Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon is a premium Kentucky bourbon crafted from a hand-selected high-rye recipe, delivering a rich, complex flavour with a full-bodied character and an exceptionally smooth finish. Aged for 7–9 years in a single barrel, each bottle offers its own distinctive profile with notes of ripe plum and cherries, balanced by a robust body and a delicately long, mellow finish. Whether enjoyed neat, over ice or as the foundation of a classic cocktail, this expertly matured bourbon provides depth, refinement and remarkable consistency. Four Roses is also one of the few bourbon distilleries to use two mash bills and ten unique recipes, creating the signature smoothness that has made the brand renowned worldwide. The distillery is also committed to quality by using non-GMO corn in its production. The story of Four Roses dates back to 1888, when founder Paul Jones Jr. named his bourbon after the woman he loved. Legend has it that after proposing to a Southern belle, she promised that if her answer was yes, she would wear a corsage of roses to an upcoming ball. When she arrived wearing four red roses, Jones took it as her acceptance and later named his bourbon in honour of that moment. Today, the dedicated team at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and the warehouse facility in Cox's Creek continue that legacy with the same passion for craftsmanship and quality. Their commitment has earned Four Roses numerous international awards, including being named Distillery of the Year four times and receiving recognition at the 2018 World Spirits Competition, cementing its reputation as one of the world's finest bourbon producers.

I had to try after reading the hoopla. I wasn't in the least way let down. I preferred to sip it neat, and I was quite delighted with this bourbon. Both the nose and the palate are sweet. With its upfront sweet oaky maple syrup flavors and the smooth, 100 percent vanilla custard finish, it is meltingly delectable. I haven't tried the other Four Roses products, but this bourbon is excellent for sipping, and after trying it, I won't feel complete without having a bottle of it on hand to enjoy to the fullest. If you appreciate bourbon as much as I do, I strongly advise you to try this one if you haven't already. For excellent bourbon, this is a terrific price!

Wow. Just WOW. At first, I didn't know what to think. Somewhat new to the bourbon world, I love spicy intakes and oak finishes. And this at first, just seemed like, ew, bitter and then herbal aftertaste. But my body wasn't rejecting it, I kept on wanting to know what I was tasting. About half a bottle down. I think I have a pretty good idea now. And now, oh my, and now this is definitely the most complex and wonderful bourbon I've gotten so far. This has been a wonderful learning experience because it's opened up my palate to really disguising the vast amount of flavors that come from bourbon. And this is what this bourbon made me realize, a lot of the other bourbons I've had were just, simple, or maybe I'm just becoming more experienced with my taste buds, but ... MoreWow. Just WOW. And finally to the review. With this, it wasn't just taste in, taste done. The nose hit me with this kind of sweet apple/peach smell, which was complimented by the intake, but then turned to dark bitter fruits, possibly plum, and then for a second cherry. And then the bitter notes start to come, and this one took me a while to get. First it hits you with the tobacco, then I get a strong herbal/green tea kind of taste with a long leathery finish. The great thing is when you think it's all over the cherry comes back and hits you in the mouth. I mean, this bourbon really has a long of great complexities, and even if it doesn't agree with your palate (and you're crazy if you don't like it), then you can at least say, wow that was some great quality bourbon and I just need to find out what that taste was, because I can't quite put my finger on it.On another note, there are 10 different recipes, so every barrel number could be different. Can't wait to buy another!

One of the top three or four small batch bourbons I've tried is this 4 Roses Single barrel. When you first open the bottle, the flavor is in the aroma, and as you drink it, it lingers on your palate. Despite having such a rich flavor, it is robust and full-bodied. As the cube melts, the flavors definitely seem to get more pronounced. For this one, I've given up my Angel's Envy and several other small batch bourbons. I simply adore it!

After reading strong reviews about this bourbon and how it beats out more expensive bourbons I had to give this a try. It’s not cheap, but it’s not too expensive either. It’s 100 proof, but don’t let that discourage you if you dislike high proof bourbons. The smoothness of this is unmatched. It’s so easy to drink, but you have to have some self control and sip it slowly. I’m no bourbon expert but this thing is extremely good. The note that I pick up the most is the vanilla. Others may not mention it, but that batch that I got definitely has it. It’s not overbearing nor does it feel synthetic. The clean vanilla note should hit your palate as you enjoy each sip with zero harshness in its opening or after taste. It would make an excellent mixer and it would be ... MoreAfter reading strong reviews about this bourbon and how it beats out more expensive bourbons I had to give this a try. It would make an excellent mixer and it would be fantastic with Coke, but mixing something this good would be a disservice to it. Whether you’re a beginner, casual bourbon drinker, or a bourbon fanatic; this is a must for anyone’s liquor cabinet.
I bought a bottle of single barrel after I finished off a bottle of four roses standard. There are qualities of the single barrel I like better than the standard line. It's got a sweeter, floral smell, a wonderful, fruity taste, and it's stronger. However, unlike the standard line there's a burn in the finish that simply isn't present in thr cheaper four roses. I can't say this is better or worse than the cheaper ordinary four roses; but I do prefer the easier finish of it's cheaper brother. Some people will prefer the stronger, clearer flavor of this variety. You really can't go wrong either way though; these are both fine sipping bourbons.
First, let me preface the review by saying my ratings is based on comparing to other bourbons regardless of price. Some people will give something 3 starts if they don't like it and thats not where I am at. Three star to me means that its a solid, middle of the road bourbon that I enjoy, but don't think it stands out. I'll save the flavor notes because everyone has a different palate and get different things out of it (especially if adding ice/water). This a solid, respectable and consistent bourbon. Its got a little bit of everything, but to me, just missing that thing that smacks you in your face and gets your attention. Where I live, this costs about $42 a bottle and wouldn't buy at that price, but in the $30 price range, definitely worth having in the cabinet ... MoreFirst, let me preface the review by saying my ratings is based on comparing to other bourbons regardless of price. Where I live, this costs about $42 a bottle and wouldn't buy at that price, but in the $30 price range, definitely worth having in the cabinet when you are in the mood for something on the moral floral/fruity side (makes a pretty good Old Fashioned in my opinion).I'm not going to compare its flavor directly to any other bourbons, but its definitely better than your standard offerings from like Jim Beam or Jack Daniels or even its own small batch offering. But I think it falls short of others like Woodford (standard reserve or double oaked), 1792 single barrel, Knob Creek single, Eagle Rare 10 year, etc. Basically its something I enjoy from time to time, but not something I ever go to the cabinet looking for.
Simply put, "refined." Excellent bourbon. Smooth and incredibly sweet on the nose. The finish is warm and protracted. Very well balanced and not excessively sweet. Excellent value for Bevmo members. I heartily advise it to everyone. This bourbon is exquisitely opened up with a tablespoon of water.
These reviews could cover 12 or more distinct bourbons. Rightfully so. Guess what, everyone? Single-barrel designates that the bourbon in the bottle was sourced only from one specific barrel. Additionally, not all barrels are made the same. There isn't any additional master blending. A standard whiskey barrel holds 200 liters or 53 gallons. Or roughly 22.3 cases (267 750ml bottles). I adore these bourbons! Although I agree with every review here, some more so than others. You'll be shocked at how big of an impact each barrel has on the aroma, which is usually what people notice first. When you love a batch, look at the tag with the bottling date and barrel number, and get more of that one. The barrel will influence all the aging factors to some extent, which is why A) barrels are used in the first place, and B) aging is so important (if you're reading this, you know more age is almost always better). Your expectations may or may not be met by a different one. But regardless of what people anticipate, I don't think there will be any remorse.
As the story goes. I bought this for my father for Christmas, just grabbed it not knowing what it was. Seemed like a middle of the road bourbon. When I tried it as a non bourbon drinker I was hooked. What a fantastic value, 100 proof at about 8 years old. The front is beautiful spice and stone fruit, then you get nutmeg, oak, and vanilla on the back. The finish stays in the stone fruit and baking spices lane. Just a all around great bourbon. I drink it neat, but makes a great OF too. Would recommend and will always be on my shelf.
Many bourbons have a lovely, crisp single note, but this one has four terrific notes. Clean, smooth, and finished with complexity. My favorite whisky to sip is without a doubt this one. I've tasted every product Four Roses has to offer, and I think this is the best deal. When tasted side by side, Private Select is just marginally superior. The "money shot" is this.
