I did so in order to wrap the area of the drain pipe that had split. I carefully read the instructions for unrolling the tape, cutting it with a razor blade, and applying it wrinkle-free to the pipe. Did not work in my application

Some online research suggests it could be used to repair an inflatable device that has a slightly "flocked" surface. The specific item was a "Contour" brand, inflatable vinyl wedge pillow with a very lightly flocked surface.In my case, I attempted to shave down the very slight flocking with a razor before applying the tape, but that did not work well.Next, I thoroughly cleaned teh area with detergent, thoroughly rinsed, later thoroughly rinsed with rubbing alcohol.Then applied the tape and put a heavy weight on top of the repair for about one day. Despite all of that, the tape did not stick to the surface.

Disappointed

My surface wasn’t flat but then again it didn’t specify it had to be. I had an elbow on my drip irrigation system leaking. I cleaned the area and added Flex tape on each end. After giving it some adherence time I tested it and it immediately began leaking. I added more tape giving it time to adhere before testing. Again it found every spot it could for water to escape. I thought, well, I’ll give it some warm days to “get stronger” as the directions state. It’s been several days without the system being used at all. I noticed today that the tape is actually peeling away from itself. I know if you buy it direct from the manufacturer they will refund but I’m hoping that since I bought from Lowe’s I can return the unused portion for a refund.

Good for exposed patches

Durable and super sticky.The adhesive is super aggressive and bonds to most things. The tape seems to be pressure sensitive, I repositioned it a few times before locking it into place. The tape is thick and can adhere to an unsmooth surface.I was surprised by this product because I assumed that “flexible” meant stretchy, that is not the case. The backing material is flexible meaning it can bend to conform to a surface but it will not stretch if pulled with moderate force. That makes this tape unique and it is more durable than other products on the market (ex. window flashing which are not UV resistant.) Stretchy materials support a different function than this tape was intended for. The tape material was firm and resisted poking/prodding without leaking. I also did a repair to the portable basketball hoop’s counterweight base that we punctured during assembly. With the clear backing, I was able to visually confirm that the patch conformed to the irregular shape and pressed out all of the visible air bubbles for complete adhesion. I added a second larger patch as a wearing surface for additional protection. The hoop is regularly moved and the repair is watertight, as expected. I’m looking forward to seeing how the repair holds up over the winter.

No cold wet Surfaces

This tape, applied to aluminum trailer roofs in warm weather, is great. I had a couple holes in my enclosed trailer roof I used this tape to patch for a bit. I applied it the first time in like 70 degree weather. Great adhesion and leak prevention. Its near permanent. HOWEVER... The second time i tried to use it, it was raining and probably 38 degrees. Supposed to work under water right?? WRONG. It didnt stick AT ALL. New roll of tape too. Didnt even try to stick to it. I even tried to wipe it clean first. NOTHING. Complete lie that it works on wet surfaces. Not a chance. I had to heat the metal and adheasive with a torch to get it to stick. Not a good choice for a quick leak fix in a hurry.

Seems okay if not under pressure

Flex tape seems to hold up well when not under too much pressure. I tried fixing a hole in my hose, followed the instructions, and let it cure overnight. It still leaked after a few minutes of the hose being turned on. I didn't give up though, and decided to try it on a PVC pipe under my kitchen sink. My house is older and the plumbing has become sort of a mixed bag. There seems to be on area under the kitchen sink where the pipes just don't want to join together as they should. I finally gave up and just put a bucket under there that I empty periodically to catch the small amount of water that leaks through. For that application, flex tape worked like a champ and stopped me from having to worry about this continual leak under my sink. So, I think there are definitely applications that flex tape works well, as long as there isn't a huge amount of pressure.I also had a loose piece on my car bumper and wheel well that I had secured with a screw, but was still worried it would come loose. I was able to use the black flex tape to help secure the wheel well cover to the inner bumper without it being noticeable. I like the security of knowing it's there, keeping the wheel well cover in place and preventing anything from entering that area.Overall, I would recommend flex tape, as long as you have reasonable expectations. It is very, very sticky, so I wouldn't peel the backing off completely. I would peel it off a little at a time as you stick it to whatever surface you are sticking it to to prevent it from sticking to itself and essentially wasting it. It is a decent product that works well for the correct applications.

Unbelievable

Honestly, I can't believe this worked. We had water leaking from where the filter attaches to the side of the pool but we could not figure out how it was leaking or where it was leaking from necessarily. It was the oddest thing. I remembered I had this in a cabinet and I cut off two small strips of the tape. Since we were unable to find wher the inside of the pool was leaking, I just pushed the tape onto the side of the pool where the filter meets it and tried to secure the tape to the wet rubber as best I could. I mean, I had ZERO faith it would stick or adhere at all, but lo and behold, it did. And the water stopped leaking. I did the same awkward smush of tape in the little crease and BINGO! Leak stopped! Very useful for homeowners!

A piece of tape to be able to stop water leaks, just seemed too easy.Upon receiving it I tested it with 3 different tasks. First task: solve a leak at an inside water disconnect valve. I cut off a piece of tape, carefully wrapped it around where the leak was and made sure that the joint was dry before applying(more so out of habit, not thinking about the fact that the product would adhere fine with moisture). I then attempted to recreate the leak by completely closing and opening the disconnect valve, and even after a few minutes the product was keeping it dry.Next up was an extension water nozzle for watering tops of trees. I had previously used a liquid glue product to secure an adapter for the sprayer type I needed and after a few minutes use it had instantly sprung a leak. Repeating the same steps as above I applied the product, but this time it wasn't as successful. It certainly slowed down the leak but it didn't completely contain it, even after attempting multiple wraps around the area. To be fair, the water going through this area is under a decent amount of pressure, so I just don't think the product was able to stand up to that amount of pressure it was producing.The final test, was to mimic the ads I saw on TV. I had a 5 gallon buck I use for project around the house with a small hole in it. I filled it up to the brim, and left a hose running in it so it would constantly be refilling any water that leaked out of the hole. I then applied a piece of tape inside of the bucket in the water, and gave it a good rubbing to make sure it was locked into place. Sure enough, it stopped the water leaking. I left the bucket over night filled with water and even the next day it was still holding the water just fine. I had even set the bucket on some tissue paper to make it more obvious if a leak had occurred and I couldn't find any hints of water.Overall, a very nice product, as long as you aren't using it in an application this is more than moderate pressure. Definitely a great thing to keep around the house for any homeowner.Camera with photos of the uses accidentally formatted over the photos, so sadly I have no good photos to share of the places I used it.

You can think out of the box with this stuff

This stuff is amazing, expensive, but amazing. I needed to replace a broken oven control overlay, thats the plastic key pad film. But the replacement overlay is nolonger made so I bought a simular one and spliced it to fit with a seam down the middle. I then covered it with this clear flex tape. The 4 inch was perfect to do it in one piece, you can't see the seem in the middle of the overlay. The rubber makes it water proof and flexible so the keypad can easily be pressed and its clear enough that no one would ever guess its not factory and I'm quite this will protect the new overlay from ever wearing out. Expensive, but way cheaper than a new range.Be careful when using it, I don't think I've ever encountered something so sticky and if you let the sticky sides ... MoreThis stuff is amazing, expensive, but amazing.
