I bought this to work on getting better audio for voice over recordings. After going through the setup videos, my initial tests show cleaner, clearer audio. The small size and form factor means it doesn't take up a lot of space on my desk. So far I am happy with it.

I bought this to improve my live stream rig. I had an older USB audio interface, and it was time to upgrade. The Scarlet Solo from Focusrite 3rd generation had just come out, and I am so pleased that I bought it. My latency and buffering really improved, and the audio quality is excellent. At first these were out of stock (perhaps due to demand or Covid19 supply chain issues), but now they are back in stock. This is a great sounding, easy to use and affordable USB audio interface. It has improved my sound for live streaming, zoom calls, and online band rehearsals via JamKazam. Two thumbs up for Focusrite! Three other bandmates bought the Scarlett Solo after hearing mine. Excellent product line.

I have just gotten into recording music and didn't want to invest too much into the equipment. I have been familiar with the Focusrite brand for a long time, and knew that a lot of my musician friends use their interfaces for their own professional recordings. I checked a lot of reviews and validated those assumptions. I bought this and have loved using it. Just having it plugged in constantly is a huge source of inspiration. I can fire up my DAW and start playing immediately knowing that I am getting a very clean and crisp instrument signal with negligible latency.I only use this with a guitar and a violin so I don't have firsthand experience with using a mic. I could not be more pleased with the performance of this interface. My only gripes with it are the lack of a direct / USB blend knob and a usable signal meter. For the former, there is a button that switches from the direct signal to the USB one, but having the ability to blend the two would help if you need to play along to a backing track. For the latter, I get that the glowing ring is cool looking, but it's not actionably useful if you're trying to monitor your gain levels. By the time you see the red ring, you're already clipping making it difficult to adjust in real-time.Otherwise this is a GREAT interface and incredible value for money. I can't recommend this enough for beginners in home recording or even for pros who don't need more than two inputs.

Great value for a basic XLR mic setup. I have this, a Synco Mic-D2, and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones. They all work nicely together. My only complaint is there is a slight hiss in the direct monitoring that gets louder the higher the gain is set too, but, this hiss does NOT show up in my recordings.
Does the job and looks sweet as well in that Scarlett! Using this for an SM7B and it does fine without a preamp, but the Mic will be quiet unless you can deal with a little noise. Used a Dynamite stick as well and 12 O'clock to 2 O'clock on the dial is perfect for me!Well built and the software is easy to use if you wish to use it, not necessary though.
I love the device but I would give it 5 stars if it worked more seamlessly with PC programs. I know it already does so pretty well in a HUGE number of ways that probably is deserving of 5*s, but it just doesn't quite step up to be the device it could have been during lockdown; but only over Skype for me, although I assume it is a point of contention for streaming too. The problem arises when I Skype call my bass teacher for my grade 7 lessons. Because Skype only really accepts a single microphone input I'm stuffed if I want Skype to take a microphone, instrument and backing track all at once. I guess a mixer would fix the problem, but really software should make this way easier. Why can't I just convert all audio inputs into one source and mix that with realtek ... MoreI love the device but I would give it 5 stars if it worked more seamlessly with PC programs. Fantastic product at a great price. Impressed by ease of use and setup.I just do simple YouTube videos and it is perfect for what I do. I highly recommend the product and would buy other products from Focusrite. And as always B&H is solid with product selection and service.
Focusrite are highly regarded in the circles I move in, and with good reason. Sturdy construction and internals to match. My only regret is I did not shell out the extra for a more up to date version of this particular product, but as this unit was a stopgap between the failure of an old Tascam US-1800 and my next multichannel audio interface, I am content that the 2i2 Ist Gen will satisfy my immediate needs for connecting my computer hardware to in-situ hi-fi systems. Mac users will be delighted to know that no drivers are required. My setups are all PC based an range from Windows 7 through 10 and thankfully Focusrite maintains up to date driver downloads for it on their website. I'm presently using the device on a WYSE thin client running Ein 7 (x64) Enterprise edition, audio software is Cockos Reaper, but have had occasion to use it on an ASUS TUF 6 core with Adobe Audition CC and Izotope RX without incident and with no apparent difference in performance. I particularly like the portabilit aspect of the 2i2 in that I can throw it in the laptop bag with minimal cables and no need for external power and just go - useful for field fecordings. Other that that, not much to say. For the price paid, I think I'm happy with it and expect it will still be performing long after I need it to be. Others I have known to own similar models have likewise had nothing but good things to say about it. If there was anything missing in terms of connectivity, I might have asked there be some form of digital out that might be used for clock synching but other than that particular fly in the ointment, I've no complaint whatsoever.
I had high expectations, and this little unit exceeds them. At the input ends, this manages my desktop microphone and my computer audio. At the output end, it runs through my dock. Everything is plug-and-play and has dramatically simplified my desktop audio rig all while hiding behind a picture frame on my desk. If you're going for that wire-free, minimalist look or just looking for something to run a dedicated mic cleanly, this is the tool for the job.
I bought this because I need guitar and mic inputs. I have been using it daily since I received it three days ago and I have not encountered any problems so far.Aesthetics: The metal shell is attractive and it is not very reflective so it does not create any glare from my computer monitor even in the dark. The buttons and knobs all look nice.Hardware Quality: I have to say that I could probably drop this on my kitchen floor and the unit would be fine. The only breakable parts are the input gain knobs because they protrude about 1/3 inch from the face. Speaking of knobs, the monitor volume knob is very smooth and satisfying. The input gain knobs are stiffer to turn, but this is not a problem as it makes them much more precise.Sound Quality: I haven't experienced anything other than clear sound from all of the inputs and outputs.Portability: This is a big thing for me because I don't like to have a bunch of cords to unplug every time I want to move my equipment. The single USB-C makes it possible to simply unplug the entire device from my laptop and take my laptop with no hassle or I can just unplug it from my laptop and plug it into a different device.Overall this is a very good product, especially for the price. I haven't found any compromises or issues yet.
