs but more likely poor design). The knee reinforcements are open at the bottom for a knee pad to fit in but since you can't close them they often snag on brush. I don't like the lace hooks because they are too difficult to hook and unhook. Theses pants are too hot for anything active when its warmer than 15 degrees or so. lastly, despite the good reputation for G1000 fabric, It tears and punctures surprisingly easily and my pair have already sustained a significant amount of damage from normal use in less than a year. In conclusion, I don't like these trousers as much as I'd like. They are ok in the winter but not great, they are too warm for summer, they are way less durable than they look, and are heavy. In my experience there is a better pair of trousers for nearly every activity out there and thus I can only really recommend them for times when its not to hot or too cold, when the snow is not too deep, when your activity level is low, and you want to be able to sit around a fire and look cool.
This is my first pair of Vidda Pro Trousers.Fit: They are TRUE to size, so no wishful thinking if you are slightly larger than what the sizing says. They are also quite slim fit, I would say more like a regular jean.I was a bit surprised how light they are. In photos, they look like they would be heavy like a pair of double duck Carhartts, in fact they are much thinner and lighter.I have not had very much time to really use them for hiking. But I plan on waxing the knees to make them waterproof for winter birdwatching/photography in the forest.I really like the adjustable cuff options. I think this will come in handy to tighten up the cuff when there is a cold breeze.Overall, I am looking forward to seeing how durable they are. They definitely look great in the ... These things are great and built for whatever you can throw at them. I love there is no Back pockets and the material on the seat of the pants is just thick enough for abrasion resistance but not so that you can feel it. But sadly that size will not work for me because my thighs are to big I’m 5’9” 185-190 but lift weights consistently and so they are to narrow in the thigh and will not allow a full range ofMotion which makes them heavily restricting. Bummed really wanted these to work still doesn’t take away from the product just doesn’t work for me.
These are my go to hiking pants in late fall/early spring. My second pair of pro vidda's (purchased mainly for variety - my other pair are 4 years old and still like new). I find these pants to be a nice marriage between the 'skinny leg' style that seems to be more prevalent now days and a roomy fit - which I tend to prefer. That would be thanks in my opinion to the generous amount of room in the crotch area and also the knees. If there is anything I 'dislike' is that there isn't much stretch with these pants. Perhaps not a big deal for the disciplined individual who doesn't swing widely in size, but I've been known to bounce between a 34 and 36 waist depending on the season and ya, on chocolate availability in the house! These are European, so you'll need to figure ... MoreThese are my go to hiking pants in late fall/early spring. These are European, so you'll need to figure your size. For context, I'm 6'2" and generally wear size 36 waist/32 inseam (I can size down a waist size on some good days). In the pro vidda, I wear size 52 regular (they are plenty long) but man - if that cake is REALLY good it could be a squeeze for my 36 inch waist. They do eventually stretch a bit while wearing, but just what I've experience when I first put them on. Everything else about these pants I love.
I can’t say enough good things about these pants. I’m on my fourth pair and they last a long time. Hiking hunting tree felling just about anything outside when the weather is cool. They will never disappoint. I wear them out and about in the winter months for daily errands/chores. All the pockets are perfect and hold everything I need to carry. Reinforced spots come in handy for those unexpected mishaps. VERY comfortable and very durable material. I have an extra new pair laying in the drawer because I never want to be without. Worth every penny at full price, snap them up if on sale! ;-)
