This whistle does what it says on the box. 120db of ear deafening fury and pain. My lord I wondered if I would wake the dead. I purchased this as an emergency signal for abseiling/ outdoor activites, as the pea-less and plastic designs means there is no moving parts to fail.

I'm a lifeguard at a waterpark, and I purchased this whistle simply for the colour, but it is so useful at enforcing rules, a guests always listen when I use this whistle. Very helpful during emergency situations, and very very loud because of the dual chamber. Fits comfortably in mouth. If you chew on your whistle a lot you may chew through the rubber but I have not had an issue with it. Highly recommend this whistle.

I've heard good things about this whistle, and bought it because it is a pea-less design. I used to have the Storm Whistle, BUT IT HAS A PEA INSIDE and did NOT work when I needed it most, after a dive on the surface. I can only assume that the pea wore down after many watery dives or just does not work well when wet. The Storm worked great when dry on land, BUT WAS AWFUL wet right after the dive. Hopefully a pea-less design works better.
Better plug your ears when you use this whistle because it is LOUD. This whistle is perfect for back-country skiing emergencies, and whitewater emergencies or any time you NEED to be heard.
Fox 40 classic is easier to keep in your mouth for long periods of time. This whistle is like having two fox 40 Classics, your are blowing at once. Therefore the mouth grip is thicker. Different. You can vary your sound by not blowing hard, and it still gives you a good whistle. Blow hard, and it turns heads, and stops people in their tracks. I use it when things get noisy, or if the gym is medium noisy, and I don't want to have to blow hard. It's still plenty loud. Says it's a 140dcbs, vs. 120 for the classic. Seems MUCH louder then the numbers indicate, if you really lean on it.
Has smooth edges so can be worn over wetsuit. Easy to adjust length of lanyard. Bright (green) color so is easy to locate when getting ready for a swim. I have been learning how to swim for over 6 years (72 years old started with "Terrified of Water" classes). I just started open water swimming. I need this additional security of being able to get help if needed. I do believe that it is possible that I could drown.
The Fox 40 Sonik Blast is LOUD! If you want the loudest it can go you'll probably cover your ears it is that loud. I would recommend this for hikers, hunters, boaters, joggers, etc, etc, etc ..... basically anywhere you might find the need to draw attention to yourself in an emergency. You could even use it to call your kids in from the neighborhood without having to yell for them. And yes, you could definitely use it for officiating at sporting events. Anywhere you need or want a loud whistle, this one has got you covered. Good whistle, very loud. Get one!
Due to the lack of both vocal cords, I reached out for a whistle that would allow me to participate in Trap Shooting. In this event, you have to call "PULL" to have the clay bird launched. Using this LOUD whistle, it was not loud enough for the Mic to pick it up a mere 3 feet away. Bottom line, it was useless as advertised in this and other venue outlets as LOUD in various conditions..
I work for a company that removes trees for power companies, and my whistle broke on the job one day. I needed a whistle that could be heard over our equipment. I went on a limb and ordered this one as a replacement. Needless to say it is LOUD. It serves its purpose very well as far as getting my guys’ attention. The sound and pitch are obnoxious, but I love it! Shipping was fast, and the price was great. I’ll definitely be ordering from from this website again!
