Fluke 117/323 Electricians Multimeter Combo Kit

FLUKE- This is a very nice combo kit for quick survey of what's wrong. The magnet hanger is way more handy than I expected. The previous meter (other brand) I was using did not pass a 3 foot (unexpected) drop test. I'll have to get back to you on how the FLUKE holds up if that ever happens to it. I like everything about this meter, leads, case... Only thing missing on the 323 which I didn't notice was ability to capture max inrush current. Also the instructions for it are lacking detail. I would prefer words to just pictures of how to use it.

Great set of meters for hvac service work. Comes with a nice carrying case. The case has a pocket to hold little stuff. Meters are accurate and seem relatively durable. Ive put mine through some rough enviroments

Fluke 117/323 Combo

Retired now, have used Fluke meters and equipment provided by my employers and finally own mine! They have always been reliable and accurate as well as easy to use. I've been in the Electronics and Electrical fields since 1976 and have used Fluke meters in various situations. This combo does all I need and I'm very happy with it. Definitely worth the price!

Great combo for most troubleshooting jobs!

I received this combo as a gift from my wife few years back. My old meter was in need of a replacement. I like the 117 because it has the frequency measurement. It got me out of some situations without the need to haul additional testing equipment over to a machine on the field. The 323 is you typical go to meter: good around the house and at your job. This one lives in my portable tool box permanently. Great combo overall; already recommended it to some colleagues.

It is absolutely my favorite general purpose multi-meter. It is not an 87V or one of the higher end models, but it is a solid meter that gives reliable readings quickly. It in fact performs significantly better than its rated accuracy and precision as tested with my bench top HP meter. I can’t think of a bad thing to say about it, other than the capacitance feature only goes to 1000uF and with the back light on, the screen is difficult to read from more than ~30 degrees above (not below for some reason). The 117 has a low impedance voltage function which is fantastically useful. The autoranging and continuity buzzer are very quick.The included leads are excellent quality. The adjustable shrouding with detents at the various CAT ratings is a cool feature.The bad: the 323 is basically a toy. The case feels cheap and is slippery. The rotary selector switch is OK, but the detent is not as firm as I would like. It doesn’t have any particularly useful features other than it being a clamp ammeter. It does not have a min/max feature- which is a major deficit. Measuring inrush current at start up is one of the most common uses of a clamp meter. It does not have a back light and no provision for adding a hanging strap. The 323 stays in the truck. My Klein clamp meter sees far more use than the 323.That being said- you are getting the 323 for a significant discount with this kit. If you don’t have another clamp meter or want a spare, it could be worthwhile to buy this kit.The included magnetic hanger for the 117 is of good quality. Very strong magnet and a good length.The included case is cheap, but that’s more or less expected. It is at least somewhat padded and of adequate size for a couple pairs of leads, both meters, and the manual.

I feel safer knowing I have a fluke in my box. I will not use anything other than a fluke again. Knew better than to use another meter. After 8 years of daily electrical work I finally got hit. a backfed 277v line shorting to ground on an industrial light circuit taught me a valuable lesson. When you don't have a fluke handy, don't use another meter to save time. The potential difference that occured when separating the four wires in the junction box was enough to teach me a lesson that day. Never got any voltage in the circuit, not even to ground but it was still live and I could have spotted it with this meter by checking it with the built in voltage detection.

I've always liked fluke. I got these as a gift to myself for graduating technical school to be an electrician. I use these meters non-stop at work. Whether it's for troubleshooting ground faults, dead shorts just checking to see if I have the right resistance on a fire alarm circuit. These have been absolutely wonderful meters. You can't go wrong with these.

Reason for purchase was to use for troubleshooting home/shop equipment in particular my CNC for Control System Testing. At first I bought a cheap ~$35 meter, which was a mistake from the beginning. They do not have near the functionality or accuracy of these fluke meters, let alone reliability. Sending that non functioning meter after 2 days and picking this baby up was a great decision even though my pocket says otherwise. But in the end, you get what you pay for!

This kit has all I need for electrical and electronic work. The magnetic hanger strap is great when working in panels. It is very secure and allows for hands free use. I use the ohm setting on the 323 meter to test out certain door security contacts where I need more than a simple open/closed reading and ohms are important. The amp clamp has dual function allowing volt readings and amp readings. The ohm setting is limited in it's functions but that's when I use the 323 meter.
