The device does exactly what it promises. Issue is the application. Was only able to get it to work with FocusRite applications. I used "Tape" for sound recording and "Impact" for video recording. Had issues with pretty much any other IOS app I tried. Also, the Impact recording seems to require a headset to listen to; was not able to get the ipad speakers to work with the app to review any video recorded.If Focusrite improved their two apps, this would be an awesome product..In terms of quality of sound recording, it was pretty good. I am using it to record sound from my Roland digital piano and other than the app issues it has worked well.

I am using the iTrack Solo Lightning to get high quality audio into my iPhone 8+ while I video myself playing my Roland electronic drums.I take the mono analog output of the Roland drums, which is a mix of prerecorded music with my drumming or just the drums alone. This way I can see how I play to improve my drumming.I am using the Moviepro app which gives me lots of setting options for video and audio.This is my first Focusrite product purchase, it's well designed and engineered, very solid construction. I highly recommend this product!

I'm very new to this type of devices so some of you may already know most of this. For those new to this I may help you a little, although it is kind of specific to the H&K TM18 head. The reason for my purchase was solely to be able to listen to my H&K TM18 at night with headphones. For that it does work. The H&K has the red box built in and an XLR output. I just plug the XLR to the device (guitar input), put the power soak on ""no speaker"" and I'm up and running with my headphones being the only output, well sort of. YOU MUST have the ipad (or computer) connected to the device for it to work in any way, despite the fact the device has its own power supply. The sound is not right, its low and bad, I'm sure most folks already know this, I didn't. I needed to get the XLR to 1/4 and plug into the guitar input for it to sound decent. That being said it is a lot of fun. You can use garage band, your music collection or I guess about anything and play along. There is a tape app for the ipad that allows you to record yourself. I cannot find any other apps for the ipad although I guess there are apps you can use on the computer in addition to the tape app. I have not used any other features but may start to look into that later.
Had issues with connecting the device to the ipad. The mic input works fine on garageband and other apps. For guitar however, in amplitube specifically, it will not put out a signal. After much research I found that the itrack uses its right channel for guitar and amplitube uses the left ios channel, therefore rendering it tricky to use exclusively for AT (stick to iRig, it's way easier) I've had to order a 3/4" jack to 3-pin male xlr from amazon to see if I can patch the guitar line into the left mic xlr of the itrack, although i'm not sure if it will work. If you use only garageband and are most interested in the mic input you will be fine.
I properly placed a Shure SM57 mic in front of my guitar amp amd plugged it into the mic channel of the itrack solo. But in Garageband, it sounded muffled like it was in another room. Turning up the volume just made it loud...and muffled. Yes, you can record guitar directly on the right channel of the device but you can only use the annoying and bad-sounding virtual amps in Garageband. My real guitar amp sounds waaay better.I was doing better using a USB condenser mic and recording my amp into Garageband that way. Unless there's some secret trick here, the Focusrite itrack solo and the Shure mic and cable were a waste of money.
This audio interface surpassed my expectations and its so small and compact you can take it with you anywhere. It took my vocals to the next level and the price is amazing. I have been to B&H in New York when I lived there and they are a top notch business and the store is amazing. They know their stuff and their staff is so knowledgable. They sell nothing but the best and their service is top notch. As for the interface it will make your vocals sound even better and smoother than ever. I even have my Harmon Karman Soundsticks III I got from them and they are amazing when you plug them into this device at the same time so you can check back your recordings after laying down a vocal track or a guitar track or whatever you can use to connect to this on top of an IPAD ... MoreThis audio interface surpassed my expectations and its so small and compact you can take it with you anywhere. I picked this up to make my first recording into GarageBand. You'll need a usb cable for power only. My iPhone8 easily connected and was able to start recording into GarargeBand right away. My 7thGeniPad was finicky and eventually did connect hours later. Pretty simple to use and I am very happy with it. It was recommended by the staff over the iRig. I don't have a reference for sound quality comparison for the digital conversion but it seems pretty good for the price.
