I bought two of these containers about 8 weeks ago. Initially I was skeptical that they would meet my needs. They stand at the perfect height for me, making watering, weeding etc, very easy. They are deep enough to grow leeks and carrots. I planted lettuce seedlings and have had a fabulous crop already. They are light enough to be moved (by two people). They make a great present for someone with limited garden space or problems bending over.I plan to buy more of these Fountain Raised Garden Beds.

Such good value for money! However as with anything cheaper it did require a few modifications - husband had to drill some drainage holes in the base and as the legs are hollow, we had to buy some scoria to fill those up. Funnily enough adding the scoria added extra weight and made the garden bed more stable. Perfect height for my continuous picking lettuces and Asian greens without me having to traipse all the way out to the vege garden, kneel down etc. highly recommend.

Cheap and easy small scale wicking bed

At first, like other reviewers, I was perplexed that a raised garden bed was designed without holes in the bottom. After a little research, thanks to the savvy reviewers, I learned about wicking beds. I filled the legs with drainage gravel, a 1m pool hose with holes in it for my water intake, 5mm gravel for the reservoir, doubled-up heavy duty shade cloth over gravel, then good quality soil and compost. I'm looking forward to what I am able to grow; so far it has required minimal water to keep the soil moist compared to my other raised garden beds.

Great product bought more
25 September 2022

Saw a promotion of the garden beds while shopping with hubby in Bunnings. Loved the colours and the higth of the garden bed so we bought one coloured one for our patio to plant all my herbs in. We where so pleased with the product and how it looked on the patio so we decided to buy 3 more for Strawberries and veggies . To my surprise it was difficult to find the coloured garden beds most Bunnings near me had non or plenty in black. I was lucky in the end to find the 3 I wanted in the end. Please bring more out in colours I think there look much better in small gardens or patios than the black ons.

Bought 4 of these a year ago, and they worked great. I drilled large drainage holes in 3 of them and lined the bottom with geotex fabric. The other, I left it as is. Stuffed geotex into the bottom of the legs in all 4. Filled legs and garden beds with potting mix, about 2 x 25L bags each bed. I found no difference in the plants between the beds with drainage holes and the one without. Only difference was that water flowed straight out the bottom of the beds with drainage holes. Maybe the potting mix would of dried out a little faster on the beds with drainage holes? They are just the right height and allow great access to all the plants. Was able to plant 8 medium chilli plants in each (a little crowded). Price is good compared to buying plastic pots and stands to ... MoreBought 4 of these a year ago, and they worked great. Great value for money
4 March 2023

I bought one a month ago to put herbs in, as a trial, as Ive run out of vege garden space . Very pleased with it. Going into Bunnings tomorrow to buy another one to sow carrot seeds into. Will no doubt buy more in the future as well. I cut the tops off 1.5 litre plastic lemonade bottles to put into the top of each hollow leg to stop compost going into them. The bottles sit flush with the top of the legs to allow for drainage. Works well and such a good price too.

Homegrown Veges
24 September 2022

Just bought four of these as great price compared to similar currently available elsewhere and online. Keen to see how long they will last though compared to the dearer (better quality?) ones. Wanted to extend my vege growing as current vege garden is full and supermarket prices keep going up. A well thought out raised planter as a good height for tall people like me and easy reach for those with a bad back or mobility issues. Drainage holes at bottom of each leg - I filled legs with scoria for best drainage as potting mix will eventually compact too much and reduce drainage flow. Also has a lip on inside at top of legs to act as a small water reservoir, so a good inch or so of water remains in the bottom to keep moisture in mix for longer, so won't dry out as ... MoreJust bought four of these as great price compared to similar currently available elsewhere and online. Planted them up with garlic, beetroot, yams and salad greens. So far, so good. Can't wait till they start producing.

Perfect aside from hollow legs and lack of drainage - easy fix though!
12 October 2021

These beds are great, legs are hollow so I filled mine with gravel which adds strength to the legs as well. Stakes for tomatoes etc can be stuck down the legs which is nice. Drilled some holes in the bottom for better drainage since it's intended that the legs are the drainage as there's a hole at the bottom of each one, however there's a lip before the leg begins so anything below that lip won't get drainage. Could cover the top of legs with some fabric, or fill with mulch etc. Would be a perfect product if drainage holes already made and legs not hollow/at least covered at top. If you don't own a drill, can poke holes with soldering iron or screwdriver etc heated over flame. Looking forward to growing basic veg in them!

Ridiculous design!
18 November 2022

I bought two well before I needed them, so they were empty for some time, and collected rain. In that time I saw the large volume of water that sits in the bottom of the planter and cannot escape down the legs to the drainage holes. The planter actually needs to be tipped to let the water sitting in the legs drain out the holes. I would not recommend anyone use this product without drilling drainage holes in the body of the planter. I'd also recommend the legs be filled with something (there are good tips in other reviews). Why waste good soil and add to the weight?

This could be the cheapest reservoir planter you will find...

My husband bought five of these to keep a garden in our carport. Having had experience making reservoir raised garden before (in the shell of wooden raised beds), I could see how a little bit of time and materials could make these a decent reservoir garden for a fraction of the price. The legs were filled with stones with some dirt on top. Next came two layers of wide mesh, curved down at the sides (so as to come in contact with the soil at the edges), with some irrigation pipes below to keep space once the soil went in and pushed down. Next some water-porous weed matting, and then the potting mix. The weed mat stops the dirt from filling in the reservoir. The reservoir retains water which means the plants can go several days, perhaps more than a week in the sun ... MoreMy husband bought five of these to keep a garden in our carport. Next some water-porous weed matting, and then the potting mix. The weed mat stops the dirt from filling in the reservoir. The reservoir retains water which means the plants can go several days, perhaps more than a week in the sun between waterings, with water wicking up through the weed mat into the soil and up to the surface. This works best with shallowly rooted plants, e.g. not carrots. I'm excited to see how they go. The simplest way to use the reservoir would be just to fill it all with dirt and let water drain over the ridges by the legs when it reaches them (don't drill any drainage holes). But, this will greatly reduce the size of the reservoir since it is essentially filled with soil rather than air/water. A quicker but more expensive way would simply be to fill the bottom with punched drainage pipe with dirt on top (no need for weed mat).
