Love these pants, I was so sad when I scuffed them a little bit being stupid trying to move some chicken wire and the sharp ends scuffed my leg. I will never not think of that. I have worn these hiking and love wearing them every time. They are durable, have so many pockets that range in sizes that you can fit whatever you would need to. The water repellency is top notch, I wore them in the snow and slide down snowy trails many times with many rocks on the trail and no scuffs and was pretty much still dry. Wore them in the rain, and again was perfectly fine. I love these pants. Would definitely and will most likely buy again.

To be honest, I have not yet worn these on the trail. However, Fjallraven clothing has always been exceptional (I have other pieces) and I anticipate that these pants will be great. The fit seems to be on the small side; I would suggest ordering a size large or getting into a store to try them on to assure proper fit (I went into the store and still first bought a pair that was small which I exchanged for the appropriate size). Lots of pockets, large and sturdy belt loops should provide plenty of places for whatever I need/want to carry. The fabric seems very rugged and feels good. After identifying the correct size I believe that the pants provide a lot of flexibility and will not constrain/restrict my movement at all.

These pants are on the heavier side meaning they would be great for all season, except for maybe hot summers. The zips on the side are great and large but note that there is no mesh. This will ultimately release more heat, but would let in bugs, etc. You might get away with wearing these in the summer as the bottom pant leg can ride up below knee and tighten there with the belt clip and unzip you pants. That would be great if you're doing a longer trek and have a few days where you have warmer days but the majority will be in cooler terrain. If you were just looking for pants for the summer, I would advise against these.Additionally, these pants are not very stretchy. For example, if you're climbing steep terrain and need the flexibility, there's better, stretchier pants for that, Keb, Abisko Lite. Also, these pants are a little on the heavier side if you're weight conscious. They seem very durable and fairly versatile, just not for some extreme cases.

Vidda Pro's are a well known model, and the Ventilated versions are one step above, but not for what you think. The ventilated zippers may prove useful (despite showing some leg and more), but it's the slimmer legs, slightly more generous waist, and more ease of movement with the stretch fabric gusset. Alas, the Pro Ventilated pants suffer from the same issue as the Pro -- the waist sizing is way too small and one needs to size up. I am a solid 32 waist in almost all pants, including Fjallraven's Abisko Light, but even a 34 in the Pro is too tight. Thankfully, the Pro Ventilated is slightly looser and a 34 is a near perfect fit. Recommended if you can find your size.
I’ve owned these pants for almost 2 years now. Best work/hiking pants. I used these for when I used to survey, I use them for hiking and doing yard work. They work well in the summer especially with the zipper vents. They also work great in the winter because of the material and wax. The wax will wear off over time which might be a good thing if you want them to be more breathable. But you can always reapply. They have countless useful pockets and loops that can be used for hiking or camping gear. I wore these for a camping trip that required kayaking; and when water would come into my kayak, it would bead up and roll of my pants because of the wax and kept me dry. I wore these for a camping trip that required kayaking; and when water would come into my kayak, it would bead up and roll of my pants because of the wax and kept me dry. They fit true to size, but take into consideration that European style clothing is usually slimmer fitting. I usually wear 31/32 waist and I purchased size 48 (European size) which is a 32 waist. When comparing these to the Keb Trouser, they are gonna be more tough and abrasion resistant because of the fabric. But they are designed to be very comfortable because they place flexible fabric in all the right places. I will probably be buying the Keb Trouser eventually just to have another option. Couldn’t recommend these pants enough.
The thread of the zipper came undone on this pair, had just about 1 year. The seamstress recommended the manufacturer put in size 15 zippers not the size 13 for more durability. Fabric is tough. I walk through a lot of thick brush and bramble in the hot summer and these pants keep me protected within reason and cool. The weave is so tight that the spikes seeds don’t stick to them. Also they dry quickly and are good in the rain. I have an older pair still in use and those ones only wore little holes in the sides by the pockets.
The sizing is atrocious if you are not an informed buyer, allow me to inform you. The Length is true to size but in terms of width, these pants must be oversized. THESE PANTS DO NOT STRETCH! Take whatever size you think you are in width and go up 4-6 sizes and cinch it down a stretch belt, otherwise you'll have limited mobility. Even if you are able to try these on in a dressing room and find the "right size," go ahead and go up a few inches because there will be no room for anything to go in your pockets, if you must use the pockets. I'm a 34W and find myself most comfortable in a 38-40W.The pockets suck! I don't need my phone or wallet touching my knee cap but the pockets are that deep. They are great for protecting your legs from getting poked, scraped or cut. These are built great, look great, and are some of the toughest pants I've owned.
Wanted to clarify the sizing issue people are having. These come in a new fit. The old fit, like almost all clothing in the US, was vanity sized in the waist. So size 32 was actually 34", 34 was actually 36", etc.As stated on the product listing, the sizes have been adjusted and they recommend to size up from what you wore in the old fit. That's true - so now a 34 is 34", 36 is 36", etc.So no more vanity sizing. If you're in the range they recommend sizing up in, size up. It may also help to lay out your best fitting pair of pants. If the waist measures 17" across, double that to 34" for the actual waist, and go for a size 34.Hope this helps!
Great pants, this is my third pair of this model, I've lost count of my other Fjallraven pants. I love the cut, the fabric, the ventilation, pockets and extra features like gaiter hooks at the bottom -but these I'm returning.I have had this exact pair in the same size (48eu/ 32us - regular length) for a while, but I could do a with longer inseam. So now I ordered another pair in 48 long and sure enough the inseam is 34" long, but the waist is a lot tighter. Measurably 2 inches tighter than my other 2 Fjallraven pairs labeled 48 EU. I think someone must have put the wrong sizing label on in the factory. Now I don't know if I should return and order a size up or try my luck again with the same order, hoping to get the correct size.
There are many things to admire about the pants (the looks, the rugged material, tool loops you can pretend to need), and I want to like them, but there are too many failings. First of all, the "articulated knee" is placed too low in the pant leg. As a result I would have to wear these higher than the crotch allows to actually have freedom to make a high step and not have to work against the pants to do so. This is not a sizing issue as the inseam and the waist fit me perfectly otherwise. This leads to the other issue, which is the ankle adjustment system. You would think these would pair well with hiking boots, but the adjustment system when cinched in to the top of a hiking boot easily pops off -- again, the inseam is a perfect length for me. You would think these would pair well with hiking boots, but the adjustment system when cinched in to the top of a hiking boot easily pops off -- again, the inseam is a perfect length for me. That means these pants are no match for ankle-deep snow, which makes gaiters a necessity... which to my thinking undermines the point of heavy duty, water repellent pants with an ankle cinch if you have to wear gaiters anyway. Worse, the buckle has a tendency of wedging itself between the ankle and the boot tongue. So not only does it not perform a functional role well, it frequently gets in the way.In general I have to assume that the design team has never walked up hill before, a) because of the restricted movement in the knees makes it very tedious, and b) whoever designed these clearly has no glutes and apparently neither have they met someone with muscles back there. You can do a deep squat in them (technically speaking it is possible), but it is pretty uncomfortable on the quads if you're someone who has the requisite amount of leg muscle to stand up again. My recommendation: while probably less durable, the p*tagonia quandary pants are in every way a superior product (half the features, double the functionality) for half the cost -- get those instead unless you really need pants for LARPing as a swedish outdoorsman who has never seen a hill before.
